Yes brandy plays Cinderella in the Rodger and Hammerstein version of the movie which I would suggest for you to watch Whitney Houston is also in the movie and it’s a musical marvel 🖤🖤🖤🖤thanks for the reaction I love watching you guys react to these movies 👏🏾👏🏾
I loved that China Anne Mclain was chosen to say the phrase "don't do it for me, do it in honor of him" since she and Cameron Boyce have known each other literally since they were babies because they both worked with Adam Sandler in the Grown Ups movies , so for her it was more painful, rest in peace Cameron. ❤️
"It's what Carlos would've wanted." That part broke me. I'm glad they didn't just recast him, and that everyone payed Cameron Boyce the respect he deserves in and out of universe.
Brandy played Cinderella in the Roger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella in 1997 which first aired on the wonder world of Disney and later was released on VHS.
I love how raw they kept it with Cinderella's story. Being a victim of abuse as well as being orphaned is one of the realest and close to heart stories for many kids, and it just wouldn't help to sugar-fy it. I also love how she was the one who explained that bridget is strong cause she still chooses to be kind even when people are awful to her cause that was the basic essence of Cinderella as a character in her original films
The reason why Red hates her mother more than usual. It's because in the book she lost her 2 friends Ace and Chester to her. She turned Ace into one of her soldiers and Chester into a cheshire cat.
Kylie Cantrall is really good as Red. Her titular song and her version of "What's My Name?" are great too. Also, I like how uma went from Auradon Prep's biggest enemy, to it's principal, and I love that China Anne McClain reprised the role.
@@lalaland746 no one said they are in complete connection. None of the original story movies are prequals of Descendants. But both movies are made/own by Disney so she can reprise her role as Cinderella.
@@kbaelay2125 lmao yeah I know no one said. I rewatched Cinderella before D4 BECAUSE of both Brandy and Paolo. I was just stating that even though they are in both I realized they are independent of each other. I rewatched Cinderella hoping that story would continue but it’s okay Rise of Red took a different turn
@@lalaland746 oooh I thought you were telling they weren’t. Gotcha. Yeah they can’t do that since technically that Cinderella is a remake itself a of a play by Rodgers & Hammerstein. Disney’s produced movie but R&H own that story for the movie
Yes Prince Charming is from the 1997 Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella with Brandy, Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, and Paolo Montalban (Prince Charming). Omg that movie was so good! Brandy and Paolo still have that magical chemistry + gorgeous vocals.
I was expecting that the VK's weren't the one's actually doing the prank that broke her, since Ella was acting quite strange every time Bridgette mentioned the dance and the way they Cinderella was defending the prank as an adult
@@Michelle-DiPalo Yeah they could have done a lot more with this prank idea. I agree...I thought Cinderella was responsible...and I don't see Bridget turning evil. Over one prank. Unless it was betrayal from her only friend.
@@wkadalie they did refer to Bridget feeling like Ella betrayed her. Before the time travel stuff, adult Bridget reminds adult Ella that she was too busy with her prince to care what was happening to Bridget. I definitely think that affected her journey and future decisions more than the prank itself. Especially since Ella was the one who invited her to go to the dance. So she invited her and then just ignored her all night because she was off dancing with the prince. And adult Bridget also alluded to the fact that Charming was one of the people who laughed at her. So Bridget is getting bullied, looks for her only friend, realizes Ella is standing there all lovey dovey with a boy who is laughing at her. I'm sure they probably weren't friends anymore after that. 🤷
I just finished it on my own and yeah.....I would've preferred that the queen actually learned from the past instead of it just being "POOF" and disappearing.
A lot of people are disappointed with the ending but this is only part one. Descendants Rise of Red 2 (I think that’s what they’re calling it) will be fully announced soon. Idk when but it’s coming.
brandy playing cinderalla AGAIN after she played cinderella in the 90’s was just golden !! hopefully when ppl ask whose my favorite princess & i say cinderella but brandy..they won’t be as confused lol .. & if only Whitney Houston was still alive to play the Fairy God Mother❤️
I love how smooth that transition was right into red’s song that was fire especially that part where they did that little flash on the back of red’s hoodie before the song started.
I'm living for all the shoutouts to the production and post-production crew. That and Brandy and Paolo Montalban reuniting as their roles from such an iconic version of Cinderella.
What would've made it better was to show at the end some kind of other consequence that their time travel did. Aside from Queen of Hearts being still good, they should've shown that maybe she had a daughter that was not Red. Or maybe Cinderella had no daughter because she didn't go to the party. Or maybe even show that Queen of Hearts didn't change as the villains weren't the ones that did the prank
Next film will be the consequence of time travel. It’ll probably be about how it wasn’t the prank that made Queen of hearts evil. It’ll probably have been Prince Charming taking Ella away from Bridgette that made her evil cos the prank didn’t make sense cos how would the prank have even been done with that protection spell but we still know it did happen tho I really don’t have a clue
