Those bananas look amazing. I rarely see banana plants with such healthy fruit around here-- I think it's because most don't get enough water + Florida soil is so sandy. I gotta stop procrastinating and get some bananas and plantains in the ground.
Yes bananas are known to benefit highly from organic matter so if typical Florida soils are worked on, it could struggle a bit. I always throw old plant material at the base of my banana plants as many do and pretty much treat it as a compost which also helps with water retention as I don’t water mines at all. Yesss get ‘em in the ground!
I swear I smelled that first banana you peeled 😂. Bananas also are great if you add them to things like green tomatoes. Something in the fruit excretes a substance that help with ripening other fruits. I use the peels at my rose bushes to add potasium around the roots. Man, now I want to plant them Bananas. Any specific cultivars you recommend? Those looked like big bananas.
Lol. Yea I forgot what that gas is called that ripening fruits put off. I was specifically searching for a variety that was not tall and that was easy to reach and came across this one which is called Grand Nain. It’s very similar, if not the same variety that is mostly sold in the store.
Where do you live? I live in North Texas and I don't think a banana tree would make it through the winter. I have a greenhouse, but even in there it gets too cold for bananas, I should think. That said, I have two apple trees and one peach tree, each of which yield abundant fruit.
I live in South Florida and am definitely working with my zone as we all should. I’m not even going to try peaches and apples here as they just won’t get enough cold hours lol. If you had a temperature controlled situation I could see that possibly working but that’s if people want to put in that extra effort or just grow what is meant for their area.
It seems to take between 9-12months, so the more banana plants someone has at varying stages, the more bananas they have continuously throughout the year!
Looks delicious 😋 and yummy 😋

Appreciate you ✊🏼
How exciting!
Definitely is!
Nice! I cannot wait for mine to start producing.
I love having them! When did you plant yours?
I wish I was closer
Wow 🤗🍌🍌🍌🍌👍
Wow is what I think every time I see them growing!
have you tried dehydrating green bananas? similar to potatoes?
I have not as of yet but I do boil them while green and use them like potatoes.

Thanks
This is amazing how long did it take to produce fruits

what variety is this? what zone are you in?
This is the Grand Nain banana, which is pretty much the variety sold in most stores. Also, I am in zone 10 so it grows well here.
