    Pain.
    There's 3 of 12 left from my detachment today, and they ain't all innocuous deaths.
    Be safe and be talking to friends, brothers.

    I have seen alot of music video trying to explain what it's like over there. This is by far and above the most accurate. From first enlisting to going back after losing friends. Even the survivors guilt. I was 2002-2003 and it got pretty rough sometimes. The scenes where he is sitting on the porch just smoking and losing it in the garage? I have lost track of how many times I have had those episodes. It's taken 20 years to get help but the V.A finally decided to do something around here. Granted it's just a dozen different medications, but it's a start I guess!

    Sadly the Better version by the offspring doesn’t get as much love despite them writing it. They aren’t just singing a song they are poring their hearts out. The song is talking to the person who is gone, this is a guy singing

      Both versions have their own feeling. This is more somber and nostalgic of a close friend or family who passed away whereas the original is like a fresh wound of loosing someone close and it’s more of a response toward the initial shock of that loss. Both are very good though.

      @@IamKingSleezy to me this is fine but it is a typical sad song whereas offspring’s feels more authentic and hits areas where few songs hit

    I wasn’t really sure what to think of FFDP at first. I thought their videos in support of the troops were interesting but, as a veteran, I found them to be a bit nerve-wracking as well. It wasn’t until I did some reading on the members of FFDP that I realized that some, if not all of the members, are very radical politically, and like to use their platform to sow political untruths, half-truths and support conspiracy theories. I’m pretty much done with these guys now.

    Ive always thought this cover was better than the original. Offspring just sounds too upbeat and happy in their version, while this comes off far more somber, grief stricken and angry out of survivors guilt.

    Not a patch on Offspring, way too polished production, Offsprings was raw unfiltered emotion. This is way too over produced

    It’s a vicious cycle. Had a buddy trapped in it. The military is a great place to experience life. Not every track leads to war. Most won’t lead you to a frontline. Hell not even to a back line. It’s not something we should shy from. It’s a necessary task. Yeah, fuck the government greedy rich people, yada yada yada. It’s not for them. It’s for the people. The people you meet. The people you help. And for a few, it’ll be for the people you stop. It is worthwhile.

    great emotional song. i dont want to be disrespectful but i dont understand these american people about romanticize their army. Wherever they go with their army its because they want to exploit the resources. As if that wasn't enough they are always superior in terms of technology.

    • @sithknight7740
      @sithknight7740 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's more convoluted than "We want to exploit resources" as far as I know we don't take any resources from the countries we invade. That's a really shitty take tbh. We actually do the opposite, such as Afghanistan, where we invaded to go after the Taliban and Osama bin Laden, and then helped rebuild and attempted to teach the Afghans how to fight for themselves, but that didn't pan out and it was on them, not us.
      Most people especially in the early 2000's enlisted because of 9/11 and some people still do today, seeing as terrorist groups that want Americans dead are still out there.
      The "romanticization" is because unlike most countries including a majority of Europe, we don't conscript. It's an all-volunteer force, meaning that YOU have to make the decision whether to put your life on the line or not, it's not forced upon by the government. And people enlist or reup because they love the people who they serve and swear to protect, not the government's interests.

    Yeah after 26 years and 5 deployments I got my thanks for playing medals and a great big thank you, here you go see ya, took me 7 years to get my VA benefits even after I was medical discharged, don't let them fool you it's all about money.
    I can take all my medals and 40$ and have a good dinner on myself.
