First Smile is a solo fingerstyle guitar song that evokes the emotions I felt when I learned that my wife was pregnant with our first child. Written and recorded at the foot of Diamond Head on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, my upcoming album, Riding the Wave, features solo guitar, ukulele, and piano. By way of creative songwriting, refreshing acoustic instrumentation, and the flow of a live performance, the album inspires listeners to hold on for a journey through every color of the sonic spectrum.

I wrote and recorded the track on my amazing Lowden O-50. The guitar responds incredibly well to a light touch and has made my writing and playing evolve accordingly.