China(Uma) was the only one willing to come back after hearing about Cameron’s passing so I think their storyline for Mal, Ben and the rest of the gang sailing out and making Uma the principal was a smart move.
I can see why. While China knew him the longest the other three were his team in these movies, a family with him so it wouldn't feel right to do the scenes together without him at their side.
Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella is my favorite Cinderella movie. If you haven't watched it, I strongly recommend it. Made such a huge impact on little me and my love for movies. Also the cast is bananas.🤩🤩
My personal thoughts were that thirty minutes (the third act) was cut from this movie. Not seeing the dance, a payoff to Ella and charming falling in love, Ella being Bridget’s date to the dance and then going with charming instead which is a much more interesting reason for Bridget to turn bad… I think they cut it a lot purely cuz they don’t wanna paint Cinderella in a bad light at all. I think Bridget, ella, Chloe and red are all very interesting characters and well acted, so I’m very interested in what they can do in a sequel, but I’m sad about what they obviously left out in this one. Hopefully we get a little more context, especially since I think Bridget was the best character and she was just kinda dropped as soon as they found out where to get the book lol. Best budget of all the movies, but just rushed af at the end lol
Executive producer Suzanne Todd said: "There was never a scene at the dance. We never planned to get there. A dance is always fun, but no, we never planned that."
@@sorchamiana strange, hmmm I wonder if the sequel will revisit that moment then. It just felt like these movies usually have some kind of twist or something that leads into a third act and there just wasn’t any. Very surprising but I mean I’m excited for these characters potential
I also was really interested in Ella’s backstory in the Descendants universe. It felt really raw, genuine, and emotional. I wanted to see more of the Charming Family too. I would also love to see them double check what happened at the dance. I wanted to see Prince Charming and Cinderella falling in love and the young versions singing “So This Is Love”. I wanted to see Bridget and Ella’s dresses, maybe we would have gotten to see who possibly might be Princess Red’s dad. Maybe her parents met at the dance you know? But maybe that is saved for the next movie, cuz does Princess Red know who her father is? I don’t think he was ever mentioned by the Queen. Oh and just to clarify some things, I know you guys mentioned earlier in the reaction that maybe Cinderella was the bully. Even though she technically was not the bully and is the best friend of Bridget. I think what made Bridget upset and felt betrayed by Ella is because Ella was not by her side at the dance cuz she started dancing/singing with Prince Charming (where their love story began). Ella could not protect Bridget from the bullies and she was tricked to eat that cupcake and was embarrassed. So basically, you ran off and fell in love with a dude and left me to fend for myself against those bullies MAD MAD. 😅
Thank you so much for saying that about what Ella did to Bridget! People are acting like it had to be something intentionally sinister, but often, it's the hurts we cause people without even realizing it that are the ones that sting the worst. 🙏❤️
True I just hope the ending red can't change the past and has to change her mother who is in the present, I also hope there is a scene where Bridget sees Ella dancing with prince charming this made Bridget even more disappointed because Ella didn't help her, but anyway this is only part 1 but i feel like they want to create a new universe because if one thing is changed in the past the future will also change
It's also interesting that they made Chloe a bit of slow like Chad, like i know they're trying to reference that and now that we know that Cinderella basically pampered the both of them it's probably because of that. I want to see if they're going to recast Chad or they're just going to stick with the previous actor, honestly i wish they would just go colorblind and retain the Chad from part 1-3
You could really tell alot was cut, one of the actress in the movie actually unfollowed the descendants account and took down all the promo from her page cause her character was literally turned into a background extra 💀
So I really like this one I like. The memory of Carlos, the beginning is fantastic. I agree the editing is kind of all over the place but seeing a bunch of reactions and watching in a couple of times you think maybe they might’ve done it on purpose… like you mention how the music was like early 2000s, then they got Brandy from their 97 Cinderella and when they went back in time, if you look at the background characters, they kind of dressed in 90s style clothes so you think maybe they were filming it on purpose that when they came back to the present after changing the past that the editing in the filming is different because they changed the past so part two is going to be what’s the consequence of changing the past
apparently the scripts for the movie were split into two parts so this was made to be a part 1 but if they’d established that this was a part 1 and there was a sequel coming i think it would’ve made more sense for the implications of the time travel and the weak climax. i do agree there needed to be more humor and development with the main characters, and cutbacks to cinderella in present day!
After a rewatch, it makes sense that from the moment they arrived, every interaction changed the past. I think the flamingo feather incident may have happened differently as they wouldn’t have been involved/threatened the villains like Red did. Excited to see the next part to see how badly these girls messed up time 😂😂. It seemed too easy of an ending.
