This is the meanest movie is such a good description for this movie. I loved it, they built up on the first one and made this truly a great sequel. Naomi Scott was wonderful in this.
13:15 I don't know if anyone caught this. But in the first film when Rose was doing the interview with Laura she said "It's Thursday, October." Which is nice knowing how they kpt the chronology intact. Because this would have been 3 weeks after that. So it's logical that it would take place in early Dec/late Nov.

@@guillaumepare5080 maybe for you, but that's simply a subjective view on things. I enjoy the reactions from all their reactors. Matter of fact, you could say they were the channel that sort of started this style of reaction channel. Now you see quite a few channels that have multiple reactors that swap around for each video.
I loved how at one point in the movie the entity tells Skye, "I've been waiting for you," and at first I just imagined that as it trying to terrify her. In hindsight I'm thinking that maybe it meant that it finally "possessed" a person with such a large reach, so that it can "infect" as many people as possible in that last scene on stage.
Like Morris, there may have been multiple people who would've understood the entity's M.O. I think the entity felt threatened that it won't survive by latching on one person at a time, because there may be a chance that someone like Morris won't wait around for the host, and just end them himself. Which is why Riley became a perfect host. Hell, the entity called Riley over itself. Lewis didn't message Riley to come over. She was set up from the beginning. And the fact that she was recovering only exacerbated her situation, as no one would ever believe her.
@@gabrielgroenendaal3007 Exactly it's crazy how many people believe it'll infect hundreds of people suddenly. I think her unaliving herself on stage was written in more for shock factor rather than alluding to the whole audience is screwed.
@@gabrielgroenendaal3007 Yeah, it certainly would have reached more people than just doing it in front of one. But even in one of those locations there is a pretty decent cap on how many people would see the actual killing, much less the smiling face. However up on stage at a Pop Star's concert, where tens of thousands of people could see the killing and the creepy smile is bound to reach way more people.
Smile 3 is gonna be interesting. We as the audience don’t know all the exact rules are yet and the entity likely found a loophole in its own rule for immortality possibly. There’s a lot of directions you can go with it in both plot and the thesis of the film
When the entity put its hand in her mouth at her house, that's when it achieved total body control. The entity was controlling her body, while her mind was stuck in a limbo, which is the part we saw in the movie. The last time entity released her was on stage, when it wanted to play the last step.
@aleksandarradovanovic8496 no i think the original comment is right. Hes a real person and the only real interaction she had with him was at the bar and you'll notice in that scene, her phone keeps ringing from different people, that may have been the demon to distract her
Indeed the first meeting was real since Morris explained in great detail how to defeat the demon, which caused the demon to speed up the possession process.
27:34 Trichotillomania. I unfortunately have that. I am a male and yes Trichotillomania generally affects females more than males. But whoever it affects it id devastating to. This movie is one of few movies that have Trichotillomania in it and I was absolutely impressed and taken back by her performance and the way they showed the reality of Trichotillomania. It's different for everyone affiliated but there is a commonality that we all share.
Funny thing is when I saw this in theaters and Skye knocked over the old lady, I went from “oh no poor lady” and then not a second later “WAIT, if the old lady dies from that fall and everyone saw that, Skye is freed from the curse!” haha
@@petejohnes8442 also the cop in the beginning could have just shot the person he was holding hostage. But he went an extra mile and stabbed him multiple times. The deed must be messy- the messier, the more traumatic, the better.
The idea of what they did with the ending by having the entire stadium see it is a potential evolution of the rules of Smile that I did not see coming, but I am all here for if they want to make a third film go bigger. Could this entity get passed off to people like that? Making it so that it becomes a disease. Eventually, to the point where almost everyone has it.👀
I’ve always thought it was a visual representation of different types of mental health like carrying anxiety and trauma around, so it affecting a whole group of people at the end makes so much sense
Tbh the sec I heard it was a pop star I imagined it Would end like this but still loved it. Expecting it made me more interested to see how she would end up there so didn't ruin the film at all, you kinda expect them to die anyway.
@@RS-bn1ty ya and to that point if I remember correctly, one of her fans spoke to her about how she helped them with their mental health. I could be wrong about that but I vaguely remember that.
0:10 fun fact for me- not that anyone really cares but I find it funny and will tell it any chance I can: in the last few years my antidepressants have become time sensitive- where if I don’t take it within literally 30 minutes my brain starts doing a whom-whom thing- so I just adjusted a pre-existing alarm for 11:11pm. And the song for my antidepressants just so happened to be Smile Like You Mean It by The Killers. It hasn’t changed.
