In my years on earth, I swear that I have never heard anything negative about Johnny Crawford. He always seem to have that sparkle in his eye and that dazzling smile on his face. Those plus his memorable run on the Rifleman will be forever etched into television. He will be a television legend who will be missed. We all mourn together. RIP.
I've loved the RIFLEMAN all my life. The way CHUCK & JOHNNY 's chemistry blended together was one of uniqueness. To this day, I still watch the show every day in reruns in Chicago at PM. When I found out last month that he past away, I broke my heart & I cried for this very special man. My mom died with Alzheimers in 2000. I'm 66 years old& finding myself forgetting things, can't find something, will get distracted when talking about something; all the things that JOHNNY went thru. As long as I live, I will continue to watch the RIFLEMAN, love JOHNNY CRAWFORD

Debra. Its April 17. 2924. Your comment brought tears. You're still young. I will be 82 this year, and I experience many things you talk about. But My mind is still sharp. Sometimes I wish it wasn't. I'm so alone and sad. I hope you're doing well. My best to you, from a great grandmother, alone in Nontana.
I was caregiver for my father, and later for my brother who both suffered from dementia. It is indeed heartbreaking to see this horrible disease claim yet another wonderful person.
@@tdcmachine It's very, very difficult to watch a mentally sharp, alert person deteriorate mentally. I cared for my mother for 5yrs before she was finally placed in a nursing home because it got to be too much.
I watched my Mom go through the stages of Alzheimer’s. it breaks my heart to see Johnny face this. Not only does the Alzheimer’s patient need constant care, the family needs to take care of themselves too, because the stress has a negative effect on everyone. Praying for the family, and hoping for a cure soon for this horrible disease.
I am so terribly sorry about your mother & having to watch her go through this insidious disease that not only ravages the person that has this horrible disease, but the “family” as well, having to watch their loved one go through this! Prayers to you & your family!❤️
My Dad has early on dementia also he jest turned 81 in April. It’s a very tragic disease but I watched my uncle back in 2007 get a diagnosis of ALS. That’s one VERY TRAGIC DISEASE TO HAVE AND WATCH UR FAMILY MEMBER CANT DO WHAT THEY ALWAYS DID R TALK AND WALK. He passed less than a year from being diagnosed. He was only 61 at that time. He lived on the family farm up til he had to come stay at my parents house to take care of him and I helped. His mind was STILL THERE JEST COULD NOT TALK AFTER ONLY 6 months of being diagnosed. DONT wish these disease on any of my Worst enemies. Sorry to hear of your loss of your mother and will keep the Crawford’s family in my prayers. I jest came upon this today 10-11-2020.
Can't find the words to express my feelings about this interview. Of course, I enjoyed the program but it was painful to see Johnny struggle to communicate. Glad to see you're reminding folks that Johnny still needs financial support.
Another fantastic interview, Rob. Yes, Alzheimer’s is a very ugly disease. It’s heartbreaking to see the ones you love go through this horrible process, I have too. Sending heartfelt prayers to the Crawford family and their friends.
What a wonderful interview! I just wanted to reach through my computer screen and give everyone a huge bear hug! Many times while watching the Rifleman and Laramie, I too, was transported through my imagination, back to the "hard, horse ridin' west". Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Lucas and Mark McCain embodied the father/son relationship I wish I had with my father. Watching the bond of love and respect which Chuck and Johnny portrayed in The Rifleman became my blueprint for what a man should be; Strong yet Sensitive. Thank you for the privilege of many of life’s lessons learned from the work which Chuck, Johnny, and all the good folk of North Fork brought to this lonely boy so many years ago! RIP JOHNNY💜 🤠
Similarly, Laramie embodied things, too: most important, that people thrown together by necessity and circumstances can bond as something of a family. This occurred twice on the show. Both Laramie and The Rifleman had one thing in common: often, their stories involved people who wanted and needed second chances and who just wanted to not be judged and move on in their lives.
I just recently started reruns of Laramie and saw the name Crawford. I had watched all the Rifleman series reruns also, and ended up completely surprised these two young men were brothers. I certainly appreciate their wonderful additions to these two westerns!
@@iylamchoney3391 I didn't start watching the Rifleman until much older. Same with 'Rawhide'. Some of these rerun shows just did not come on in my neighborhood. Clint Eastwood movies were always on. Lol
We look so forward to these interviews, Rob. These discussions bring back the very best of the innocence and joy of childhood. This era was truly the "best of times." We sincerely thank you for efforts to chronicle an oral Western history.
My own parents suffered with this horrible disease. It was heartwarming to see Johnny sparkle as he did. Great thanks to all of you for this wonderful interview!