One big positive I'll give this movie is that the song distribution amongst the characters felt better than it was during D1-D3. In the original trilogy, it seemed like Mal/Dove sang 80% of the songs and everyone else, usually the girls + the main villain, basically got scraps. In this movie alone, most the main cast were prominent in at least one song.
I watched it over the weekend and I will admit I struggled with the last 20 minutes of the film. I love the songs, the production value was way up and nice tribute to Cameron Boyce but everything after that kinda felt flat and I was like what is this 😂 And as someone who absolutely loved the shit out of the original trilogy cause they were magical 😂 This one was disappointing. Greg's face in the thumbnail of the video summed up my feelings/reaction to the movie 😂 What? lol. Anyway thank you Greg and Tara for covering the whole franchise! Great reaction as always 🙂
Also Lemonade Mouth next please and Teen Beach Movie as a franchise afterwards? The first one is really solid but the sequel is uhm yeah 😅 Zombies is another solid franchise! First two are great but the third film is the same as this one 😂
🤣🤣 I mean fair, lol, but I do think the new director and choreo team did a really great job considering they had such tremendous shoes to fill. And if Kenny hadn't left the franchise, then we wouldn't have gotten Julie and the Phantoms, which would have been a crime against humanity 😂🤷
@@sorchamiana thats the thing tho, i dont think the did a "really great job". the choreographer was from the greatest showman and it makes so much sense cause it was more so stunts than dancing. i could not for the life of me tell you ONE single move that stuck out to me or that i remember. whereas in the og trilogy (i really dont wanna compare but this movie can't stand on its own) almost EVERY song had an iconic move. i literally memorised the set it off choreo as a child. the issue begins with the songs tho cause it was 70% talk rapping than ACTUAL songs. they were desperately trying to recreate the magic and hype of "its going down" and "queen of mean" and failed. the directing was so off because i sincerely think the script or atleast the concept was pretty strong but it all felt shallow on screen
@@lilbrownbear okay, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I'm not a dancer by any means and maybe you are, so maybe that's something where your bar of expectation is set higher. As a writer myself, I thought the dialogue was very well done, in both the songs and the spoken parts. Nothing felt cheesy in this one like it did in some parts of the first three. Like, I was literally watching someone squeeze goop out of a vegetable and somehow they managed to make that more entertaining than a talking dog 🤷😅 They made and entire movie without a central romance plot and yet it wasn't at all boring. That's something the entire AroAce community will certainly feel represented by. The costumes were great even without having Evie's design skills. And the CG was sooooo impressive. 🎉 They used their "big names" like Malificent and Hades and Hook just enough that we were able to get a feel for that history without it seeming like they were relying on them as a crutch. The new characters all stood on their own and they had sooooo many strong female characters and POCs. Like, I feel like this movie had so much to recommend it that at this point, people are coming from the biased perspective of hey, we miss the OGs and not giving it a chance. But then, that's just my opinion and I am entitled to it just like you are entitled to yours. 🤷❤️
@@sorchamiana i actually never went into it with the nostalgia bias believe it or not. i actually enjoyed the performances, the look of it all etc exactly until they time travelled. thats also what i said earlier, the script was decently written actually in terms of dialogues at least just the direction (and personally malia's acting in particular) fell short for me the entire time we were in the past. rita ora carried this movie. and your point of pocs actually reminded me that it bugged me so much they cast a light skin girl for jasmine. they literally could've had naomi back or anyone else who actually LOOKED brown. and as for cheesyness, that was lowkey the charm of the first 3 movies, like evn greg said they were trying to be too edgy here and had no humor at all. not one joke honestly. well aside from the fact that hades a literal greek god would be following around a see urchin who actually happens to be his neice by technicality. the inclusion of all the villains and heroes in the background actually felt forced to me instead of world building. most of them served no purpose and it was obvious this entire movie was actually a set up for its sequel and thats just not how cinema works. you make a good standalone film and plant foreshadowing and easter eggs so IF AND WHEN you get a sequel you can build up on it and pay it off. sequels are dependent on their predecessor installment not the other qay round. and i say this because everyone who is defending this movie has only one argument that its a two parter. but i guess if you enjoyed it im glad. we're all here to have a good time at the end of the day
@@lilbrownbear I'm gonna be straight with you because you seem like a decent person. The popularity of this movie will directly affect the likelihood of us getting a sequel. I'm gonna be really choked if this franchise dies because the people who didn't like Rise of Red are louder than the people who did. We could have another twenty years of new Descendants content, if we play our cards right. Pun fully intended. Heck, we might even get to see Mal & Ben's eventual child on the throne one day if we don't mess this up. The fans are the only ones with the power here, so I will be defending this movie until the next sequel is confirmed. Then and only then will I shut up about it. Julie and the Phantoms fans waited too late to show their support and as such, it did not get a second season. This won't be me. I don't want to find myself wishing I didn't fight harder. So regardless of how valid anyone's negative points are...the louder the negativity gets, the louder I will get in defending this movie. Your opinion is valid, it's just that it's not gonna help us get to a goal of seeing this franchise continue. So maybe, at least tell your friends to watch it, even if it's just so you have someone to talk to about it afterwards. And have them tell their friends and so on. Because idk about you, but I don't want to be a contributing factor to why future generations don't grow up with Descendants movies. And you might say it's not that deep, but I'm on the Autism spectrum, so for me, when it comes to my special interests...yeah, it is that deep 😅🤷
