Whooooa what a beautiful car, 1 of my many favorites. The 1970s Firebirds are my 1st choice if i could pick one. Formula Firebird or Trans-Am model. Ram Air & a 3 piece deck lid to quarter panel spoiler....delux interior...4 spd stk...Good luck with it. Keep it as is. Me a ( 80s fox body mustang gt) owner.
I JUST bought a ‘77 Black and Gold T/A. Tan interior and a hardtop. Built 403 with Holley Fuel Injection. It is a BEAUTIFUL car! I’ve owned several Firebirds in my day,and this one is BY FAR the best one yet. I LOVE the ‘76 birds too…that would have been my SECOND choice!
The '76 was a fav of mine but my buddy had the red in '74 with your specs above and my sister had a '78 with the 400 (6.6) white/blue and automatic. Getting used to the decals in '78 took a while and in '79 and after lost all interest.
Very nice car ,dont see much of that color of interior in a 76. Engine very clean. The engine is wrong color for 76. The 75,76 and a few early 77 were a darker blue than your engine is.Pontiac changed engine colors every few years.I have had my 76 Trans Am 455 since 1979.
I remember when I was in High School a guy who had one of these. He did some work to it, but I am unsure what all was done. I know that it had different rear gears, headers, intake, carb, and a higher performance yet streetable camshaft. He later on put a 5 speed into it. I don't if it was a swap or he just put a new one into it. He did keep all of the parts removed in a garage where they wouldn't be damaged. He had a lot of cars, most of them were forever projects that would never run again. EDIT: It was a 400 CID. He also had a supercharger but he never put it on, I think it needed bits and pieces to probably make it work.
Back in the late 80s, I was a teenager living in L.A. in college in search of a '78 or '79 TA. Before computers, we only had print-based ads to find cars, and I perused the L.A. Times, Daily News, and once a week, on Thursday, the Recycler (all kinds of things for sale, but mostly cars, cars and more cars) went up for sale. I forgot which place the ad was from (probably L.A. Times) there was a '76 TA for sale. I showed up to a place in the east San Fernando Valley that was an office building that was rented out for independent entertainment production companies. I found the office the guy gave me and he took me out to the car for a test drive. California car (I assume) with a 400/auto (that was all we got in Cal.). Nice condition, but $4500. Most really nice cars at the time, the '78s and '79s, were in the $2500 to $3000 range, with some of the more beaten up cars in the $1000s range, and the nicer ones were up to $5k (a 10th anniversary edition with a real 400/4-speed) He wouldn't budge on the price because he felt it was worth more having been used in their production. I passed on it and ended up with a beat up 1978 that I paid $1100 for. Edit: the movie was 'Twice Dead' with Todd Bridges (the actor who also played Willis Drummond in the TV show 'Diff'rent Strokes'. I believe his character drove the TA in the film which was a straight to VHS horror film. You can see the car very briefly in this trailer for the film but the movie is available here on TH-cam (it might be the only movie to feature a 1978 TA...) th-cam.com/video/Y0Fq06FpPtw/w-d-xo.html
Love it...had a 79 looked just like that inside and out....color scheme.....sold it last month... My only suggestion; change them rims to the original style , honeycomb or snowflake....go ahead and spend a little more and take it to the top...
I had a 81 Firebird, with most of the trans-am features, including dash and plate, but I am curious what that switch is beside the defogger toggle, on this year. On mine it was a built in toggle switch factory radio booster. I never seen another one in the Trans-Ams or Firebirds. It was always a double plate, with one toggle switch only (defogger)
Ahh your on long island. The radio station. I showed my son shifting is not hard. I great shot maybe from the back showing the road as well if possible. I think I seen two. Many young fellow many not realize how much more fun it is with these cars. I guess that could be a food thing. Ha ha
Dear God you were riding the fuck out of that clutch. Anyways sweet ride. Looks good in all black. I have a 76 TA too and its almost back on the road. What exhaust are you running? It sounds too restrictive to me, can't hear the cam at all.
Yeah, there's a guy up the street from me that wants to sell me some sort of Firebird that's pretty solid, has a 350 in it for 75 hundred. It's this body style except it's the year with that hideous front end, bummer!
Nice! Bonus points for having Pat Benatar jamming on the radio.
Jamming?
Just another word for playing. @@JeffreyWilliams-dr7qe
@@waynewalter1823 Is that what she did?
Well, technically Pat was the singer of her band. What's the problem? @@JeffreyWilliams-dr7qe
She’s a beauty. You can hear that carb sucking air. Awesome!
these kids would look at them window cranks and say mommy daddy what are these for!

Love it....that was THE car back then to own !
77-78 are my favorite due to the look. Best design years ever.

Sick Bird!! Long live Pontiac!
I love the Gen 2 Firebird interiors.
Always wanted one 😉
Hola amigo el modelo de tu auto de 76 se parece al auto fantástico de 83 tiene un parecido 👍👍
My '76 TA began life as Carousel Red with 455 and 4 SPD. There was an 8-Track tape player where your gauges are.
I had the same but blk/blk.
The '76 was a fav of mine but my buddy had the red in '74 with your specs above and my sister had a '78 with the 400 (6.6) white/blue and automatic. Getting used to the decals in '78 took a while and in '79 and after lost all interest.

The motor was from a 74' Trans Am
@@Kyle13beautiful car. Mmmm. The 74 400 had more power. Nice.

Very nice! I believe 76 was the last year of the 455. Everything after the SD 455 in 74 was always longing imho.
SD was the good one.
Pontiac also did a 455 hO before the super duty

Man I had a 77 just like that. Can't believe I sold it in the mid 80s.

Beautiful tones!
I liked the '76 with round headlights better than the years after.
I’m more of a honey comb wheel myself but nice ride. Obviously from the Baltimore area listing to Jack Fm 👍🏼
We have Jack FM here in Las Vegas, it's also in LA where the station is even better with great music.. Try using the App to get the stations.
Had a 76 super duty so fun in the 90s
Wrong, Super Duty 455's were only made in 1973 and 1974.
What rims are those??? I have been looking for them for ages 😍
Love the wheels you chose.

Door locks before GM went to the corporate chrome switch.
Black is beautiful especially when its on a trans am

I had those Vector wheels on my 75
Great Car !! 2/7/2024
thats what a real car sounds like! not this junk thats out today!
General motors made a big mistake when they did away with Pontiac. I love the firebird's and the Grand Prix's too.
A TransAm 4 Speed! Glenn
What exhaust ya running
Definitely has wiring issues reverse lights did not come on😊
Why you always take it out of gear?
Really with the radio?
What exhaust are you running?
Very rare wheels
never miss to check if its in neutral

That's awesome! Get excited because I love driving her. She's been getting more love then my Mustang GT. Sad day when she goes. She sounds great !

Can't beat a 4 speed shifter on a trans am much better than auto box
Needs Honeycombs , those wheels take away from the car .. imho
Agreed, beautiful car otherwise.
Nice Trans am need honey comb rim and Jerry Reed eastbound down songs
I HATE THE TAIL LIGHTS !!!
Those wheels suck and are very tacky. Why do you not put the cool looking stock rims on that look way cooler? Terrible, just terrible.
Backup lights don't work cops love that shit