Both of the Brothers I grew up watching on Television and now they're back on METV It's fun reliving my Youth, So says A 70 going on 71 Man. I've been a musician and Songwriter. I've had some success but I'm not here to talk about me rather those 2 wonderful brothers ❤
He was our student body president at Hollywood High. One afternoon he put on a great show riding his horse and lassoing just about anything in front of him. Unforgettable moment for me. Great guy!!!
I met Robert in Williamsburg Nostalgia Festival in 2019. My husband had passed away from Alzheimer's and Robert was so kind in talking with me and we talked about Johnny and his battle with the terrible illness and we both were very sad.
Great interview! I love Johnny Crawford’s many hit records and would love to hear him talk about them! Knew of Bobby as well and found this very, very interesting! Bravo!
Wonderful interview. So good to see the Crawford brothers, the family. What a contribution to the arts each have made - including your contribution preserving the Western genre, Rob Word!
I just love this show ! I love all the episodes ! Lovely to see these two young actors after so long! You were so kind Rob when Johnny was struggling. Sad to see him like this.
I did not know Johnny Crawford was ill with dementia. I still watch re-runs of the Rifeman. So sad to see him struggle to speak. You can see how his brother Robert is looking after him. So sad.
I can't tell you what a thrill it has been to watch this interview. I am a newcomer to watching The Rifleman. I am going to be getting two knee replacements and I have had to spend many hours sitting in my recliner with splints on my knees to make them straight . I discovered The Rifleman through me TV. The Rifleman has gotten me through many hours discomfort but I am comforted and distracted by watching this wonderful TV show. I have even gotten my 17 year old daughter into watching the show too, plus my husband. I lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's and my dad had dementia, so I know the pain of watching someone's memories disappear. As soon as I can I'm going to donate to Johnny's GoFundMe page. Hopefully Johnny's brother's show will come to me tv and I will become acquainted with it as well. Thank you Johnny Crawford for helping me through my time of pain with my knees. May God find a cure for dementia some day. Johnny Crawford you look like the nicest person in the world. You have an awesome brother too, who looks like he looks after you and loves you with all his heart!
Robert and Johnny; two of my favorite actors . My father is 97, and we both watch both shows almost everyday on tv. You both are like family to me. You both bring such warm feelings to me,and I know, to my father also. Thank you so much for appearing again. It was a great pleasure to see you both . Thank you Again. I wish both of you, continued happiness .
Thanks, Mike. More of this interview on tomorrow's A WORD ON WESTERNS. Robert graciously takes charge and talks about his Emmy and Oscar winning work on BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID and THE STING. Johnny's there but, sadly, unable to contribute due to his Alzheimer's disease. Best regards to your western loving Father!
Johnny Crawford a gentleman on and off the screen. One of those actors that the first time you saw him you knew he had talent. He could have stayed a boy and played Mark McCain the rest of his life.We all know that was not possible he had to grow up.Rest in peace Johnny. You were simply the best ,better then all the rest has a child actor.
I felt sad and angry that Johnny died from such a wicked disease. My mom suffered from it. These were the two handsomest boy actors i can think of. Both seemed like genuinely 'good, down to earth ppl'. I just love westerns. Looked liked these brothers were very close. R.I.P. Johnny, you're def missed.
Your not alone, Shirley. I was 9 when he stole my heart, grew up in the 60's to his music, which i still listen to. I'm 71 now and he still makes my heart go pitter-patter. He is surrounded by his loving wife and his family now. I, too, wish i had funds to send, but prayers will have to do foŕ now. Thanks for the show.

I Love watching the Rifleman even today. Johnny Crawford was a wonderful actor he will be missed. I also love Laramie with Robert Crawford it is great as well. Bobby is a wonderful brother to to this interview with Johnny like he did knowing Johnny couldn't have done it alone. Brotherly Love at it's Best.
Even though Johnny's motor skills were surely lacking in this interview you could see he was alert as can be. God bless him and his loving brother Bobby.
You're a class act Rob ! ! All of the people you interview have amazing and interesting stories to tell . We'll keep helping Johnny and who ever else needs it . They are a piece of Anerican history never to be destroyed . . Thanks again Rob ! !
You know what's truly heartbreaking ? Not really knowing a whole lot about a person, then, only 'months' after their very tragic loss, -becoming a truly ardent fan, - only learning just months, or even weeks after, - that the person you loved had 'just' passed away, only weeks before. I know that you'll rest in truly a gifted peace Johnny. With so very many true fans and admirers of you and your work, along with so many people who really love you, - you could never do anything but. We'll all see ya later 🤠 👍.