It makes me wonder if their mother's realize what they've done as they were growing up they had to have realized they look exactly like the people in their youths right?
This ended up being the best out of all of the Descendants movies. I love that it's the same story and world but new characters and a different vibe. The Queen of Hearts is easily my favorite villain of this series so far. It was less magical and I think that's what I liked about it. It was darker, the music was better, and it's a setup for something more left to come. I agree with Tara, Get Your Hands Dirty is my favorite song from the soundtrack. Continuity was not solid- but it's a kid movie. And I think thy focused on the casting over continuity. My favorites are 4, 2, 1, 3 in that order. 4 feels cut abruptly short, but that's so they can do a second half of it in the 5th installment. Uma will be avenging her auntie Uli, because with the time alteration, Uli was humiliated and Bridget was not.
I wouldn't go that far , definitely think 3 is the best, but I really liked this one. However I also wish the ending gave us more. It was about 20 minutes shorter than the rest of the movies in the franchise, and we also didn't get the big dance number at the end like all the others had (which would have been a good spot for "shuffle of love " ) instead of just her headphones
@@Melody-bourbonite4lifeI'm guessing the reason they didn't plan to show a big dance number at the end is because of it being a different director. Those dance numbers in 1 through 3 are basically just these amazing opportunities they had to showcase Kenny Ortega's mad skills as a top tier choreographer. I feel like omitting it is kind of a like tribute to him in a way. Like it feels like they're saying 'this was your thing and we recognize that and we're not gonna try to recreate something with another director that you did so beautifully.' Like I feel like it was a respect thing. I could be wrong but that's my take on it. And about it being 20 minutes shorter, I've watched each of the first three so many times I've lost count and there is at least 20 minutes of filler in each of those movies whereas this one was straight up storytelling the entire time with no filler. But again, that's just my take on it. I definitely understand wanting a longer run time tho ☺️❤️
This timing was such a coincidence! I literally finished the movies about 10 minutes ago or so and I got recommended this. I loved “Gotta get your hands dirty” probably my favourite song out of this. The colours really popped in this movie. Do we think we’ll get a sequel or just a new trilogy all together? Surprised to see Rita Ora in a movie missed the OGs. That memory of Carlos was 😢but sweet. Loved the movie a bunch!!
BRO LITERALLY- when i was watching the movie for the first time- i genuinely checked the time after they got back- i was like there is no way this movie is over rn... and it was. it just felt so unfinished... and i was genuinely sad about it- i was 100% expecting to see the dance and that be the climax of the movie... but that didn't happen and i was so incredibly confused 😭- but i will say get your hands dirty is my FAVORITE out of all the songs 😌
I'm so surprised to hear you say you don't think the lead girls have any chemistry, you're the only people I've seen say that. Many people, me included, want them to be a couple because they have so much chemistry. Their ship name is Glassheart and it's been trending on social media since the movie was released. So I'm not sure why you didn't see it. But great reaction anyway. I enjoyed it a lot and I've subscribed. 😊
I absolutely love this movie. One of my favorite things about it is the fact that the happy ending wasn’t a happy ending and it's going to be a two part story. Red thinks she saved her mom, but those changes to the timeline are going to cause some serious issues. It's going to be a butterfly effect. She’s gotta return to the past to fix everything. Red is going to learn the hard way that you can’t change the past, and although her mother isn’t what she wanted she has to live with that and grow from it. The fifth film will likely be announced at D23 next month! Dara Renee was so good as Uliana. A big reason why I think they chose to have her as Uliana instead of Ursula is because theyre going to bring her in the present day after they time travel again and she is going to get stuck in the present day. The music was also a banger, Life is Sweeter is so good. I can't wait for D5
Bridget was mad at Ella for leaving her alone at the dance while the prank happened and Ella was with the prince who she kinda rejected, even tho she asked Bridget to go with her, also great reaction❤
There's lots of theories that everyone is saying that they think it was Ella who did the prank, I think it's her too. Ever since the beginning of the movie when she said 'It was silly prank" I had a feeling it is going to be her. But we have to wait and see if they make a new movie.
I was thinking about that!I was looking at Bridget's face when she gave cupcakes to Prince Charming and she looked in love, I was thinking if Ella was jealous of her and that's why she did the prank
