I have a Oldtimer Bowie Knife from Schrade....at First I didn't like it because the Handle of the Knife was plastic...so I took the plastic off and I got a peace of wood from my Mother Back yard Tree ...I put them on this Knife i made them a little longer then what the company had put on the Knife...and I made them to fit my Hands ...and it add some weight to the over all Knive and now it feels Great in my Hands and now I really like the Knife I put it next to my Bed because now it feels like a really good Knife...so now it's a Trusted Knife...remember I said when I first got the Knife I was thinking it was just junk...now I put new handles on its now its one of my Favorite Knives
So you thought this knife was junk because of the handles? Now you think it’s amazing because you put new handles on it? Still trying to figure this one out.
My oldest stepson and I each have one. I use mine for yard work knife. Chopping plants and weeds in the flower bed. I collect knives and it's the cheapest. If I break it Walmart sales them for $25 bucks. Lol
I purchased one at Christmas time around 2017 or so at Walmart. It came with a lock blade foldable pocket knife as well all for about $20.00. I have been very satisfied with my purchase. I see critical comments here in this section but my experience is different from their critiques. Now 2024 the knife has not " snapped into" during use. I don't use it for the intended purpose of seeing how much abuse it will take before it does. Not being a purist on the matter I have received a number of compliments when I've worn it in public. Usually on outdoor excursions. People can't believe I only payed what I did for it a short few years ago. Truth is I've never seen the offer again since I purchased it. I'd say I got far more then my money's worth from it already. It's still impressive looking. To the critic I'd only say their requirements and mine just don't coalesce. Just call me satisfied.
That collector gene is strong. 😂 I have a old one with the sheath signed by Jim Frost and a cold steel tanto , I saw a video of them throwing it and had to have it . 😂😂
Of course you have the Cold Steel Tanto! It’s crazy to me how similar our taste in gear is. Haha. I’ve been looking at the Cold Steel Tanto line recently, for no other reason than they are huge and awesome, and have really been eyeballing that big big one. I think it’s the XII model. That blade is so gnarly and I love that it’s just big. Haha. I’ll have one when they go on sale. I promise you that. 😅😂
I had sent you a pic a month or so ago of my Western Bowie. I sent pics to the collectible guy at Smoky Mountain Knife Works and his reply was "genuine piece of American Cutlery history" - it's a 1970 Western W49 Bowie.
I saw it! I emailed you back about that. I love Bowie knives. I just love how utilitarian they are and how overbuilt they feel. I picked this one up on a whim on eBay when I saw it going for $20 and I love it. That Bowie you have is an entirely different animal though. That’s a piece of Americana at its finest my friend. 🇺🇸
If you're amazed by this piece, then you should see my collection. I got dozens of big ass Bowie knives. I have a shit ton of fixed blades in general, but I love Bowie knives. My Bowie collection runs from $20 pieces up to $400 pieces.
I love Bowie Knives! Especially huge ones. Haha. You’ll have to shoot me over some pictures of your collection sometime! It’ll definitely give me some good ideas! I’m learning that I might enjoy fixed blades over most folders. I love the simplicity and how much easier they are to maintain than folders. Especially for EDC knives.
Actually, $47.00 now on Amazon. Luckily for me, I bought 2 at Tractor Supply several years ago for less than $20.00. Fought that's the case now. Great to baton with, long enough to stab a rabid raccoon !
I own both of those old timer knives and both have been solid love my little one it's a trooper

This Bowie knife and folder combo are on sale at Chicago knife works for $22.98
Interesting Bowie, but the sheath turns me off.
I'd have to have a proper sheath made.

I'd have a hard time not buying it for 15 bucks.

That’s all I’ve been able to think when I see the knife after I made this video. 😂🤣

The steel is utter garbage.
Uh .. Bowie..not booey .
No it's pronounced booey. The famous musician admitted he'd been saying it wrong for decades
Uh…Booey!
The tang is supposed to stick out at the bottom
