Girls on film - Save a prayer- all she wants is - I don't want your love - Planet Earth- Rio- Hungry like the wolf - they had so many good ones there still going strong today
This is the peak of New Wave, 1984. Some other great ones to get into DD are 'Hungry Like the Wolf", "Rio", "Wild Boys", "A View To A Kill", and "Save A Prayer" - those are all more or less the same era. Later stuff worth looking into are "Notorious", "Ordinary World", "Come Undone", etc.... They even put out music very recently. More than 40 years worth of music is a huge catalogue!
Arguably, * Hungry like a Wolf* would be one of their greatest known songs. However, " Save a Prayer" is beautiful and I love the way it flows and the sound is enchanting to me.

And yes, girls went crazy at the point where bassist John Taylor was considered the sexiest man on the planet. No boy band, they are real musicians. Awesome catalog of mega hits in their bag. They were beyond heartthrobs in the 80s...posters and tears everywhere....the craze of a boy band before boy bands came up....and fashion icons at the time too....oh, and a ton of hits of course...they vanished and came back in the early 90s a bit older, but a new sound and more big hits
Duran Duran were great musicians and wrote most of their songs. Their first 3 albums are monsters! They ruled MTV as well with great videos that defined the early to mid 80's. No cheesy disney looking stuff like NKOTB who were just singing and dancing. Duran Duran's early videos had to be edited for the US market. They had a great return in the early 90's as well.
Lead singer Simon is a Poet. Very much lyrics that make you think! Thank you for doing Duran Duran this was my band in my teens I adored them still do!! Save a prayer baby!! They write all their music very talented. Seeing them in concert in Vegas for new years!! Can’t wait
"Rio", "Hungry Like The Wolf', "New Moon On Monday", "A View To A Kill" and "Wild Boys" I had such a massive crush on Duran Duran, like most of the world at the time! So incredibly talented! They were New Wave, New Romantics, whatever we just loved to dance to their songs!
They are an 80s band . They are still out there performing. Amazing band. They were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2022. One of the first groups on Mtv
Huge band❤Duran Duran is an English Pop Rock band from 1979. They were the biggest part of the second Brittish music invasion of the early 80s. They are a solid band and really help usherer in the MTV video era. Lead singer Simon LeBon has one of the best pop voices ever.
YES! The Fab Five! My favorite 80’s band!! I finally got to see them at Red Rocks last year. They were phenomenal!! So many great songs, BP. Can’t wait for this rabbit hole to be explored. And yes, reflex was about self love. But not all their songs were about that. And yes, they were huge with the girls!!
This song brings back so many memories of growing up! My sister and I just went to see them last summer, and even 40 years later, they are still amazing!! New Romantic, New Wave, 2nd British Invasion! Amazing! Thanks for the reaction! They have a great catalog! Check out Girls on Film, Union of the Snake, New Moon on Monday, Is There Something I Should Know, Wild Boys...there are so many more!!
I have been following them for over 40yrs. Just saw them again last month and danced and sang like I was in my 20's, I am 62 now. They end thier shows with this song and the engery and hysteria you see in this video was the same last month.
“The Reflex” is indeed a song about self-pleasure. The eponymous “reflex” refers to that moment of joussance that we attempt to bring ourselves as close to as possible for as long as we can before realization-the “danger line” somebody's fooling around with his chances on, in other words. Release The song was released on April 16, 1984 as the eleventh single by the English pop rock band Duran Duran. Chart success "The Reflex" was Duran Duran's first number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching the top on June 23, 1984. Album "The Reflex" was the third and final single from Duran Duran's third studio album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger, which was released in 1983. Music video The music video for "The Reflex" was filmed at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario on March 5, 1984. Russell Mulcahy directed the video.
Duran Duran is an outstanding band with excellent musicians. They still sound fresh and innovative, and they explore different genres. Rio is a good song to react to; the bass line is out of this world.
They were massive in the 80's here in the UK, New Romantic era. Great rabbit hole to venture down. So many good songs to explore. Ordinary Day..... Rio.....Girls On Film..... Wild Boys...... Save A Prayer..... Come Undone..... Planet Earth.... Hungry Like The Wolf....