@@zatanna8355 I mean maybe, but he's clearly interested in her - well whatever happened we need more details, and Ella and Bridget need to talk this out completely.
Also, since the book was charmed to perma froze bad guys like Uliana crew, how did they manage to use it the first time?! They definitely had some good guys helping them right?!
Agree with all you mentioned. It felt like the stakes weren’t there despite Cinderella getting killed and there was no ticking clock. Really felt like the climax was the end of act 2 and we should have seen them trying to stop the villains at the dance so we could see all the stuff they were talking about at the start. Didn’t understand why Bridget was mad at Cinderella for it especially when she wasn’t in the room (though maybe that’s why since she invited her) but also don’t know why she was off with Charming given their prior interactions. Also not sure what Red and Chloe actually did to change anything. The villains still got the book and it froze them since it was enchanted and that got them caught. So without them there wouldn’t the same thing have happened, so not sure how it actually occurred in the first place.
I absolutely love this movie. My only criticism is I felt like it ended 30 minutes early. As in, I didn't even realize the Merlin office scene was the climax of the film; I thought it was just another road bump. I expected the climax of the film to be at Castlecoming. Other than that though, I thought it was great. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did.
I subscribe because I’ve been looking all over for the full movie. That’s actually on TH-cam that people react to that actually an hour and I finally found it. Thanks to you guys.
Rita Ora plays the Queen of Hearts and she is a very well known singer just like Brandy. This movie is more like the books are than the movies but nothing wrong with that because the books are darker and slightly more scary than the movies dared to be, also the books were written after the movies came out by a fan of the books who is a writer herself of course haha. Red is my favorite character and her song is my favorite in the movie as well. Yes Bandy played Cinderella with Whitney Huston as the fairy godmother and prinche Charmin here Pablo played the prince in the Rodgers and Hammerstine's version not sure I spelled that right but any way...side note you should check it out if you have not seen it. I love that they brought back a new version of Uma's what's my name? as well seeing how that is one of my favorite songs in that movie. If they make a new movie we will see the concenqunses of them changing history I am sure and I hope they finally show Ursula in that movie as well. I do like this one even though it's different from the others but they should have given Brandy a bigger part and singing parts in my opinion but any way. I like how they showed young Hades and how he hasn't changed over the years that was good casting and the actor does a good job acting like the Hades in the third movie. My second favorite song here is the one that Red sings with Cinderella's daughter when they fight over the watch and my third favorite is the one that young Bridgitte sings when giving everyone the cupecakes but I also like the song Hands Dirty that Cinderella sings. Grate reaction guys.
Oh my, I love it. Seeing Brandy and Paolo as Cinderella and Prince charming gives me my children hoodie back when watching them over and over again at my grandparents place. OH please watch Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella 1997.
I will say I kinda agree with your points on the movie kinda lacking in the second part. The first part was amazing. With the Queen of Hearts' singing number and Brandy and Paolo singing together again was magical and then Brigit's coup was epic! But then they went back in time and while I didn't hate it, I felt like a lot of it didn't make sense. Like how is the Fairy Godmother a student the same time Cinderella is and how is Hades and Maleficent there when one is a mythical God and both of them should be centuries years old just like Fairy Godmother? I did enjoy Red and Chloe's performances which I wasn't sure if I was going to or not. Also the ending felt super anti-climatic. I was waiting for the big moment where we were going to see the prank or them changing the past didn't fix the present or it made it worse so I wasn't expecting them to go back and for everything to be OK and then the movie ends. For me the major highlights were Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts and Brandy and Paolo back as Cinderella and Charming. I also enjoyed the songs. My favorites are probably Get Your Hands Dirty, So This Is Love, Love Ain't It and Life is Sweeter.
Brandys “Cinderella” is my favorite!! The fact that they brought back the prince too is amazing! They never sang “This is Love” (song from the cartoon) in the Roger and Hammersteins version (it’s replaced with a song called “10 minutes ago”) so hearing them sing this was EVERYTHING to me
I have watched a few of these reactions so far and nobody is noticing that the book froze the vk's because of it's enchantment (this would have happened even if red and Chloe weren't there) so someone else would have had to have gotten the book and done the prank (someone good) so they didn't actually stop it even though the movie says they did. Also look at Ella's face when Bridget says she is her only friend, the look is more like she doesn't really want to be (kinda guilty)
Or, I suppose they could've just gone out to the tree and asked their friend Morgie who seems like a sweetheart to open it. Cuz not everyone who falls in with a "bad crowd" is a bad person. I also think Ella betrayed Bridget enough by ignoring her at a dance she herself had invited Bridget to, just because a prince she claimed to hardly be interested in was showing her attention. Her friend was pranked and Ella wasn't there for her at an extremely vulnerable time. She didn't have to do anything else, that alone was harmful enough, imo.
