I never stopped checking on them no matter what. They could be playing or sleeping, I kept an eye on them like a hawk. I've carried my babies out of the car many times while they were asleep. Little ones always fall asleep in cars. I've never left them alone. That goofball put himself first, totally neglected Lil Parker! He's simple and immature! Not only that, but it's common knowledge you should never leave your kid in the car...they drill that into your HEAD. And then people like this exist. I saw another story, two cops left their kid in the car with air conditioning for 30 minutes...The child still passed away and you can't convince me that the exhaust fumes and other things could have contributed, even if you're outside.

I get stressed out if I have to leave my cat in the car for 5 minutes. I’m afraid someone will steal the car. I don’t worry about the heat because I would never leave them long enough or on a day it’s very hot. All this stuff goes through my head about my cats. And I’m responsible for my cats, but it’s nothing like the responsibility I’d feel if I had children. You know he was leaving the children in the car so he didn’t have to look after them. This family lives ~ 15 min from me. We are close in age and have similarly aged kids. There is NO EXCUSE for this selfish, reckless idiot to leave a child in the car. As reported by our local news, he did so IN THE DIRECT SUN.
I remember this day vividly. The heat was oppressive. Even staying in the car for 30 seconds after I turned off the car felt hot.
The wife is an anesthesiologist. The idiotic comment about potentially charging the wife for leaving the kids with the husband? For real?!
Regarding wanting him home for the daughter’s funeral - why should he get to have a pass, to NOT see the pain his actions caused? Why should he be spared seeing the funeral and everyone mourning this beautiful child. I don’t think she wanted him home out of sympathy. She is probably just trying to get through this next moment.

The father is the only one who failed. What is this constant need to push blame on women when the action is 100% on a man? She could have divorced him, and as the primary care giver, he would have gotten primary custody and would still have done this, only she wouldn't have gotten home from work and looked for the baby. The baby would have been in the car even longer. Maybe she thought he was actually capable of listening to her and comprehending what she was saying because he is a grown ass fvcking adult.

I worked as a helper babysitter all the time as a kid to help overwhelmed moms. This mom was a doctor with plenty of funds to hire a babysitter. She knew her husband left the kids in the car all the time. As their parent she should have made sure they were with a responsible caregiver. Lots of babysitters work for stay at home parents.

True crime fans love to see blood. It's a bit sociopathic to assume the wife is supposed to automatically hate her husband, when this was clearly an accident. Moreover, the two remaining children are dealing with the trauma of losing a sibling. Losing their father would make the situation much worse for them. For him to go to prison would be the worst case scenario for the whole family.

You can save the next two year old by teaching the Dad a lesson in prison. I absolutely cannot believe the talk of leniency here when this could have been prevented and this man had every single tool on the planet to not make this mistake again. The constant reminders. The access to technology - set a timer! Unplug your Xbox! How long can one play a video game uninterrupted as a parent knowing that something is wrong after a certain period of time because you are never not being interrupted or needed. This Dad probably played the next level of his game knowing he should have checked on his daughter. He knew he was forgetful and got distracted and did nothing to make accommodations for himself to not be a neglectful father. The consequences were always for others, never himself. Calling this a mistake or accident is egregious. This was this man's habit and inevitable to happen. Shame on the Mother for not seeing that.
