Actually, when you select the scrolls, you only need to press "A" once. Pressing it twice is not required. You can also use Sigil Stones for this glitch, instead of soul gems. One other thing you should know, is that this glitch CAN freeze the game. In order to prevent this, just save the game and immediately reload it after doing the glitch a few times.
And then, once in the arcane university, go through one of the metal gates on either side of the main building and go to the "backyard" and find the door to the Chironasium. (if you go through the metal gate on the right, the chrionasium will be on that side down the stairs) There are a couple of alter of enchantings inside.
if your fort is getting replaced... its because of the update... youcan still do the glitch... only you need to do a different part of armor ... for example.. when you do the perminent gliych thing... it leaves on a copy... even though it isnt in inventory you are still seen wearing it.... now if you attempt to do the same piece of armor again... (say you did it with a helmet... then tried another helmet... even with a different enchanted name... the spell would be replaced instead of added)
great glitch tutorial, few things you could've added: for low level characters to do this, you need to have a fortify skill spell that you can cast (not scroll) you can only put enchantment effects if you can cast that effect. also for low level characters, in the lobby of the arcane university, there is a display case with a fully charged grand soul gem so you can just steal it and pay off the guard when he catches you. btw I found this since I accidentally deleted my lvl 22 and was pissed

If you are looking for an alter of enchanting, it's through the Arcane University's gates, *right side*, and keep on walking down the curving path until you reach the first stairs you find. go down and you should see a door near a giant patch of ingrediants. it's the 2nd door from there. :)
@CleverNameHere81 for enchantments and spell making, u can only use spells that u have already aquired and are able to use (if the spell requires journeyman and you're a novice, it wont count). so u need to get a spell that fortify's attributes (any attribute) that you are able to use and it will give u the option.

When you have enough scrolls (50), press "A" once on the scrolls, then drop the sigil stone. 50 stones will then drop. Pick them up. Now you will need 2 different kinds of clothing, the best ones to use are a pair of pants and a shirt. The reason for this is because if you do the glitch on a shirt, when you drop the shirt, it will still appear on your character and have the enchantment, but will not be in your inventory.
Dude, i love you, i've been trying to get my Tan robes to have the same stat bonuses as the Mages guild robes, and now i can just duplicate the stats on me, so im not losing any stats! And yeah, i like the way tan robes look more than the mages guild robes XD Im a huge roleplayer and my character is a devout follower of the Nine, figured i'd make him wear dirt-cheap looking robes and hood
Wait a second or two, then save IMMEDIATELY before the stone is placed in your inventory. This way, if you get a stone you don't like, all you have to do is reload the save game, and you don't even have to wait a second to get the stone. Also, before you save, it's a good idea to swith to your inventory page and scroll down to the stones section of the right-most page, since your save game will remember what page you had your menu at.
So grab 2 pieces of clothing (a shirt and pants), and duplicate each 25 times (for your 50 stones). Enchant all of them with the stones, and rename them "a" (fastest way to do it). Now, you must take two of the same scroll, and duplicate each of the enchanted pants / shirts. Pick them all up when you are done. Notice that they are all stacked in sets of 2. Take one of the shirts, equip it. Select a stack of 2 scrolls and press "A" once.
There's an easy way to do this glitch if you want to put dozens of enchantments on you. First off, you need a Sigil Stone. Get the exact one you want by saving the game before grabbing a sigil stone, and if the one you grab is one that you don't like, just reload the game and it'll be a different one. To make the process go by faster, save the game before you pick up the stone (as a back up save) and then grab the stone.
You can find an enchant that increases your attributes by buying a scroll off of one of the mages guild. I dont think you need to be accepted into the guild just talk to the leader of one of the guilds so your pretty much like an apprentice.
You gotta buy a fortify atribute (like the fortify speed spell) spell from a mages guild or some other place and use it at least once and it'll give you the option to use fortify atribute at the altars.
wow. VERY useful glitch. I used it to create "Gift of Akatosh", a permanent water walking effect and the best part is i didn't have to waste any of my armour or ring/amulet slots. awesome.
You need to download Frostcrag Spire from the live marketplace it is not pre-loaded into the game.But there is an alter of enchanting in the arcane university you can use.
to get fortify attributes spells you have to but them from the people at the chapels, there is one person at every chapel that sells a certain spell that you cannot find anywhere else (exept kvatch they have a master trainer in restoration arts)
i finnaly did it but..when i do your process after i equip the 1/2 a's and drop the unequiped 1 and pick it back up im not wearing it but the enchantment is still on but i can still see the rings.?????

