Also this year marks 40 years of Live Aid and yes they were there and they did play this song 🎵 😀.
the part at the end where Simon falls on the sand dune... I remember in the original video they show cross hairs (like a sniper scope) and he basically gets shot and falls... but they removed the effect and now he looks like he just falls for no reason. So weird that they removed that.
Simon has a very talented and beautiful voice! Back in the 90s he had throat surgery from straining his voice but still sounds great and he is 64 going on 65!

This may be my favorite of theirs. Just sublime in every way. That incredible sequenced keyboard intro. Roger's seductive groove. John's bass bends in the verses. Andy's funky guitar in the verses. And Simon's gorgeous soaring harmonies in the chorus. Btw, you sing really nicely. No need to hold back.
You can listen to the live version of this song from the album Arena. They are awesome live. And while you’re there listening to Careless memories is a must. Amazing singer, amazing band 😮
I popped in to say pretty much exactly this. I've listened to the Arena track so much, I can't hear this song with 'break' and Simon's little inflections in there. The reason I still have a VHS player is because of Arena :)
The Nick Rhodes synth intro is EPIC and continues on throughout the rest of the song. An under appreciated DD song IMO. My second fave DD song behind my #1 fave DD song “Is There Something I Should Know” p.s. if you didn’t see their New Year’s Eve performance from Times Squard you need to check it out, they were amazing!

You wanna hear them live & I wanna help you 😁 I mentioned it before, but DD did a live cover of a popular 70s track by the artist Steve Harley (his 1st or only #1) called "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)" which DD released as a Single, B-side, &/or additional Album Track for Rio or Seven And The Ragged Tiger… I nvr see anyone but other Duranies listen or talk about it. Simon sounds awesome, as well as the entire band; esp Andy's Guitar solo & backing vocals… Erasure covered it too, which I like a lot, but I way prefer DD's execution. I actually recommend checking out all 3, bc for me, as a US kid I didn't know it was a cvr, so after later finding out & listening to the original (which I also enjoy, including the video, as it totally embodies the 70's), I appreciated their version so much more.

@@JC-yz1sf I totally agree.🙂 When they got asked for the Bowie tribute to do '5 Years' (such a cool song), I thought they did a great job, but I was also kinda of laughing at the minor lyric tweeks fr/the original (of course my brainfog might be clouding my memory & Bowie may have chg'd the lyrics 1st) Either way, the vid is kinda freaky, but they look & sound great… I liked it btr than their studio version of 'Fame'.

If you pay attention you can catch Jennifer Connelly as one of the kids in the video..at one point she is leading a smaller kid around. Looking forward to more Duran and Depeche.

The video was filmed in the Australian desert! And yes they were the best group of 80’s but they still are a great band after 45 years!
