  • The government has announced that they are to pay £10bn in compensation to victims and their families of the infected blood scandal.
Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies MBE lost her Mother in 2017 from hepatitis C contracted through infected blood given to her via transfusion, after a gall bladder operation.
On the question of who should be blamed, Sharron says: “it’s a succession, it’s the cover up, we seen it with the Post Office scandal.”
Julia Hartley-Brewer thinks that the UK has a very slow inquiry process.
Publishing the final report of the Infected Blood Inquiry, chairman Sir Brian Langstaff said that the contaminated blood disaster is “still happening” because patients who suffered “life-shattering” infections continue to die every week.
