I saw your inside the tailgate storage and I'm hooked. Both are genius ideas. I'm doing the tailgate storage to both trucks and this to the short box ram.
While it’s a great concept (I watched it as well), there’s a reason why tailgates are made like they do… to provide rigidity and reinforce the impact of collision. By eliminating the structural foundation and adding storage, you’re weakening the tailgate. Again, great idea but manufacturers do much more R&D and have engineers compensate for any problems. I will say though, those latches are a bit overkill. Simple 2 figure or folding D-ring 2” latches would be plenty and accommodate for gloves. You have to consider the weight of the panel and the added weight of the huge latches.
Dude u remind me of my uncle always coming up w some cool useful contraptions for his work vehicles that truely work I’ve told him plenty of times if he massed produced some of his gadgets he would b a millionaire right now lol
You made this sound novel but Nissan did this with their Frontiers and was a big part of their factory design function… even remember them doing this with their first Titans. Now they have numerous companies that sell these for every truck and not that expensive. Even more, the Chevys that have the 8 way tailgates that feature steps and platforms, they now feature built in “limiters” so your plywood and 2x2-2x8 don’t slide out. There’s a reason why many people turn to mass martlet brands, they’re not wasting money buying tools for this one project, don’t want to run into issues during the build and sourcing the materials to build this.
I have to put groceries in the back cuz my dog rides up front with me. I've learned my lesson when he ate half of a smoked brisket while I was in the gas station.

Thank you. I might do more storage areas in the future but we will see.

Sounds like a cool dude. I thought about doing a couple more but we will see.
I would buy this if it came in a kit. I don’t have access to a welding machine.
I love this! One of your best kreations!
Thank you. I hope to keep raising my standard for everyone.
I just stretched rubber tie-downs across the back 2 tie hooks , bags and boxes get hugged between the straps & the tailgate , about $ 5.00 Canadian.
Thats a great idea.
Rachet strap through each bag handle and attach strap to each side just inside right behind tailgate. done!
wow cool ! thank you for the video!
Your welcome, Thanks for the encouragement.

That is the coolest thing. I want one.....if I had a truck. 😅
Good excuse to get a truck lol
Looks like you didn't get the best alloy of aluminum for bending. Try 3003 for future reference (not the stuff at home depot probably)
Good to know. Probably would have saved me money too. Thank you for sharing that!
no im wondering WHY you didnt just put groceries in the back seat.. but continue lol
Cause I have a family :) The rest was an exaggeration but stuff does end up moved around.