@sorchamiana accept for the part where they didn't know that they would need to do that, or uliana would have ran off with the book in the first place, but she opened it not knowing about the enchantment, so this would have happened either way
@@Melody-bourbonite4life weren't they just following Chloe and Red at that point though? I could be way off base but I feel like they were probably just there doing recon when they saw Chloe and Red breaking in and would've stolen the book later once they had a solid plan (which would include getting more info about the book) 🤷 idk tho I'm just speculating, lol.
when I heard brandi was going to be in this movie I thought we'd get an 'impossible' reprise . but her charming in it is even better and them singing 'this is love' is amazing
This literally blew me away. I'm still grateful that jump on the Descendants train and this movie brought back some of the magic I've been missing for a long time. The cast really gave it their all and they seem to have a good handle as they hold the torch from the OG cast. China Anne McClain and Melanie Paxson still haven't missed a beat and basically just picked up where they left off from D3 and the Royal Wedding. Kylie and Malia definitely have perfect chemistry between each other and they have a bright future ahead as they take over the franchise. Brandy and Paolo Montalban are just fantastic in this. I finally watched their Cinderella adaptation recently before the this movie came out and I understand why that one is beloved. Now they fit so perfectly in the Descendants world. Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts was another great choice cause you definitely don't want to mess with her by any means. And for her to say "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS" literally gave me goosebumps. Now the time travel shenanigans got me excited to most. Seeing what life was pre-Auradon was interesting and the younger heroes and villains were a delight. However, the ending had me scratching my head upon first viewing. Obviously, we've been hearing that the ending felt rushed and a big chunk of the movie was cut and from what I heard from sources, that definitely seems to be the case. Mainly a lot of stuff happened behind the scenes and maybe effect the structure of the plot which allowed it to get trimmed in a few places. Now I do believe that we'll get sequels after this cause timeline is probably not fix...YET. So the Queen of Hearts is good, but the question is how? If Ulyana's prank didn't happen then something else changed the timeline. Perhaps D5 will take us to the Castlecoming evening since we didn't see it here and show us the nexus event. I do have a theory that might be a bit of a stretch but it's something to think about. During the ending, the event in Auradon plays out the same way until the QoH shuffle her cards, now in this case bubble and now Cinderella is still alive, but since the QoH is good what if they made a switch on Cinderella and makes her evil now? Remember she got grounded by Lady Tremaine in the past, so since she didn't go to Castlecoming perhaps Tremaine took her on a villainous path and now in present she's hiding her "True" appearance when it's time to strike. Again it's a stretch but, pulling a switcheroo like would be a crazy twist if that's the case for the next movie. Plus, I should inform y'all that when Disney Channel airs the movie on Aug. 9th, that's the same day when the D23 Expo starts. So if this Descendants cast attends then we could get an announcement for a D5 & 6. After the Rise of Red left us with questions we definitely will more movies to get some answers. *Also come to your thoughts on the Royal Wedding. I watched it some many times and even though the animation felt rough, it's still essential to watch. Honestly with D3, this closes the story of the OGs especially with Mal and Ben getting married. That's the main story that we needed to end on. That's where they Core 4's journey finally concludes and behind the scenes the cast really wanted to say their final farewell since we lost Cameron Boyce in 2019 so they made the animated special to honor him and give the fans some closure.
I watched this over the weekend, and honestly, I was really disappointed. It felt like they only gave us the first two acts of a three-act story, leaving it incomplete. The whole movie sets up the anticipation that something bad is going to happen at the dance. In typical time travel movies, the twist is that what you think they are stopping isn't actually what stops it; it's usually something that happens at the actual dance. But in this movie, it just abruptly ends. It's obvious that this is just a setup for the next installment.
6/10. I don’t usually expect great story telling from Disney channel movies but one thing that I do expect is good music, and the only great song this movie had was red… :/ and maybe that pink feather cupcake song, but that’s me pushing it.
Please guys do lemonade mouth after this!! In my opinion its the BEST original movie Disney has put out, they explore really deep themes for a disney movie + they have some of the best songs, it was based on a book, i know you’ll love it!
My new favourite descendant movie! Seriously, I love everything 10×times more in this one ❤ The main flaws are stuff. I hope they adress/fix in the next one they tease.
You guys should watch Roger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella with Brandy and Whitney, Houston in it next it is so good and one of my favorite movies when I was little Bandy was Cinderella to me because of this move.
I think its a little funny how you say chloe and red have no chemistry seeing as Malia (Chloe's actress) and Kylie (Red's actress) actually said it was like friendship at first site and they were inseparable. They said it was actually hard to be insulting towards each other.