Saw them live in 1981 at London's Hammersmith Odeon. They were amazing and they still are. My late hubby looked a lot like John Taylor, the bassist, and once got chased around Grosvenor square by three hysterical fans..lol
I was in love with Duran Duran in the 80s. My walls were covered with their pics lol. I absolutely love Wild Boys. I remember when the video came out it was controversial for some reason and MTV limited play to usually at night.
Duran Duran had worldwide domination in the 81-87 they were HUGGGEEEEEEE! They are still performing today! They were the Kings oh MTV back in the day. I was 12 years when they first released their first single Planet Earth. Obviously still love them to this day. Their videos are fantastic. Their 12 inch singles are amazing! I have them all on vinyl. Enjoy Duran Duran, oh & John Taylor is the best bass guitarist❤️
I drove my car from Northern New York to the World's Fair in New Orleans in 1984 and then forwarded to Phoenix, Arizona....I played my Duran Duran cassette the entire time....I loved this band... Thanks for the video
You finally went into my favorite 80's rabbit hole, Duran Duran! Edit: I have seen them in concert 3X, once in the 80's, the early 2000's and 2010's. They are in their early 60's, and they still tour. Plus John Taylor is a BEAST of a bass player!
Duran Duran was my absolute favorite band! I loved every song they released. Their "A View to a Kill" in the James Bond film topped them off and showed they had made it! Bon, Simon le Bon (using Bond's voice) was the lead singer. Personally, Nick Rhodes left me breathless! Dive deep, Pegasus, dive deep. They are a phenomenal group!
I was there that night. My mom took me and seven of my friends, piled us all into the car, and took us to see them at Maple Leaf Gardens. What a night! It was my second concert ever, and a first for all of my friends. My mom was on her feet and dancing as soon as they hit the stage, and got pissed when we were slow getting to the car so we couldn't get to the stage door before the band came out, lol. And yes, these dudes had a lot of girls going crazy. We called ourselves Duranies, and covered our walls with their posters.
Duran Duran has sold over 100 million albums worldwide during their career. This iconic British band, known for hits like Rio and Hungry Like the Wolf, continues to perform globally, releasing new music and reissuing classic albums.
I had just graduated high school and Duran Duran epitomized the music scene in the 80s. Take them Blondie Pat Benatar the Go-Gos & you have the pop piece; then you had Queen (crossing decades) as did Fleetwood, Bon Jovi David Bowie & the hair bands and mix it all together in this glorious decade. Also remember that a new channel had just debuted - MTV! One side note for me I had just discovered what would become I suppose my favorite band overall, which was the Eagles. Little did I know that my favorite song was on the last album that they did for 14 years. However, a brand new style of radio station was available called classic rock. And I was able to sample all of the old catalogs like the Eagles Linda Ronstadt Elton John, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne, Kenny Loggins…. the list just keeps going on and on.
Oh, I can’t forget Madonna. I first heard of her in 1982 while I was at the mall in Lenox Square in Atlanta, Georgia. Borderline came on I stood still. I loved it immediately. Then she had a movie come out with a song that I desperately saw out called “into the groove”. For whatever reason you couldn’t find it as a single for eons. Just so much music! ☺️
I was such a Duranie in the 80s. Madly in love with bassist John Taylor and lived and breathed their music. So many huge hits and they did a Bond theme! Oh the memories ❤ Thank you BP for this!!
I was a major Duranie in the 80s. I even had their board game. The Reflex came out in '83. Not only were they known for their great songs, but they changed the way people watched videos on MTV. Most videos up until Duran Duran were just concert footage. However, Duran Duran changed that with some of their videos like Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, The Wild Boys, New Moon on Monday and Save a Prayer. They are still making music today. If you want to see 2 of their latest releases, check out Danse Macabre & Evil Woman. They even made a remake of New Moon on Monday called New Moon.
