I don’t think there is any one specific reason why I lost my faith. It happened gradually, over a few years. Seeing the Passion of the Christ is just the moment I realized that maybe I wasn’t comfortable calling myself a Christian.

I still don't get why exactly he's doubting his faith. The gore in the movie was too much and then he jumped to the conclusion, that there is no afterlife or someone judging the world, but didn't explain why. That would be interesting. What led you to this conviction? You see, because as long as I believe in God, but can't prove God's existence and you can't disprove God, then my faith that there is a God is just as much as a religion as your faith that there isn't a god. How are you more in reality?

It may be the cornerstone story of the Christian faith. But even as a Christian I 100% believe no one over 18 should watch this film. Just read the word and imagine until you’re older. As an adult watching the film you’ll have a better appreciation. But as a kid (like a lot of kids who saw the film) you’re just mortified. And that all just comes from maturity level.

I myself have had my spiritual struggles going back and forth between religion and spirituality. But the conclusion i came to is there is indeed no after then what is the point OF life in this first place? I believe there are lessons to be learned for all of us and the end result in the reward of salvation or punishment of damnation. Also, science ( man made ) can't not explain the divine miracles that have occurred throughout human history that we may or may not have been there to witness? And lastly if you have no hope for your future or eternal soul for that matter then why even have the will to live at all? Im not suggesting self destruction but the idea of going through day to day life with no belief or faith in anything or anyone is mind boggling to me.

Well if you simply watch Mel Gibson talk about the film he says that being antisemitic is in direct contradiction to his faith. There is nothing hateful about this film, only the reality that took place in the lead up to the crucifixion of Christ. If anyone thinks this is antisemitic, then this would imply that ANY film where one group of people is against another, we would have to cancel those films as well for being anti-whatever group is in the film. It's a ridiculous notion and this WOKE stuff needs to end. The same people calling this film antisemitic are the same people who hate Israel or have a problem with Israel. I think there are more important things to worry about, like idk... feeding your family, helping others, etc. If you are worried about this film, then you have very little REAL problems in your life.

The movie honestly didn't have a big impact on me and I just remembered it as some gratuitous gore movie for the longest time, even when i was a Christian this movie felt weird, i never realized the antisemitism in it tho! Anyone can HEAR about jesus's suffering and think "oh ok he got beat and blead to death" but when you SEE it happen your eyes and heart can become more open and thankful of his sacrifice. Some dont understand why he didnt fight back, and its clear why, he loves us all. He loved those who cursed him and beat him unmercifully and whats more he always knew that in the end he would suffer more pain than ANY human on earth could tolerate and he did it anyways because his love for us is infinite and never goes away. If you identify as Agnostic, then you are probably an atheist. If you are not convinced that a god exists, then you are an atheist. If you are “not sure” then you are not convinced. “Agnostic” means you don’t know. An agnostic theist is someone who believes in God but doesn’t know that god exists, they just believe it. I myself have been raised Catholic, but unlike Jim Caviezel, my parents are nowhere near as devout (we rarely go to church) and would be supportive of me no matter what, even if I proclaimed myself to be an atheist. I was raised as a Jesuit-where questioning the Bible was accepted, even encouraged. Not all Christians are right wingers who hate everyone that isn’t like them. Most of the Catholic people that I grew up knowing weren’t devout and were very nice people who would give you the shirts off of their back.
I remember when Passion of the Christ came out. I was 5 years old at the time. I remember, the summer of 2004, me my parents and 2 year old sister went over to Cape Cod to spend the summer over there. I remember that it rained a lot, and my parents, with two small children to entertain, would try to find ways to entertain us indoors.
So anyway, my parents took me and my sister to the local movie theater to see Shrek 2. Anyway, when we got to the lobby, I remember seeing a poster for Passion of the Christ. Intrigued since I saw a lot of movie ads for POTC on the TV, I asked my parents what it was about (they talked about how it was the Easter story) and asked if I could go see it. Wisely, my parents said no, knowing far too well that I was far too young to see it and would get nightmares for days afterwards. My parents were both born the same year that Caviezel was, so go figure.
Gibson himself however has expressed regret for his past anti semitic comments and history, and he seems to be much more calmer and happier person than he was then.
That said, I have always been fascinated by this movie and have refused to judge it as a Christian, and I would be intrigued to see this movie’s sequel, which I heard would be even more ambitious than the first one, and it seems like the anti semitism is thankfully abated away.