Thanks to Roku and Netflix i have been re watching the Rifleman and love it as much, if not more than i did as a boy. I had found an even deeper respect for what 10 year old kids were capable of doing back in the day then most adults can fumble thru today. Johnny Crawford aka Mark McCain, was and is one of my favourite characters in any genre. I was in tears of learning of his passing and he will be missed. R.I.P. Mr Crawford
Enjoyed the interview with Bobby and Johnny. Brought back a lot of memories. The flip side is life can be cruel. Treasure, and be thankful for every healthy day, for you and your loved ones..
Rob, I went to the Williamsburg Nostalgia Festival November 2019 and I met Robert Crawford and I told him my husband had passed away from Alzheimer's in October. We talked about Johnny and my husband Charles and we both were very sad. I appreciated Robert's kindness to me . He is such a great person!
Yeah I’m 60 and still watch my old favorites from back in the day Rifleman, Laramie and Big Valley and Wagon Train and Gunsmoke and many more. Oh and Bonanza
Brilliant television shows in those days. It's so good that technology can allow and introduce new generations to these great actors and programs. I really enjoyed this interview. Thankyou
Rob, as with all the replies on this video, I want to thank you dearly for bringing this for us to view. I wish nothing but the best for the Crawford family. Thank you for such a professional and heartfelt interview of two wonderful men. Memories never fade , but sadly we do...Take care Rob, Bobby and Johnny
I watched both shows as a kid, but I never realized Johnny and Robert were brothers. You learn something new every day. It is heartbreaking to see Johnny's suffering. I too feel like I'm slowly loosing an old friend. 2020 is not a year I care to remember in hindsight.
Johnny was a television Idol to me when I was between 8-12. Sad to hear about Alzheimer's robbing him of his memories and language later in life. Same happened to my dad. I wouldn't wish that insidious disease on my worst enemy. Best wishes to Robert, Charlotte, and Nance if she's still with us.
Wow, did not know Johnny Crawford had other actors and family in the industry. Must make sure to watch again 'Two Witnesses' which his brother Robert co-stars in. I guess 'round this time the Azheimers were setting in on Mr Johnny Crawford. What an Legendary actor both he and his brother Robert. So glad this interview was made when it was made. Iconic for sure. Appreciate it guys.😍😘🎈
This was a great and moving interview with these two brothers. It's awesome that they and their father were all nominees for Emmys in the same year. So sad what this awful disease has done to Johnny and this was done while he was still able to communicate but I'm told that that is no longer the case. I'm glad you gave us the information on his "go fund me." I don't think I have heard interviews with Robert before this so I'm glad I got to see this. Remarkable family.
@@AWordonWesterns I have had the unpleasant experience to have been involved with a number of people with this dreadful and deadly disease and my heart goes out to Johnny and his family. Thank you, Larry. It was terrific to have them together. I'm sure you noticed the photo during the closing credits with Johnny, Bobby, Michael McGreevey, Bill Mumy, Steve Stevens, Tommy Nolan, Jon Gries and Darby Hinton. My theme for the taping of that day's A WORD ON WESTERNS was "Young Riders of the Range" and we had an awesome gathering of talent!
Johnny was so good in The Rifleman! There is a cabin on a property that Chuck Conners owned which is a replica of the ranch house on the Rifleman, it meant that much to him!!
Yeah, what a sad loss reading about Johnny’s passing. I really enjoy watching reruns of The Rifleman on TH-cam. So sad that he’s left us already. He rode off into the sunset for the final time.🌅
Bobby was phenomenal in Child of Our Time on Playhouse 90. I only wish it were available to view today. I saw it at the Paley Center Museum of Television in NYC.
I started watching The Rifleman because of my grandpa who passed away June 2020. Johnny and Chuck looked like they were the biggest sweethearts. I love that Johnny was smiling throughout the interview. I broke down crying when I heard of his passing since he was a connection to my grandpa. Rest in Heavenly Peace Johnny. May your smiles and joyfulness continue to shine into eternity.
I feel really bad for his brother Bobby Crawford because he lost his brother Johnny Crawford and he will be remembered for his talent as a former child star and I still think it's just shame that we lost him this year at the age of seventy five years old and his family is will be on my prayer list tonight or tomorrow night and RIP J.C. 1946-2021 good bye Johnny Crawford!!

I know that you'll rest in truly a gifted peace Johnny. With so very many true fans and admirers of you and your work, along with so many people who really love you, - you could never do anything but.
We'll all see ya later
🤠 👍.
R.I.P. Mr Crawford
Two talented and photogenic boys we owe a debt to for the entertainment they gave us.
Enjoyed the interview with Bobby and Johnny. Brought back a lot of memories. The flip side is life can be cruel. Treasure, and be thankful for every healthy day, for you and your loved ones..