This is from 1984 and is part of the New Wave genre. The Reflex is about being impulsive although the lyrics are a little cryptic. I highly recommend "Rio" "Hungry Like the Wolf" "Is There Something I Should Know" and "Girls on Film." They have so many great songs and are still playing and making music today. Back in the day they were huge and girls were crazy about them. Everyone had their favorite member. I was a Simon Le Bon girl all the way.
Duran Duran was early 80's and I can remember being 13 and having posters all over my bedroom wall. They consisted of:- Simon Le Bon [singer] Nick Rhodes [keyboards] John Taylor [Guitarist] Roger Taylor [Drummer] Andy Taylor [Bass] They performed at Live Aid in 1985 and are depicted back stage in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie (John Taylor) who can be seen walking past Freddie as he went on stage [just a little movie fact]. They have had many hits as Rio, Girls on Film, Hungry Like the Wolf, The Reflex and also did a cover to a Bond film "A View to a Kill" with Timothy Dalton as Bond. They were massive back in the day !
“Hungry Like the Wolf” is their most popular song. “Rio” “Ordinary World” and “Girls on Film” are other huge hits of this group. Great group selection that you should definitely continue to check out.
This video was actually a smaller piece of a whole movie concert. It incorporated the villain from Barbarella named Duran Duran of which the band named themselves after.❤
They were game.changers in the 80s and videos. I am a Durannie! And not ashamed to say so these MANY years later. They performed for Live Aid, sang on Bans Aid's Do They Know Its Christmas in 1984, did a theme song for a Bond film and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a few years ago. Classic 80s Pop Band!!❤❤
😃 Birmingham (UK) in the 80’s was a great place to be because of these local lads. ❤ In the 80’s we were called Duranies😃 Me and thousands of other Duranies at concerts all wearing frilly shirts, trilby hats, and pixie boots 🤣
I was OBSESSED with this song back in the day. I was in love with everything they did. I was in love with the drummer. Most reactors seem to do RIO. I wasn't crazy about that one, back in the 80s, but now I love it. It has an amazing bass line. My personal favorite Duran Duran song, though, is Save A Prayer. And I can get a little crazy with Wild Boys.

Please, sir. May I have more Duran Duran? Notoriuous, Save a Prayer, Ordinary World... The list goes on and on. Literally the most underrated band of all time, despite being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It's by far my favorite Duran Duran song.❤❤
Duran Duran we're massive in America from 1982 thought to 1994, and still sell out tours now
Duran Duran 💥💚💚💚
Out of all the concerts I've been to, Duran Duran is my all time favorite! All their songs are great.
No comparison to new kids. These where proper musicians. Writing and preforming all there music.
You have entered a whole world of great music with this band. They were at the head of the second British Invasion of the 80s and were huge superstars
Lead singer Simon is a Poet. Very much lyrics that make you think! Thank you for doing Duran Duran this was my band in my teens I adored them still do!! Save a prayer baby!! They write all their music very talented. Seeing them in concert in Vegas for new years!! Can’t wait
WOW. FINALLY. ICONS. SO GLAD YOU GOTTA SEE THIS GREAT GREAT 80s video..... TOP NOTCH SONG.....
This rabbit hole goes deep.
The Duran Duran rabbit hole is deep and have been a fan since about 83ish.. Definitely worth the trip!
Duran was the top shelf of the 80's Fab movement. The new wave movement ruled the decade and Duran ruled the world.
I LOVE Duran Duran…lots of hits from them!
They are an 80s band . They are still out there performing. Amazing band. They were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2022. One of the first groups on Mtv
I absolutely LOVED Duran Duran ❤❤❤
Duran Duran took their name from the movie Barberalla.
Their first big hit was “Girls on Film” about runway models. It’s a fantastic song.
Was not the first in uk…..planet earth .. then hungry like the wolf….this was about the fourth hit in uk
Loved Planet Earth! Very synth pop.
Planet Earth was the first hit in Australia. Absolutely loved Duran Duran. My walls were full of their posters. Loved the lead singer Simon LeBon ❤️
DD is a phenomenal 80's pop rock band. One of the best bass players in the world. Try them all...
Duran Duran is the bomb! Explorer it bro.
One of my favourite bands as a teenager. So many hits.