You guys should react to the Disney ZOMBIES movies. They’re pretty similar to Descendants.
I forgot they were in Grown-Ups together.

😭
Why would they recast him?

The budget is WAY higher than the first three because it’s more of a Disney Plus original movie than a Disney channel tv movie
I noticed that as well!
Should have used more of that budget to hire better writers.

Brandy played Cinderella in the Roger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella in 1997 which first aired on the wonder world of Disney and later was released on VHS.

Price charming was the same actor from that movie also.
@@Melody-bourbonite4life I know.
Brandy looks amazing as always but the prince looked younger somehow 😮

I love how raw they kept it with Cinderella's story. Being a victim of abuse as well as being orphaned is one of the realest and close to heart stories for many kids, and it just wouldn't help to sugar-fy it. I also love how she was the one who explained that bridget is strong cause she still chooses to be kind even when people are awful to her cause that was the basic essence of Cinderella as a character in her original films
The reason why Red hates her mother more than usual. It's because in the book she lost her 2 friends Ace and Chester to her. She turned Ace into one of her soldiers and Chester into a cheshire cat.

This is a different reality- the book doesn't matter in this case.

Kylie Cantrall is really good as Red. Her titular song and her version of "What's My Name?" are great too. Also, I like how uma went from Auradon Prep's biggest enemy, to it's principal, and I love that China Anne McClain reprised the role.

I rewatched it though the story/plot of the OG Cinderella has no connection to D4

Their my fav version of Cinderella and Prince Charming
It's one of my favorite movies, and I know it word from word. Drove my mom crazy lol
They should have made it so that the prank ended up happening. But Bridget ended up forgiving it...because of her daughters influence.
I hope they go more in depth about it in the next movie. I love this movie but the ending felt rushed.
I am so happy that Brandy is back as Cinderella

Her tears were REEEAALLL 😭😭 and due to Cameron's death, they had to make Carlos die too 😭😭
A lot of people are disappointed with the ending but this is only part one.

Well the movies aren’t connected, it’s more of a multiverse so I don’t think she would need to play Fairy Godmother. May she rest in peace.
I love how smooth that transition was right into red’s song that was fire especially that part where they did that little flash on the back of red’s hoodie before the song started.
The person who played Queen Of Hearts is Rita Ora
( *Taika Waititi's wife* )
THAT’S where I’ve seen her!!!
Well I think that’s what the second one to this is going to be about.

Perfect revenge and Love ain’t it were 🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥
Villains have the best songs!!
Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella is my favorite Cinderella movie. If you haven't watched it, I strongly recommend it. Made such a huge impact on little me and my love for movies. Also the cast is bananas.🤩🤩
I second this vote
Dude it's so good the cast and songs are great. I love all 3 versions of Cinderella old school Rogers and Hammerstein and the Disney live action.
R&H's Cinderella was adapted for the screen three times 57, 65 and 97.
Whats cool is war and hearts are both types of card games so she is literally playing her favorite games
Yeah, It’s really weird that they set it up really well, but didn’t commit to it in the end.
I felt the same way. 30 more minutes wrapping it up would’ve made it better. It feels unfinished
@@cali.tattoosthat’s the point. The movie is actually a 2 part film. This was part 1, the 5th movie is in production rn
wow, this movie was totally great and of course pays the tribute to the late Cameron Boyce. RIP 🕊️🙏🏻
Perfect 🫶
True I just hope the ending red can't change the past and has to change her mother who is in the present, I also hope there is a scene where Bridget sees Ella dancing with prince charming this made Bridget even more disappointed because Ella didn't help her,
but anyway this is only part 1 but i feel like they want to create a new universe because if one thing is changed in the past the future will also change

Omggg yes Brandy and her Prince Charming Paolo were in the 1997 Cinderella together!!
Finally!! I've been waiting for this to drop since last Friday after I saw the film. No other Rejects reaction was as important as this one.
Btw, it is the same Prince Charming when Brandy played Cinderella, I got chills finding that out
apparently the scripts for the movie were split into two parts so this was made to be a part 1 but if they’d established that this was a part 1 and there was a sequel coming i think it would’ve made more sense for the implications of the time travel and the weak climax. i do agree there needed to be more humor and development with the main characters, and cutbacks to cinderella in present day!
21:00 Really love the cold and commanding "No." from the Queen of Hearts here upon the Fairy Godmother's swaying of wand. It's just iconic. haha
Glad I'm watching this one in honor of Cameron Boyce, who left us WAY too soon!!!!!!🥺
First two are great but the third film is the same as this one 😂