The mental gymnastics this franchise put our minds through is insane. And you can definitely see where they put the extra budget at in this film but didn’t go overboard with it
that’s what kept going through my head while watching the movie, especially when skye smears her makeup slightly downward it reminds me of a frown. the hands on her face seem to prioritize the corners of the lips too, like you know the thing where some people point at the corner of the lips with the pointer or thumbs and say to smile
Naomi Scott acted THE HELL out of this role, goddammit she was phenomenal! 1:01:10 - I can only imagine Roxy Striar's face seeing this scene HAHAHA homegirl hates needles And since this one stablishes that the entity went viral, I think that the clever way to go about a 3rd installment is making it a prequel, it could be about that first girl who passes the curse to Rose in the first movie (she was barely in the movie but she did GREAT) or to go even further in the past and try to explain when it all started, who was the first person infected by this? I think that would be a very cool way to explore the lore without ruining what we already have.
Gemma spoke to the mom the mom never spoke to her or even acknowledged he existence. I rewatched after seeing this at the movies specifically looking to see if anyone acknowledged her… sky asked her to come to rehearsals and she didn’t go so if you rewatch sky is the only one who interacts with Gemma it was brilliant.
I absolutely loved this opening of the film. It picked up basically exactly where I was hoping it would. And I think overall this film was far more impactful to me than the first, especially because not all of the scares were given away in the trailer. Also, the set up at the ending? Terrifying possibilities! I really hope there’s a third.
I’m so excited for this reaction! Your reaction to the first movie was so fun! I love the Shejects (and everyone else too!) but there’s nothing like the original duo!
Notice how the mom never acknowledged Gemma’s presence. She for sure would have since she pushed skye to call her. She would have been happy to see her
I also noticed that. Joel had much more mental strength than the average Joe to do a complex task such as carrying out a plan to pass the entity on without getting the dr strange treatment from the entity. Just wish he never stayed to apologize to Lewis 😢
Yes but also why was she around to say hi when skye was in the other room? Did skye say bye to her in front of her mom? Was she gone when skye came back? Wouldn't sky have inquired where her friend went ro if she were gone?
@@dorathedestroyer4081 so she assumed she left without saying bye? Wasn't gemma only partially dressed at the time? Skye wouldn't question why mom doesn't even mention Gemma? I mean mom was the one pushing for them to reunite seems weird to not even address the change.
@tnashi22 you do realize they are in a rush to leave for the rehearsal thingy. There is no time for chit chat. Gemma was only partially dressed but its not like she moved in at skye's apartment. All she had to do is change and take her stuff and leave
I know Peter Jacobson from the show House which is funny cause I know the wife of the teacher, who killed himself with a hammer in the first movie, played Carla from Scrubs. This franchise is assembling the “doctor sitcom” universe.
I like Smile 1 but Smile 2 actively raised my anxiety after. I needed to just take my mind off of it for some reason. This one captured that feeling of how scary hopelessness and depression mixed with anxiety can be. Great video as always!
Naomi Scott genuinely deserves a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars 2025 but we all know she will get snubbed just like Mia Goth in Pearl. Anyway, I hope they make a third and final smile film!
I can't believe I saw her in that Power Rangers film and didn't even realize she was the same actress. Amazing what a new hairstyle can do. The way this movie ended really made me curious as to how they'll manage to do the third film based on how the demon functions. But whenever it drops, I hope to be in a theater watching it.
The creepiest part is the ending when she comes face-to face with her "former" self. She looks up and sees her former self crying and looking down at her. Extremely disturbing and very creepy. Her former self looks extremely creepy.
The flashback of the aftermath following the car accident was genuinely upsetting. Naomi Scott’s screams of pain, terror, and grief were so fucking realistic.
Another great reaction guys! This was a great sequel. You felt for the main character and could feel her descent into hopelessness & madness. Just a phenomenal performance by Naomi Scott! One thing I found interesting was the 'eye' references. In Riley's apartment, while she plays the piano, there is an eye sculpture to the left of it. The "dancers" knock Riley unconscious by slamming the right side of her face into the piano, blacking her right eye, but it's her left eye from the viewer's perspective. The last stab to Riley's mother was to her right eye; again our left. Right after her mother is killed, there is an eye pattern in the blood on Riley’s gown. And Riley uses the microphone to impale herself into her right eye, our left. Not sure of the significance, if any, of it but thought it was an interesting insight. Looking forward to Smile 3!
56:58 its was at this moment the 2nd to final stage of the Smile possession happens, and everything she experiences after is all an elaborate illusion in her mind.
This is definitely one of my favorite films of the year. Naomi Scott gives an Oscar nomination worthy performance, her character is so real with all her flaws. Ray Nicholson hopefully does more horror films or psychological thrillers, his acting reminds me of his legendary father
The entity tells Skye that it’s been waiting for her for a long time. Someone of Skye’s celebrity automatically gives the creature access to thousands of new victims to infect which is exactly what happens at the end of the movie.
