i had the same problem on my samsung 40".... found the sticker on the t-con and ordered a new one from ebay.... 20 bucks free shipping, took 2 minutes to take out the old and put in the new one. much easier than taking chips off and on.
I'm assuming that was a heat gun (?) used to remove the chip? Is there a specific temperature for this? Installation of the new chip was completely left out of the video. How's that accomplished? A wire needs to be soldered to the chip? Any details on that?
Take a drink every time he says , k install. You won’t survive the hour. Also, no help on actually installing the part since he skips right over the most important part of soldering of the surface mount component.
I have the same problem but my LG doesn't have a dedicated T.Con board. From a datasheet of the mainboard I found two gamma related IC's so I will maybe replace one or both chips. The model is 42lm660s and it's a 3D TV. IC's are TPS65198 and TPS65178RSLR, maybe this information helps someone who has a TV without a dedicated T-Con board
This is my problem as well. RCA set backlighting OK but the picture is washed out with very little color and somewhat scrambled/blurry. Sound is good. So Tconn board is bad.

Two things will reduce that: apply flux then a low temp allow over the original solder. With a Dremel, grind down the center of the original chip exposing the internal die. Both these will allow the chip to release from the circuit faster and at a lower temperature. In this case, they removed the chip too quickly and pulled a circuit trace. The low temp allow added would have allowed the solder to flow quicker and not grab the circuit trace.
@@DerbyRepairs Agree, but the average schmo doesn't have a proper rework station. Exposing the die will allow top heat to release the belly pan without destroying traces.

muhammad - i can give you the hilights since i just looked it up myself... t-con is timing control - it controls everything to do with the picture pretty much... from what i've seen just about any video issue is something to do with the tcon... but take the back off, find the tcon, and look for the sticker on it - not the part # on the board, the actual sticker....on my samsung it was about 14 characters long, but you only need to match the first 6 or so... look on ebay and find the entire board and just replace it.... cost me 20 bucks cdn, free shipping, and took only a minute to change.

@@NL-tq1yr nope - none at all - tinkering around with stuff, but nothing like this... desoldering is a pain , i'm not good at it, and the board is so cheap it's not worth taking the risk of messing the original one trying to take the bad bits off... literally took longer to get the back off the tv , than to put the new board in.
