CWGGMSS 2022 - Get Back That Christmas Feeling
Ah, CWGGMSS! The time of year where I watch as many direct-to-streaming movie releases as I can stomach and grade them with a system of my own design, in an effort to determine whether or not they are actually good Christmas movies. We're mostly working with Netflix movies here, but we will also hit a couple HBO Max and Apple+ films as well.
CWGGMSS videos take the most effort for me to make and are some of my least watched, but for whatever masochistic reason, they are still my favorites, so please enjoy this labor of love.

Pig VS Dog: A Contrived Yet Surprisingly Compelling Comparison
มุมมอง 1802 ปีที่แล้ว
Pig and Dog are about as different as films come. Pig is a semi-absurd drama about a chef working through the trauma of his deceased wife and his withdrawal from society, and Dog is a semi-conservative dramedy about a soldier, wounded inside and out, looking for purpose outside of the military. Another difference is I loved Pig, and I thought Dog was amusing at best. But upon re-watching both o...
Redeeming Love: The Greatest Christian Film of All Time
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
As something of a connoisseur of Christian film, I've watched my fair share of God's Not Deads, Heaven is For Reals, and The Passion of the Christs. Hackneyed, dull, offensive, and preachy, these films offer little more than a chuckle and a groan to a heathen such as myself. Redeeming Love is different. Maybe it's because I watched the movie in an empty theater with zero expectations, but Redee...

Can a Bad Man Get a Happy Ending? Travis Henderson in Paris, Texas

Have You Ever Heard of Home Fries?
มุมมอง 2.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Home Fries is one of those movies that for some reason has become forgotten over the last couple decades, despite having a big star, Drew Barrymore, a famous writer, Vince Gilligan, and a large release, appearing on almost 2000 screens. But it flopped pretty hard in 1998. Becoming one of those mid-budget financial failures that scared studios into only making tent-pole films. And it's a shame, ...
A Short History of Cinderellas of Color and How Brandy Did It Better

The release of 2021's Cinderella starring Camila Cabello got me thinking about my favorite Cinderella movie, 1997's Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella starring Brandy. Funny, How there can be so much proof but for an example this small 1% of proof I’ll bring is the fact many household names ( who people love to run to for proof ) actually have writings that mention Jesus’s name. His life, his earthly brother and his works and wonders, not to mention kings of old, Dead Sea scrolls and other religions that confirm Jesus walked the earth created miracles and rose from the dead. You have to love Atheists just shows how ridiculously stupid this boy is🤣they never practice what they preach for example this moron stops the movie to judge the actors …. The actors … that should be enough to know how smart this man is. Btw respectfully, your GMA was right, it’s okay. That’s what free will is. You want to turn away that’s on YOU not God or anyone it’s on YOU. Guess what that’s called youngster, ( Free Will ) he doesn’t MAKE us believe in him. He gives us the choice and lets us know he’s real and leaves it up to us. Don’t cry later in your death bed begging my Father because he won’t listen, by that time it will be too late. The Lord says not everyone who is called will be saved. And not everyone will be called. It’s up to you 😊 good luck

Idk I feel like the video doesn’t quite reflect the title the only thing close to the title is tha5 you read a book and watched TH-cam videos and I mean that’s not close to explaining why you became an atheist. I was expecting like theological issues like why does God the son have to die on the cross. But instead I got a nice video but not a really intriguing or thoughtful criticism of Christianity…

Yes, in the UK, Natalie is regarded as fat. Some of the comments made were not intended as jokes so much as just being plain mean, such as Annie, the prime minister's personal advisor. My read on it, is that Annie was jealous of the connection between the prime minister and Natalie, so chose to make cutting comments where she could.

Haven't seen either of these other two Cinderella's myself, but I love the Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella. I actually point to the 1997 version all the time with how to cast the right way as apposed to the more recent trend of intentionally casting based on race to make a point. With Cinderella you effectively are getting a diverse cast with a minority in a many lead roles while presenting something beautiful that is uplifting. Whereas the more modern way gets you what feels like a pointed on screen lecture that will inevitably upset someone one way or another and often fails to fit the role properly. I will always be down for theater style casting that breaks down boundaries over token casting that if anything builds them up. When they cast the 1997 Cinderella they knew what they were doing and they did it the right way. Brandi will always be one of my favourite live action Cinderella's. The other two are Leslie Ann Warren(sp?) and Drew Barrymore. I can't decide if Brandi or Drew got the best dress though. [Edit] I don't think I've ever been a first comment before 😊

I love this movie so much. It's so insane and yet somehow heartwarming all at once. I would argue it is a romantic comedy and does check off the boxes for that it is just a weird dark romantic comedy and absolutely should have been advertised as such. By the way I would have been more interested in an honest trailer of this movie.

The same conservative Christians who clutch their pearls and protect their children from R-rated movies were more than enthusiastic to bring children or encourage them to attend a movie that should have been rated NC-17 for its excessive, graphic and prolonged violence akin to extreme sadomasochistic gay pornography. This movie was nothing sanctified or holy. It was an exploitative abomination designed to pluck money from unwitting Christians everywhere. I am an Evangelical Christian and absolutely loathed this obscene spectacle.

Man I'm so sorry your video attracted so many people of the wrong crowd, this comment section is just a sea of hate lol, I remember watching this movie with my mom at 13 and crying, she saw that as "the power of god having an effect on me" but I was very desensitized to bloody stuff already at the time, I cried because of a scene of Mary watching Jesus be tortured and the thought of a mother watching her son be tortured to death was too sad for me. The movie honestly didn't have a big impact on me and I just remembered it as some gratuitous gore movie for the longest time, even when i was a Christian this movie felt weird, i never realized the antisemitism in it tho! I'm slightly shocked to rediscover that about the movie now, loved seeing this perspective on the movie, good video!