Joel is by far the strongest willed person to have the smile entity for 6 days and even managing to pass it on. Just messed up they killed him off by bad luck

That’s dangerous and could’ve killed her. Hmm.
@@jl9480 yeahh that is not safe drinking that much water and so quickly can drown you
@jl9480 seriously, water poisoning is very real
This is the meanest movie is such a good description for this movie. I loved it, they built up on the first one and made this truly a great sequel. Naomi Scott was wonderful in this.

I don't know if anyone caught this. But in the first film when Rose was doing the interview with Laura she said
"It's Thursday, October."
Which is nice knowing how they kpt the chronology intact. Because this would have been 3 weeks after that. So it's logical that it would take place in early Dec/late Nov.

Did you like Smile 2 more than the first???
Yes I did
They’re both so good in their own ways that it’s hard to know but I think I liked Smile 2 more than the first
Yea it made me smile
Yes!! Im a huge musical fan and this soundtrack is insane
, mixed my two worlds😂 , But I did felt like I connected more to Skye story than the others
YES
Fun Fact: Her dancers are all people who have worked with Doja Cat, Ariana, Usher and Taylor!
The camera work, the score, the jump scares, the acting, it's all SO GOOD!!! Best new horror franchise in years!
Success to great films is by utilizing all aspects of filmmaking to its fullest extent. Not just using one or more but by using all.
Not only waiting for her, but waiting to become strong enough by infecting people over the ages.
Couldn't the entity have killed itself in like... time square or any crowded city if they just wanted reach?
Smile 3: Pandemic
@@damiettamataram3492And the only way to keep the smile from spreading is to wear masks 🫤 But we all know how that plays out
it could be a pretty good sequel or could be what ruins the franchise, hope it works out.
I doubt it can infect more than one person at once. I think it will jump to a random person in the crowd to avoid being tracked down by Morris.
An apocalyptic smile movie would be so tough
I don’t think I’ve been in a theater where ppl are genuinely freaked out and on edge in a while this was such a surprise
The fact that Gemma was just a figment of the entity the ENTIRE time was the best twist in recent horror!
1:08:50 Gemma did say hi to her mom, but we didn't see her mom react to Gemma
If she went with Morris after the bar she could've lived. Everything after the dancers invasion was an ilusion. crazy stuff.
When the entity put its hand in her mouth at her house, that's when it achieved total body control. The entity was controlling her body, while her mind was stuck in a limbo, which is the part we saw in the movie. The last time entity released her was on stage, when it wanted to play the last step.
Morris was not real. Ever since she wore the performance suit the 1st time (complaining about the scar under lights) was an ilusion
Is it stress related?
the mom didn't say hi back to gemma
I finally realized it's because Gemma was never there it was the entity pretending to be her
Gemma was also holding the mocha cups upside down
51:21 he mentioned 8 people before her thats roughly 2 months because it takes around a Week until it kills you.
Funny thing is when I saw this in theaters and Skye knocked over the old lady, I went from “oh no poor lady” and then not a second later “WAIT, if the old lady dies from that fall and everyone saw that, Skye is freed from the curse!” haha
It only works with the death is traumatic enough for it to spread.
But the woman didn't die tho?
@@AnvilPicturesBruh who told you that? 😭

Like even though I saw the ending coming I was still intrigued on how the journey would be to get there! It was crazy!!
fun fact: if Lewis seems familiar, he is played by Lukas Gage, who was in Road House with Jake Gyllenhall, which released earlier this year
And Fargo S5
I recognized him from You
He's Also in You season 4 and Euphoria season 1
Dang! You're right!
He was in first season of White Lotus. Yeah, in that scene 🍑
Crazy because when the first trailer dropped, EVERYONE and their mom predicted that ending. Lol
Calling it now, there's gonna be a shot in the third movie with all those people forming a big smile with their corpses.
Man, I’m on anxiety meds and I really hope that doesn’t happen to me cuz my anxiety would get worse lmao
@ I’m on those, too!
The mental gymnastics this franchise put our minds through is insane. And you can definitely see where they put the extra budget at in this film but didn’t go overboard with it
The intro of this movie was so good.
18:41 I wonder if the upside down scenes throughout the films is play on the saying “lets turn that frown upside down”
that’s what kept going through my head while watching the movie, especially when skye smears her makeup slightly downward it reminds me of a frown. the hands on her face seem to prioritize the corners of the lips too, like you know the thing where some people point at the corner of the lips with the pointer or thumbs and say to smile
Ohhh I like that
Naomi Scott acted THE HELL out of this role, goddammit she was phenomenal!
