  • You should be able easily find all the materials to build this simple engine.
    Only simple tools are needed, not even a drill.
    This engine is developed from my EZ Stirling • Easy to Build Stirling... in response from builders who have been unable to get the specified tin or balsawood in the the part of the world where they live.
    I hope Pringles are available worldwide!

    I am not mechanically minded,but I love to make things.And you are very inspirational.Thankyou for sharing your brilliant tutorials with us mere mortals.I may have to try this,but I think my hands are not steady enough to give it the justice it deserves.ie I will probably have more glue on my hands than on the machine.Lol

  • @doublestarsystem

    How did you figure out the quantity (mass) and the distance from the flywheel center to stick the modeling clay in order to balance the flywheel? You just added some inertia because it's too light and dont store enough kinetic energy.

    • @paweprocek1815
      @paweprocek1815 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had this same problem but clearly he says it is to balance the displacer not the flywheel itself. Put enough so the displacer doesnt fall down or go up but can be placed in whatever high and wont move

    A regenerator improves quite a max the power, discovered by Stirling in 1816 !!
    A regenerator is absolutely necessary, ie. a piece of metallic sponge inside the displacer !!

    Can I use soda cans as alternative to pringle tubes?

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gefferson No it won't be a Pringle engine if you do. The choice of Pringle tubes is important as the metal ends are insulated with the cardboard tube which is desirable in a Stirling engine.

    • @caielesr
      @caielesr 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +myfordboy Oh okay. But how about the darning needle? Can I use a metal wire as substitute?

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gefferson Why do you want to change all the materials?
      It is important to get a good seal around the pencil top with little friction. You won't get that with a bit of wire. Choosing the right size needle will achieve this.

    Nice video, but the captions aren't nearly enough. The videos would be so much better if you explained in detail the process. If you are physically unable to verbalize I apologize.

      myfordboy I agree. That's why I stopped watching. However, thank you for making these videos anyways and putting them out there.

      I prefer the video without music and talking,I find I take things in better when I read the instructions,that appear on screen.Anyway I am sick of tutorial videos,where the teacher likes the sound of their own voice too much.I love this guys videos as they are.

    Doesnt work, in plans must be some mistake...my engine is airtight, no ressistance, cranks 90 degrees...i lost much of time...

      Sorry to hear your engine does not work. There is nothing wrong with the plans. Thousands of successful engines have been made. Take a look at the ones at myfordboy.blogspot.com where there are videos of at least 40 engines made by others.
