From Rubbish to an Amazing Fused Glass Bowl, Glass Fusing Tutorial

- This fused glass project is about reusing scrap glass, that really looked a bit rubbish, and making it into a unique, interesting, and quite amazing fused glass bowl. The glass I'm using in this project was left over from a previous project (link below) about making a drop vase.
The vase worked, but it left a lot of glass in the rim that was cut off. And as always, never throw away any glass. It can always be reused somehow.

The way the blue shines is lovely!
I agree. The Fuschia didn't work as well but the blue is nice.
Talk about transforming leftover glass into something great. I was glad to hear you wouldn’t cold work it. It turned out so well.
Thank you. Sounds like we have a shared feel for the different.
I love how the colors are reflexed from underneath
Hi Susan. I agree. Transparent glasses in bowls, platter and the like usually throw a great show if lit from the top.
Amazing that you could even think about turning a mistake into something beautiful!
Always. Glass isn't cheap and sometimes they make the best pieces. They make you think hard about how to reuse and create something interesting.
Beautiful!
Thanks Stephen.
And for your support.
It’s beautiful x
Thank you.
That is a magnificent piece! I wouldn't sell it either. Quite the masterpiece!!!!
Thank you.
Very nice! I love the streaks of color.
Thank you!
I think it is a lovely interesting piece. Thank you for sharing it
Happy to Karrie.
Stunning
Thank you.
As usual Jeff, that is beautiful! I really love the colors and the almost 3D effect with the remnants of the vase. The organic shape suits the color design as well. Very nice!😉
Ad from some ugly left overs. But left overs can sometimes taste the best.
Moi j’adore tout ce que l’on peut faire avec des morceaux scrap pour en créer quelque chose de magnifique ❤❤❤ Bravo
Merci. Scrap peut être très stimulant et créatif.
Very informative am going to try this with some of my failed pieces Thank you love your bowl
Very happy to help.
Thanks!
Thank you Monica. Your support is appreciated greatly.
I love your job Thanks
Thank you.
I really like the asymmetry of the piece. Possibly my favorite piece of yours! What do you use for rotating the piece for the photo of the finished product? Nice presentation!
Hi Jill. I love reusing and recycling. That is from a decorative sculpture that had a rotating platform. When I say sculpture, something probably mass manufactured somewhere. Cheap in other words. The sculpture was broken and we were left with the base. It only has one speed, but just right. Best thing it is powered, not batteries or solar. So look out in the cheap shops or secondhand stores.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!
That's fantastic Nancie. It's always great to get that feedback.
I love the free form edge. And such an easy way to make it. Would you really have had to use the metal form at all? “Waste” glass really makes some very nice pieces. I like to try new molds with waste glass first to work out firing schedules.
In hindsight, no. There simply wasn't enough glass to worry about. Testing is always best. That's why I make so many. Just out of curiosity some. Never know when I might use it.