I haven't had an actors death hit me so hard for a long time😪
RIP Johnny Crawford. You have made a difference in this world❣
Thank you so much for sharing this. Johnny Crawford is just precious. Thank you for caring so much. God bless you richly!
You are so welcome, LCC.
He certainly is, Linda. I’ll make sure he sees your comment. Thanks
64 years old and still watching these shows.I love them.
Thankyou
I really enjoyed watching this. It was so interesting...❤
RIP Johnny Crawford. We lost him this week.
Johnny was like a family member love to watch Village of the Giants go easy bro!!
I cried when Johnny died...
RIP 🌹 Mark McCain
... glad to see Robert Crawford give an interview, also happy to see how close he is to his brother. Thanks for this interview
Our pleasure, Richard. Thanks.
Beautiful Johnny - thanks so much for releasing this - priceless to us fans!
Glad you enjoyed it, BG.
The rifleman and Laramie🇺🇸🇸🇻👍❤️ Thanks Rob great interview!
Thanks, Jack, for your kind thoughts and understanding.
I watched both shows as a kid, but I never realized Johnny and Robert were brothers. You learn something new every day. It is heartbreaking to see Johnny's suffering. I too feel like I'm slowly loosing an old friend. 2020 is not a year I care to remember in hindsight.
This year is definitely going in the history books as the worst year!! I hope it gets better ASAP!!!
So good to see them both together! There is real brotherly love!
This warms my heart. Thank you so much for posting.
You are so welcome, Sue. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great interview. So good to see Johnny! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it, Rick.
R.l.P Johnny Crawford,🙏🏾 Amazing actor,singer ⭐
Wow, did not know Johnny Crawford had other actors and family in the industry. Must make sure to watch again 'Two Witnesses' which his brother Robert co-stars in. I guess 'round this time the Azheimers were setting in on Mr Johnny Crawford. What an Legendary actor both he and his brother Robert. So glad this interview was made when it was made. Iconic for sure. Appreciate it guys.😍😘🎈
I too, never knew he had a brother in the industry! This was so informative & great to watch! Love goes out to these two incredible brothers!❤️
Thanks, Wayne. Bobby had quite the career, too.
@@AWordonWesterns I have had the unpleasant experience to have been involved with a number of people with this dreadful and deadly disease and my heart goes out to Johnny and his family. I know that in the not so far away future we will hear of his obituary and what is the saddest part is the utter helplessness of those close to him.
REST IN PEACE JOHNNY CRAWFORD FLY HIGH WITH THE ANGELS. April 29 2021
It was REALLY good to see the Crawford boys. Thank you
LOVE JOHNNY CRAWFORD WONDERFUL ACTOR I LOVED RIFLEMAN STILL WATCHING RERUNS OF IT TODAY
Breaks my heart to see Johnny Crawford so ill. My mother-in-law has dementia and it robs your body and soul. God bless Johnny and Bobbie.
Thanks, Denice.
One of my favorites, watching it at the moment. R.I.P johnny Crawford
Wonderful interview with the Crawford Brothers. Johnny has so many friends that are helping out in this twilight time of his life.
Great show! We are fortunate to have lived in this era!
That right best of time the kids now day don’t know what was to live in that time great time miss them.
Johnny was so good in The Rifleman! There is a cabin on a property that Chuck Conners owned which is a replica of the ranch house on the Rifleman, it meant that much to him!!
Thanks, Don
YES HE WAS A GOOD ACTOR I LOVED WATCHING HIM ON THE RIFLE MAN
We all have a day to meet our maker.
Rest in eternal peace Johnny Crawford.
From a real Rifleman fan. 🙏🏼
Great show, great guests, rifleman was one of my favorites, wish i could help, prayers for Johnny
I still watch The Rifleman and Laramie every day🥰❤️🥰
Yeah, what a sad loss reading about Johnny’s passing.
Loved both shows and both boys. Always admired how competent they were as actors. They never seemed amateurs.
🤠🤠 Sending love and Prays for Johnny Crawford 🤩🤩
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Johnny. I still look at the Rifle Man. He was a brilliant actor and many girls dream.
Still watch them both in the Rifleman and
Laramie, a couple times a week. Never get tired of the old Westerns
Robert did a great job relating his anecdotes. Both boys seem very unaffected by their respective television successes
Rob, great interview! It was great to see Bobby and Johnny together! 💫
Precious Memories... Brought me Back to the days of my Childhood. Thank you.. Were Amazing Boys... Now Amazing Men.💖👍👍👍.
Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease and for friends and family too..Johnny will live forever through the Rifleman
Love watching the reruns of Laramie and the best were the ones with Robert Crawford and Hoagy Carmichael. Prayers and well wishes sent.
Thanks, John. I like those early B&W episodes, too.