all I'll say is, watching this movie reminded me of a dialogue from hsmtmts s4, "kenny ortega where are you when i need you."
Like, I was literally watching someone squeeze goop out of a vegetable and somehow they managed to make that more entertaining than a talking dog 🤷😅
They made and entire movie without a central romance plot and yet it wasn't at all boring. That's something the entire AroAce community will certainly feel represented by.
The costumes were great even without having Evie's design skills. And the CG was sooooo impressive. 🎉
They used their "big names" like Malificent and Hades and Hook just enough that we were able to get a feel for that history without it seeming like they were relying on them as a crutch.
Both Brandy and Paolo Montalbon are reprising their roles from the 1997 Cinderella movie!
It makes me wonder if their mother's realize what they've done as they were growing up they had to have realized they look exactly like the people in their youths right?
Oh my gosh, I didn't even think of that! 😂 I wonder if they'll address that in the next movie 😅
I mean they knew them for a week and they watched their kids grow up grzdually. If the girls tell them they might realize it.
The stunt double for Red is at the beginning on the roof
Cinderella's story was so compelling in this one!
I definitely understand wanting a longer run time tho ☺️❤️
that is definitely an opinion...
found it funny asf in certain scenes when they were dancing and singing/rapping and there was no music , the shoulder twitch 😂🤣
Ella was also acting wierd every time the dance and their friendship was mentioned.
I was thinking about that!I was looking at Bridget's face when she gave cupcakes to Prince Charming and she looked in love, I was thinking if Ella was jealous of her and that's why she did the prank
I get that too but we don't really get that from what we saw of her - maybe they'll give us more details later in the next movie.
@@zatanna8355 I mean maybe, but he's clearly interested in her - well whatever happened we need more details, and Ella and Bridget need to talk this out completely.

Kylie Cantrall was one of the reasons I wanted to see the film because I practically grew up with her during my tween years
I absolutely love this movie.
Brandy’s voice is otherworldly 💙
Rita Ora (Queen of Hearts) actually IS white, she just has a darker skin tone. She’s Albanian.
I subscribe because I’ve been looking all over for the full movie. That’s actually on TH-cam that people react to that actually an hour and I finally found it. Thanks to you guys.
Brandy and her charming are replaying thier roles from the old Brady Cinderella musical
Yall the Brandy Cinderella IS THE BEST ONE! You have to watch it! ❤❤
Absolutely loved this movie plus my favorite songs from it are Red, Love Ain't It, Life is Sweeter and Get Your Hands Dirty 😄❤🎶🎥💙
Wow you guys are really on board for these Disney channel movies
greg talking abt brandy's cinderella being 30yrs old when i was born in 1997 and i’m still three years away from 30. OUCHHH!! LOL
Same except I turn 27 in September 😅
@@MichaelaEvans i turn 27 in october 🥲
The actress who plays red Kylie plays a character in season 4 of hsmtmts
Precisely. They actually did nothing that stopped the bad kids' plan and it is weird that they think they thought they did.
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS REACTION
Same
when I heard brandi was going to be in this movie I thought we'd get an 'impossible' reprise . but her charming in it is even better and them singing 'this is love' is amazing
The Cinderella with Brandi was
Paolo Montalban’s first movie
Tera, your personality and sense of humor make you a winner.
Oh facts did you know that they mentioned chad charming from the first three movies brandy mentioned him to king charming
This movie is short because its part 1 which was confirmed by the actress for fairyGodmother
The person that plays, the queen of hearts is Rita Ora
BRANDY STILL GOT IT!!!!!😊
I watched this over the weekend, and honestly, I was really disappointed.
It’s because this is part 1 of the full story, the actress of the fairy godmother confirmed it
That’s RITA ORA! And yes that is the OG actors from the 1997 Cinderella! Love love LOVED this
Rate this movie out of 10! How do you feel it compares to the original trilogy?
5/10
8.5
6/10. I don’t usually expect great story telling from Disney channel movies but one thing that I do expect is good music, and the only great song this movie had was red… :/ and maybe that pink feather cupcake song, but that’s me pushing it.
5/10
5/10. Red is open mouth lol. Beer Game +1 sips lmao
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for you guys to react to this. 😌❤️
In this movie you get hints of “Back To The Future 1”
Please guys do lemonade mouth after this!! In my opinion its the BEST original movie Disney has put out, they explore really deep themes for a disney movie + they have some of the best songs, it was based on a book, i know you’ll love it!
My new favourite descendant movie!
Seriously, I love everything 10×times more in this one ❤
The main flaws are stuff. I hope they adress/fix in the next one they tease.

I think its a little funny how you say chloe and red have no chemistry seeing as Malia (Chloe's actress) and Kylie (Red's actress) actually said it was like friendship at first site and they were inseparable. They said it was actually hard to be insulting towards each other.
