[SMM] The Journey To Beat TAS ~ Trimming The Herbs

- Probably the best experience I've had in my life, it was super cool to see all the hype, so happy to finally beat it, but a little sad that's it's the end at the same time, when I had my first nai and I couldn't go back to that point or even get a run close to that, I was so demotivated, the closer April 8 came, the more pressure I felt to beat it.
I found almost no good way to practice, which was a huge disadvantage especially for the climb, but the 5th of April i had found a good one! Which helped me and made it way easier to clear it.
The level took me about 140h, which is my 2nd longest and 3rd hardest grind behind Verdant Double and Nostalgic Endeavours.
I hear a lot of people say that it's the hardest smm level, but no, there are some levels harder than this, but it's definitely one of the hardest! (imo this is the 8th hardest SMM1/2 level)

It went from being such a disappointment that the team would be robbed of celebrating beating the final level due to the reveal that it's upload was accomplished by a TAS. Now it's so much better than the final level being legitimately uploaded could have ever been. Truly a superhuman effort. Right up there with Alex Honnold free soloing El Capitan. Amazing.

Note: There are many MANY more levels that are uncompleted. They were disqualified from the list for the same reasons The Trimming the Herbs was.
@@DarkonFullPowerYeah, but so many people grinded this one thinking it was the last one, so beating a hacked level which everyone was previously determined to beat before finding out shows the determination to beat any possible level, even if previously thought to be impossible
@@DarkonFullPower Well, no, many of them were unclearable, relying on bugs that are long since patched to be possible. Given that I was under the impression that TASing the Wii U to upload TTH was an unheard of technical achievement at the time it was uploaded, I'd be curious to see any other levels disqualified because they were uploaded using TAS tools.
Someone should make a movie about this. Not a documentary, but a drama with actors. It has more than enough amazing twists and turns.

I'm so glad that Trimming The Herbs was actually conquered, it would have been a sour ending if it didn't get beaten after people put so many collective hours into the level. MASSIVE props for being able to pull it off

"Defy the Legends" is such a fitting track for this. This level was set to remain uncleared, to be the one that gets by because it was secretly uploaded by a TAS all along. Many of the best players gave up the grind because team 0% had achieved their goal, but you defied them all and kept at it. Can't even imagine the time and skill that went into this, congratulations!

Most people knew it was bound to happen, given his progress, the fact that harder levels have been beaten before and the level being humanly possible (and the cheese making the ending significantly easier).
I think there's a crazy beauty to grinding a 15-second level for 100+ hours until you get it perfect. awesome job, we owe it all to you.

I could not think of a mire fitting end to smm1. The game having finally become so optimized in and out that humans themselves were finally able to achieve TAS level gameplay. My congratulations to you and Team 0%

When I saw that people retired their attempts, I moved on and just waited for the servers to be taken down... and out of nowhere, youtube reccomends this, telling me that the ending of this chapter in videogame history was better than I thought. It makes me happy, congrats!