I agree go down the rabbit hole!!! My favorite all time band huge and active to this day!!❤❤❤❤
Duran Duran for me great band, best band 👍👍
Duran Duran were always a cutting edge band. My favorite song by them was Wild Boys.
Planet earth!! Start from the start. .. awesome group!
Girls on film girls on film music video 🔥people got upset it was wonderful!! Video was great!!
Ordinary World is my favourite Duran Duran song
“The Reflex” is indeed a song about self-pleasure. The eponymous “reflex” refers to that moment of joussance that we attempt to bring ourselves as close to as possible for as long as we can before realization-the “danger line” somebody's fooling around with his chances on, in other words.
Release
The song was released on April 16, 1984 as the eleventh single by the English pop rock band Duran Duran.
Chart success
"The Reflex" was Duran Duran's first number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching the top on June 23, 1984.
Album
"The Reflex" was the third and final single from Duran Duran's third studio album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger, which was released in 1983.
Music video
The music video for "The Reflex" was filmed at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario on March 5, 1984. Russell Mulcahy directed the video.
Duran Duran is an outstanding band with excellent musicians. They still sound fresh and innovative, and they explore different genres. Rio is a good song to react to; the bass line is out of this world.
John Taylor ❤ I had the biggest crush back in the day!!
Yeah, me too!
And me 😂
Me too! All though I would have taken any of them.😂
@karenglwnn7607 Girl, so did I. He is, still, handsome. 😍
Most definitely!
Just a band that brought so much fun to the 80's it was a crazy time where every party you went to was full of music, dancing, and girls. Then babies.
They were massive in the 80's here in the UK, New Romantic era. Great rabbit hole to venture down. So many good songs to explore. Ordinary Day..... Rio.....Girls On Film..... Wild Boys...... Save A Prayer..... Come Undone..... Planet Earth.... Hungry Like The Wolf....
Just use Grammar however you want. It's fine.
Saw them live in 1981 at London's Hammersmith Odeon. They were amazing and they still are. My late hubby looked a lot like
John Taylor, the bassist, and once got chased around Grosvenor square by three hysterical fans..lol
One of my favorite pop/rock groups
I LOVE Duran Duran!
Simon Le Bon crushed my heart in the 80s 😚 I loved every song they did, so good memorys
Duran Duran has sold over 100 million albums worldwide during their career. This iconic British band, known for hits like Rio and Hungry Like the Wolf, continues to perform globally, releasing new music and reissuing classic albums.
Duran Duran is my 2nd favorite band. So many bangers.
i saw them last year and they are still as good as they were in the 80s
It's a huge rabbit hole 😂
Major influence of teenagers everywhere ❤
Duran Duran were HUGE.
Oh the memories ❤
Thank you BP for this!!
Saw them live last month...still killing it! Amazing show!
I am a John Taylor and Andy girl. 😍
@@LibraALLWoman Powerstation was epic.
Duran Duran was early 80's and I can remember being 13 and having posters all over my bedroom wall. They consisted of:-
Simon Le Bon [singer]
Nick Rhodes [keyboards]
John Taylor [Guitarist]
Roger Taylor [Drummer]
Andy Taylor [Bass]
They performed at Live Aid in 1985 and are depicted back stage in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie (John Taylor) who can be seen walking past Freddie as he went on stage [just a little movie fact].
Yep, one of the first Live stage video performances used for their music videos. Check out “Rio” & “Hungry Like a Wolf”…considered 80’s pop/rock.
This video was actually a smaller piece of a whole movie concert. It incorporated the villain from Barbarella named Duran Duran of which the band named themselves after.❤
fantastic band.
Love this song.
😃 Birmingham (UK) in the 80’s was a great place to be because of these local lads. ❤ In the 80’s we were called Duranies😃 Me and thousands of other Duranies at concerts all wearing frilly shirts, trilby hats, and pixie boots 🤣
ALL their songs are catchy, specially there earlier stuff from the 80s. I saw this drop and I clicked on immediately!
Seen these guys a bunch of times in concert they put on a great show
I was OBSESSED with this song back in the day.
