Great to hear Mr. Lowden's take on the tonewoods and his use of them. I am considering a rosewood and cedar model made in the 80's and seeing if I can psyche myself up to make the move. Either way, I like George Lowden's approach to the acoustic guitar. Thanks for the videos.

@@SamJones1956 Yeah - I'm wondering what types of wood they had available and used in the late 70's/early 80's... Today's guitars have a difficult time with wood availability. Today many woods are illegal to harvest...This causes many models to be discontinued - or they don't use the same woods as the original models.

I found this company through Owen Campbell, and i am happy i did because i have never heard guitars with such character and warmth, It also helps when the person talking about the guitars is not trying to shove their brand down your throat while reaching for your wallet. Also a rarity someone who cares about where the wood comes from! I'm not a professional guitarist by any means nor do i have a fraction of the funds to afford one, but if i did i would defiantly own one!

I enjoyed this video. I want to recommend a back and sides wood to you if you can get it. It's called " Lingue " other names for it are Afzelia, Doussie', Lenké, I have a L. Benito guitar with Lingue as the back and sides wood and it sounds incredible! Lenké has exceptional sound characteristics and is very well suited for djembe drum carving. It promotes clear sounds and a good differentiation. The shares of the bass, tone and slap sounds are balanced and distinctive.
Lenké has always been counted to be the most valuable african timber for Djembe making due to its hardness, density, elasticity, its durability and resistants.
    Afzelia Afzelia xylocarpa , Makamong
Afzelia is a relatively dense wood that ranges in color between yellow, orange, and brown. It is often compared to Koa in appearance. Tonally, Afzelia has an even tone with rich basses, clear mid-tones and crisp trebles. It is known for a very punchy, hard, low end and clear highs. A complete sounding tonewood.

Yes your guitars are true gems and I will buy one. However I honestly cannot better the sound of my Yamaha FG70 which is circa 1976 and of course the wood may not be as refined as Walnut but the sound is truly incredible and genuinely stuns listeners.Yes it's not built like a Lowden but beats so many vintage guitars even very old Gibsons or Martins. Please keep competing with the best.

@@mariangeloemmanoueleventaf3068 no, it’s because the focus of the video is to highlight the fact that not every guitar has to have rosewood to sound good. Also, he did play a rosewood, maybe you just have a confirmation bias because you don’t wanna believe that other woods are better for other things.

I have owned two Lowden guitars; a folk 025 and a jazz electro-accosutic...I found the 025 a little dull...I am a Martin man myself expecting a very responsive upper end cristal sounding tone...so I was a little dissappointed. The jazz was amazing. I forgot to say that the workmanship is impeccable and George Lowden is a wonderful very spiritual man.