Since when does a gore-fest, gratuitously racist, gratuitously violent, gratuitously anti-Semitic, fake religious, de-facto snuff film warrant a big-budget big-studio release? And by gratuitous, I mean having NO artistic, educational, or otherwise redeeming reason to exist. I used to be an atheist, now born again beliver in Jesus Christ. From some of what you said, there is good reason to believe that you were a false convert. The Bible gives some indications of whether this is the case. Please have a read.
    The New Man - 2 Corinthians 5:17
(17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.)
The Discipline of God - Hebrews 12:3-11
(3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
    Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.)
If you never had a life changing experience, or were not chastened by God when you walked away, then you should question whether you were a "Christian" or just a closet atheist.
But, God who is rich in mercy and desires all to come to repentance has left us a promise that "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (Jesus Christ) shall be saved". If you call out to Him in truth He will reveal Himself. I pray you take Him up on His offer.

A couple of corrections, his name would have been Yeshua Bar Yosef or Jesus Son Of Joseph. Bin is the Arabic version and would not have been used in Jesus time. Also the Jews are a Semitic people and they have fair skin unlike their Arab neighbors. Recent DNA evidence shows that fair skinned blue eyed people migrated to modern day Israel 6,500 years ago from Norther Turkey and Iran. So those genes would have been well established in Jesus time. Also I challenge you to look up videos on the Samaritans, a people genetically related to the Jews and who have lived uninterrupted in Israel for 4,000 years. Most of them look like they could be Italians or Greeks, much more European looking than Arab looking.
The debate on what Jesus looked like has gained popularity in the identity politics SJW crowd but their arguments are based in ignorance. The population of the regions were a lot more diverse before the Arab/Islamic expansion more than a thousand years after Jesus death changed the populations of these areas into what we see today. It is statistically much more likely Jesus looked like Jim Caviezel than the generic ethnic man SJW's want to say Jesus looked like.

No one is a Christian by default. That doesn't happen. In short, that is a personal choice to yield to the Holy Ghost's drawing to put your faith and trust in Christ after the gospel has taken root in your heart. If your heart is hardened, you don't get it. The movie didn't make you an atheist. Forget the movie, it is irrelevant. By what you were saying, I could tell that you never knew Christ to begin with. You were just religious. Only now you've affirmed a religion where you "grew more confident in your belief that there is no after life." By the way, while you're still alive, you believe that by faith. Whatever religious upbringing you may have had, it doesn't nessacarily mean anything. Accepting Christ as your saviour is a personal choice. If you see Christianity as just religion and family tradition, you don't get it.
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us." -1 John 2:19

Those who don't believe In God and or Jesus is because they want to be the God of their life they want to do what they want to do all the vile things they want to without consequences however their are consequences no mater if you believe in Jesus or not. The fact is Jesus went through all of this it's called a wake up call he went through what he went through to save us all. I sincerely hope you repent and ask God for his forgiveness I hope you become born again and if you don't then that is between you and God when your day comes and you stand face to face with God.

I don’t think your stance in no faith in God is what God or anyone is to be blamed.
Faithless people choose to NOT to believe & refuse accepting heaven.
But if you ever open & read a length of the Bible where answers be discovered, instead of being drawn (ie. to Netflix in culture for self gratification & reject of Truth &) to become a MOVIE CRITIQUE you’re given your will for freedom to choose salvation (If one acknowledges the NEED of it) by whom choose to DIE to take our place.
We’re who we are, because we choose to, no matter how much we’re beaten-we can choose to be as we believe.
