    Revisiting this video, so pretty! I think a good idea for these might be to have one or two pipettes filling while working with the other. Less frustration? Pretty either way!

      I've tried pipettes a few more times but they don't work. The resin is just too thick. Now I use sandwich bags. :)

    If you would like to be able to draw more resin at a time, I recommend getting some syringes. They are available at pharmacies, and also on WISH.com and Amazon.com.

    You come up with the best ideas! One question (ok, ended up a two parter 🤩) ... Do you have to put the glitter drops in the center to get these techniques to work? Is the weight of the glitter centers what makes the resin (hence the white) move inwards to make all the stretched forms your getting? I don’t really care for big glitter centers (really any glitter center) but wondering if it’s a crucial component. My geode molds FINALLY arrived the other day. I ordered them WEEKS ago but lots of shipping delays. Can’t wait to finally start trying out your ideas!

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope you don't have to put anything in the center. I have several pieces that don't. And if you still want to accent the center with something, you can use other things besides glitter. Stones, sand, glass pieces, seashells, seeds, etc.

  • @ntyler71

    What????!!!! I swear you do some sort of trickery off camera lol! Those little dots made lines?! You should do red, white and blue!

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OMG too funny! Never my friend, I show you everything. The only break in the video is overnight when they're curing, and then the break for the close up when I accidentally turned off the camera. I also don't practice speeds anything of time. What you're seeing is me doing is for the first time in every video 🙂

    They are so beautiful. My coasters are coming beautiful but why is the top centre not as smooth as the bottom. Rest of the coaster is smooth on both sides. What am I doing wrong? I am using the same mixture of resin throughout

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it air bubbles? Try a little heat in the centers before leaving them to cure.

    • @craftsbykashmir7944
      @craftsbykashmir7944 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CathiiLaPierreArt No air bubbles. I have applied heat to the whole piece including the centre. The whole piece is shiny and smooth except the middle which has some glitter.

    Is it essential to use silicone moulds only

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zilicone is best because resin won't stick to it.

  • @aligentry4366
    @aligentry4366 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a question for you. Let me explain why, I have a difficult time using sandwich baggies getting just the right size hole and controlling the flow either squeezing to hard or not hard enough. Now my question: would it be possible to use a small glue bottle with the the twist open applicator top? I could adjust the flow for thick or thin lines or dots by how much I opened it. Of course cleaning the bottle and tip might be a bit difficult. What do you think?

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't hurt to try! I think as long as you clean it out right away you should be okay. Use rubbing alcohol to soak it really well.
      I've tried medicine syringes but because the resin is so thick, it doesn't come out smoothly. When you push the plunger it moves in spurts so you end up with globs of mess LOL.

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. Could be the resin you're using, could be how much white you put into the resin, there are a lot of variables that can affect the outcome.

      Cathii LaPierre Art hi, I have the same problem, I had the flower once, and I could not repeat it again, I used exactly the same material but it does not work anymore...most of stuff drops to the bottom, can it be that I use too much pigment? I thought more pigments make it better, I am really desperate, a friend asked me to do it for her and after 10 times trying I cannot make what I did once before exactly when I had leftover and tried that ...

  • @artsyartoholic334
    @artsyartoholic334 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there too much difference between Le Rez white pigment angel and castin craft white pigment?

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Castin' Craft is a liquid and will give you a more spread out, feathery look. Angel White is a paste. It holds together a bit more. It's also great for lacing when making ocean waves. :)

  • @nataliemulhall3659
    @nataliemulhall3659 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I absolutely love these, they are my favourite so far. I did try them but failed, mine didn’t spread out like your did, some just clumped together. So I watched your video again and realised I used alcohol ink, not a pigment powder for the white, so I will give it another go. Thank you for sharing, loving your work 💙

    What do you use for a backing for coasters when the design is so transparent? I usually use cork on coasters but that wouldn’t be possible with this design.

    I love these, what about a syringe, the type used for medicine for children? May work, but the bag seemed to work great 😉

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
      @CathiiLaPierreArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone else just asked me that same question a little while ago. I've tried the medicine syringe but because the resin is so thick you have to push the plunger hard. It makes the resin squirt out in bog blobs instead of nice lines.
      I found smaller bags so I'm going to start using those so at least I'm wasting a little bit less.

  • @mookzmom
    @mookzmom 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, Cathii! I just wanted you to hear about this thing I found while accumulating my supplies to try my hand at flower making. Were you aware that there are reusable silicone pastry piping bags out there? I wasn't, but I think they'd be pretty awesome, since you can just let the resin harden in them and then just peel it out when dry! How awesome is that? I'm gonna give them a try and let you know how they do. I'm thinking the little extra bit of grip and thickness of the bag might make it easier to control. Just thought you'd like to know. Cheers!

    Why always uneven moulds

    • @CathiiLaPierreArt