1:01:10 - I can only imagine Roxy Striar's face seeing this scene HAHAHA homegirl hates needles
And since this one stablishes that the entity went viral, I think that the clever way to go about a 3rd installment is making it a prequel, it could be about that first girl who passes the curse to Rose in the first movie (she was barely in the movie but she did GREAT) or to go even further in the past and try to explain when it all started, who was the first person infected by this?
I think that would be a very cool way to explore the lore without ruining what we already have.
This was more intense and scarier than the first one 😂 Naomi Scott deserves an award for her performance because it was brillant!
This movie will be a classic.. im 57 and haven't been this excited about a horror movie since the grunge.. this one has layers
Greg downing the water killed me lmao
Naomi Scott was also in the Charlie’s Angels remake which I love - think I’m the only one who does - but I think she’s awesome.
Love you two reacting together. Y'all are the REAL-REEL REJECTS!! 😎
I’m so excited for this reaction! Your reaction to the first movie was so fun! I love the Shejects (and everyone else too!) but there’s nothing like the original duo!
Notice how the mom never acknowledged Gemma’s presence. She for sure would have since she pushed skye to call her. She would have been happy to see her
I love that Joel lasts six days and is able ignore the entity (woman on fire) because he doesn't have the trauma it like s to feed off.
I also noticed that. Joel had much more mental strength than the average Joe to do a complex task such as carrying out a plan to pass the entity on without getting the dr strange treatment from the entity. Just wish he never stayed to apologize to Lewis 😢
I think the scene where she is running from the dancers is soooo good! One of my favorite modern horror scenes!
Gemma did say hi to skye's mom but notice that mom did not respond or said anything back so gemma never stayed at skye's apartment
Yes but also why was she around to say hi when skye was in the other room? Did skye say bye to her in front of her mom? Was she gone when skye came back? Wouldn't sky have inquired where her friend went ro if she were gone?
@tnashi22 when skye finished preparing and get her stuff, she assumed gemma already left after telling her she needs to go see a friend
Shes also holding the cups upside down
I know Peter Jacobson from the show House which is funny cause I know the wife of the teacher, who killed himself with a hammer in the first movie, played Carla from Scrubs. This franchise is assembling the “doctor sitcom” universe.
Also In the previous film they had another actor from the same run of House the director must be a fan of the show
Same. I forget carla was in the first tho
Undisputed duo! Glad to see you guys cover a movie together again.
The opening scene is one of the best I've seen this year after DP and Wolverine.
20:52 fun fact. They weren't even sponsored by it😂
I like Smile 1 but Smile 2 actively raised my anxiety after. I needed to just take my mind off of it for some reason. This one captured that feeling of how scary hopelessness and depression mixed with anxiety can be. Great video as always!
What Skye went through in this film makes what rose endured look like a walk in the park😬
Naomi Scott genuinely deserves a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars 2025 but we all know she will get snubbed just like Mia Goth in Pearl. Anyway, I hope they make a third and final smile film!
Not going to happen. The Academy always snubs horror
These movies always kindof remind me of 1408 where you’re like “wait… is anything real?” Lol
there are some really great shots throughout the movie.
Loved the 1-shot intro especially
I can't believe I saw her in that Power Rangers film and didn't even realize she was the same actress. Amazing what a new hairstyle can do. The way this movie ended really made me curious as to how they'll manage to do the third film based on how the demon functions. But whenever it drops, I hope to be in a theater watching it.
Something about John and Greg makes me warm and fuzzy. If awards noticed horror then Toni Collette needs hers for Hereditary!
The creepiest part is the ending when she comes face-to face with her "former" self. She looks up and sees her former self crying and looking down at her. Extremely disturbing and very creepy.
Her former self looks extremely creepy.
“LOOK AT ME” big eyes creepy smile
Surprisingly a banger , the writing in this one was chefs kiss
Naomi Scott looks like a cross between Emilia Clarke and a young Sarah Michelle Geller in this
The flashback of the aftermath following the car accident was genuinely upsetting. Naomi Scott’s screams of pain, terror, and grief were so fucking realistic.
Exceptional reaction, fantastic discussion afterwards. Hope they make another sequel
I appreciate your very kind consistent comments :)
@@ReelRejects Thanks. I appreciate how entertaining your reactions are. Take good care and looking forward to the next ones

Her songs reminds me a lot of 2007 lady gaga, the lyrics and the voice.
Naomi Scott is the one who wrote and performed the songs in this movie. Super talented, and her acting is next level amazing.
With or without the entity, this movie is basically showing being a popstar is a living nightmare 💀
Fun fact The water wasn’t the sponsor of the movie and honest to God I think Naomi Scott should get an Oscar ❤❤
Joel is by far the strongest willed person to have the smile entity for 6 days and even managing to pass it on. Just messed up they killed him off by bad luck