So So SO much, I just ended up hating my high elf char, because of the amount of damage I take from spells (it's HUGE practically a two hit kill LITERALLY!!! :() thanks ALOT for this really did help.....just made a decent looking wood elf as well! :) I actually did this once by accident :S I can't belive I didn't actually think of re-doing it! then again I had no fing clue why I couldn't equip the item back on lol!
Go to the arcane university in the imperial city (note, you'll need to have access to the arcane university first, by joining the mages guild and getting the reccomendations from each city in the game).
@talitoXsparks It is. You just haved to "lock" the enchantment of the ring. To do this: 1. Do the glitch normally until the part that you have to dupe the unequipped ring. 2. Dupe it normally, but don't leave the menu. 3. Wear any clothing item but a ring. 4. Leave the menu 5. Tada! permanent effect.
If you equip another shirt, the enchantment will disssappear. To avoid this, put on a pair of pants, which will remove the shirt, yet will keep the enchantment on you. Then of course, you would need to put on another shirt to remove the pants. Ive got a question how are u able to use grand sould gems in the enchantment. Im only able to use petty soul gems. And i cant fortify any attributes. And by the way GreenFrisbeeProducts the place this person went to is frotscrage spire, u have to download it off xbox 360 marketplace.
you need to get all the recomondations from the guild halls after you join at a hall you need to do small quests at each hall and then you can go to the Arcane university in one of the shops behind the tower in the part that is inacsesable
Although the enchantment boosts your level, it isnt actually the base level (Your actual level), youll see that youll still have to have the base level required to use the spell. All the enchantment does is just give you the abilities of having the high levels :D
i figured it out thank you and now i have alot of skill now but i do have a question how do i increae the attack power of lets say a daedric 2hander to the power of umbra. is it blade or strength of what? i would love to know cause then i could use it instead of umbra and how do you swing the blade faster? is that also blade?

You can only enchant with spell effects you can already do so get a really cheap fortify willpower or something from the mages guild and then do the rest of this.
i discovered this glitch by accident while doing the kvatch mission. i spent hours trying to realise what i'd done to repeat it. now i've got my speed over 4000. it takes literally minutes to run from one end of the map to the other. if you run off a ledge you go for miles and sometimes you can run right through a town because the game doesnt have enough time to register you and run across small areas of water without the water walking spell!
the helms are the hardest thing to get at the required armor level, with a 15% chance of any enemy (that can equip it) having it... so anything really, its just that they are rare.
Ok you probably don’t pay attention to comments/questions from this video anymore, but if you happen to see this, or anyone else knows, what does A do for the Xbox one version of this game? I’m on PS3. Also, where is that, because I always thought the altar of spell making in the arcane university was the only one in the game.
To Duplicate (It still works and we have the latest update) you have to hold down A and then while still holding down A drop the item,I do not know if that is how you do it in this video.

However, the reason I am posting is to tell everyone on here that it does work with the updates as far as I know with Shivering Ilse and Knight of the Nine because I acsidently did it with a ring of Oddities, I had water walking and breathing.
You have to have a spell with the correct effect before you can have an enchantment of it. If you want to enchant something with fire shield, you must first buy a spell of fire shield first.
are you sure this doesnt damage the disc?? ever since i did it, the sound has been going all glitchy and the game sometimes freezes and there isnt a scratch or smudge on the disc
hey how do u get over the moutains ive got all the gems and rings all i need is the enchanting alter how do i get 2 the spire do u need to do a quest to unloack it or somthing some one tell me

It works. You just have to do the 7 beginner mage guild quests to access the area. Its the 2nd door on the right in the very back.

you have to get into the arcane univercity, when you get in there its in one of the doors or in the archmages quarters
You have to buy that area off XBL. You can also find enchant altars in the Arcane university in the normal version of the game.

it doesn't change the level of your skills - just your attributes so when you do this trick you will level up normally.

In the marketplace, I went to game-add-ons on oblivion and there was no frotscrage spire... am I in the wrong area?

no, you can't reverse it unfortunately but if you want to go underwater, you just have to look directly down and run.

How'd you get ur Daedric armoe to provide 85 protection? I am a master of heavy armor and it only provides 72 protection.

on the 360 its on xbox live market place so its safe to assume that whatever the PS3 market place is called should have it.
You may want to add this works with Sigil Stones too, if you don't have the tower or arcane university.

its a patch you buy through the XBL system. its in the same place you can get the shivering isles expansion. look under dls I believe.

I just equipped the enchanted ring and went to jail and when I came out the effect was stuck on me and it said I couldn't equip this ring

i always like going to "frotscrag" spire! How about getting that speed without using the console?
