This is probably my favorite game in the genre and I love how much it's evolved and added over time, it's definitely cool to see you revisit it. The "big update" coming has been teased for a while, it's supposed to rework a lot of things and add new characters/bosses/etc along with more mechanics like upgrade rerolls and seeing your stats. Hard to say when it'll drop though. Also I think the bullet count upgrades like Double Shot might've seemed like they didn't work with the sword because its bullets are wide, so they blend into each other visually.
I haven't played this game in a hot minute either. I had unlocked everything and briefly tried to play it again about 2 months after the first big content update and I haven't been able to beat the other 2 maps lol. Still a ton of fun. The bow used to be busted for Endless when they first added the mode, as at some point the arrows would bug: they'd have their on-the-ground state permanent so each time you finished unloading you'd get more and more arrows flying back at you. You'd eventually reach a point where you could idle if you had auto-reload on and the shoot button stuck down, until the game couldn't take it anymore.

Fun fact: Endless mode lets you take up to 3 copies of each upgrade, including the character boons. It's pretty dope!

I would watch more of this. TBH any bullet heaven video i will watch
I recommend the run and gun upgrade asap unless you're doing a no-shooting build.
Did you change your keyboard. You can hear the clicking of the Keys in this video
I did not, thank you for letting me know. Not sure what happened but I'll check it out
Colors are horrible, dark text on a dark background ! Nah skip
I didn't play more than 5 minutes because of the bad contrast
