    Recently found your channel and I'm enjoying all the awesome content! I'm wondering if you would include advice for small space container food gardening? Your connection to nature and food is most inspiring. Many blessings for all you do! Can't wait for the next video. Thanks so much!

      Appreciate the comment! I haven’t done much container gardening honestly as I’ve been mostly focused on building up my soil in the ground. I know how to do it but I’m sure someone who focuses more on that could give much better advice lol. I will eventually be doing a video on container gardening though as I have been thinking of the idea of producing the most food as possible in limited space!

    Good experiment. I like experiments. Can't wait for results.

      Especially do it from whatever you end up growing there. They will grow better because they will be more adapted to your environment!

    Glad to see your still growing. Do you mind making a video please on how to fill a raised garden bed. Im looking for a cheaper way of doing it. I started mine off with alot of leaves and then I put soil on top. Any recommendations?

      Yea this will def be apart of me for life! Raised beds and growing in containers are def not my specialities though I do it here and there. I do know that if going for cheap it is doing like you said and adding leaves and any other organic matter though it might not be beneficial for immediate use for most plants as it breaks down. I have more learning to do on that end though lol

      I plant in my container right after I start it. I don't wait for it to break down. I put twigs in the bottom, then leaves, handful of dirt, kitchen scraps, paper, toilet paper rolls, , top it with more leaves and the dirt I need for the plants to grow right then until it all breaks down. You don't have to fill a container up. You just need enough matter or soil in it for whatever type of plants you grow in it.
      I put a container inside my planter and filled the container with paper, kitchen scraps, toilet paper rolls, more leaves, eggs... whatever. Usually a handful of dirt from my yard, too. I put holes all around this container and bury it a bit inside the planter. Water this compost container. Eventually it will break down and make soil. Worms love it and that means more free fertilizer for you.
      I hope I gave clear instructions. I tend to ramble 😂

    Have you had good luck growing store bought potatoes? Have been told they don't do well because they were sprayed with a chemical that prohibits them from growing sprouts that will produce potatoes. They will grow sprouts but the sprouts won't produce potatoes. Thanks.

      I’ve definitely been able to grow store bought sweet potatoes that produced more. I have also tried regular potatoes once but I also live in a hot environment. They produced but 5 small ones. So I am just trying to grow small varieties now to see what happens.

      @@irenedoyle3421 Thanks for the info. I will plant store potatoes this year as an experiment.

      I've been growing regular store bought potatoes and sweet potatoes with lots of success. My regular potatoes have been on the small side, but I was recently told this was because I was planting the whole potato rather than cutting off the eyes and spacing them apart, so going to try that and see what happens. It's definitely doable. I am in the U.S in zone 6b.

    The problem I have with this concept is that most store bought veg is utterly tasteless. Is this down to varieties or rushed production methods?
    Edit: watched parts 2&3, will subscribe and anticipate your harvests.

    • @eatthecanvas
      @eatthecanvas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is true and it could be due to a variety selected for better production and disease resistance verses selected for taste. With some things it could have been harvested before full maturity but it just "looks" mature.
      I kind of slacked on my last video for this as things got busy on my end lol which I mentioned in another video, but it was the habeneros that did the best and that are still producing even now. Got a few tomatoes too and saved some seeds for planting again.
      I got my avocado tree and starfruit tree for store bought items and those have been growing well!

      Nice, yea try it out! Is it a Cherry type tomato or a bigger one?

    • @micheleinmiami1807
      @micheleinmiami1807 ปีที่แล้ว

      The medium size???? Not the Cherry but not the large round ones 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @eatthecanvas
      @eatthecanvas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright, if it’s more medium and possibly oval shaped it could be a Roma tomato
