Very interesting video, thanks Alex. Those reasons completely make sense for the easterly shift although I was completely horrified at the lack of basements in the south!
Loved this video! Especially the physical notes and drawings. I'd go to say the 3rd option is essentially the only driving force in a noticeable shift of data. Dixie is full of forests and low income pocket communities. Dixie Alley also has multiple radar holes even leading up to the 90s. We are totally observing a shift due to our understanding, tracking, and surveying improvements in those areas, since beforehand most EF0-EF1 tornadoes just weren't too important to keep record of if they didn't cause much damage, especially when people don't even know they happened lol! In most dixie outbreaks, the dryline isn't really an initiating boundary, and the events are typically drawn by other forms of lift like fronts and bands of confluence, so I don't think that plays as big a role as some studies suggest. Also a reminder that the two biggest Super Outbreaks ever (1974, 2011) happened in Dixie, which is going to skew the data like crazy, especially 2011 since the super outbreak was essentially ONLY in Dixie. Once again great video!
This was so cool! I absolutely loved the visuals and notes. Definitely different form your other videos but it's so professionally done and the info is incredibly digestible!
I definitely believe tornadoes are moving east. I live in southern Indiana and have lived here since 2011. From last April to specifically 4th of July of this past year, we had 11 warnings in my town. It seems every year we have had more warnings. Plus the storms have been getting more severe I’ve noticed. I live in the heart of my town and many of the houses here don’t have basements including mine 😵💫
I will never agree with this and will fight anyone who says it. Dixie Alley is it's own thing, we literally just had a season full of plains tornadoes and people act like it didn't happen
Bro... was just talking to my partner... and they have never heard about the Kluf gang. What the fuck? Where do they get their Weather, History, and Science information? This, I would like to know. #KlufstersRiseUp
