Great Live, @Stan The Credit Frog! I was surprised to hear that you prefer the Surpass over the Aspire, but I absolutely agree based on my lifestyle and organic spending.
@@TheCreditFrog yes, this card was discontinued for new applicants. There were 4 Ink cards in the past - Plus, Bold, Cash and Classic. Only Cash remains right now.
As a Southwest flyer myself I’m eager to see what Southwest announces next month about how they will implement assigned seating. I could see their 2 free checked bags the next to go which I wouldn’t care too much about. Enjoy your time in New Orleans!
Oh, I didn't realize that they would announce it so soon! I'm also very curious about how this is going to work. The free checked bags have been clutch for me, but sadly we can't have nice things forever. I appreciate it!
A observation, we have 3 Hilton Cards , i checked the price of a stay with my United Card for a hilton and compared it to the rate shown with my Hilton card. That check they were the same. We went anyway with the hilton card due to the great hilton based card multipliers. I was surprised the united card in that test was the same
Yeah, the Hilton multipliers are super solid with Hilton, especially the Business/Surpass/Aspire! I don’t think I’d consider using even a flexible point currency 3X card for a Hilton stay, let alone a United card!
You had said you didn’t like the change of the Hilton business card. You used to like getting the free night for $15000 before the change. Have you considered that if you can get Hilton gift cards to balance the annual fee, $15,000 in spend gets you 75,000 points which is more than most redemptions.
That's an interesting way to look at it! Most of my redemptions with FNCs have been 100k+ Hilton points so it really does depend on how you value those certificates, but I can see where you're coming from!
@@TheCreditFrogit takes the pressure off finding a high value booking within a year before expiring. You also can’t use a fnc to get fifth free night. Additionally with their points plus cash option you can use the $60 in a quarter when you are booking, or buy a gc if you don’t.
5 cards for rest of my life question. I'd have the chase trifecta with the CSR. The Aspire. UNITED business. The $100 statement credit makes it better than the explorer and flight/ lounge benefits are the same. Trigger the credit it's free. Don't trigger the credit and it costs the same as the explorer.
Nice! Yeah, I didn't even think of the United business card, but if you purchase 7 United flights and can get that credit, it's certainly going to be a better deal than the Explorer. These are 2 great mid-tier airline credit cards! Using them in combo is nice for the anniversary bonus, but the Gateway is probably a better choice for that.
As a retailer, the vast majority of your spend is going to be with vendors, so non-category spend. You're better off with the BBP, and/or a Capital One Spark / Venture X Business. An Ink card could work too for phone / internet / office supplies / shipping. The Ink Premier only makes sense if you have a large number of purchases over $5,000 for that extra half %. I was a perfect candidate, but Chase blew it on my first chargeback, admitting that they had made a mess of things. Back to Capital One I went.
Yeah, non-category spend is the category to target with retail for sure! And if it's a PSSL card, that's even better! That sucks that Chase wasn't able to help you with the chargeback, and customer service, I'm sure, is a really important aspect because these situations come up, probably even more frequently than on the personal side. It's not every day you hear that Chase customer service is worse than Chase!
@@TheCreditFrog You would not believe some of the vendors I've had to deal with, from not shipping products, asking Amazon to block me from selling their products after purchase, trying to take out free loans because they're in a bind, using my UPS account to ship to other customers, being called racist for standing up to a duplicate charge, etc. In this case, Chase turned my $675 chargeback into $225 and $450 disputes for some reason, sided with the vendor without allowing me to provide evidence, and gave them just the $450 back. Initially they accused me of closing the case, then said that they closed it by mistake. My statements were messy with duplicate debits and credits coming and going, total chaos. I have up to $30,000 orders, often from very indie sources, so I need a company like Capital One or Amex that I can trust.
Stories from the trenches! It's a cutthroat business world out there! Thanks for sharing, but it's great to know the C1 business customer service has been more helpful to you!
Good content as usual. These LIVE are way too long. Wishing there was a way to compress then and get the good info/content condensed! Would also be nice if you guys from time to time would remind the "general public" that tons of the points you guys get, and as a consequence the "aspirations travel" is because of referrals and your jobs that require you to travel to begin with. Hence earning tons of points on airfare/hotels, etc. Most people will never get as many points annually organically (just in regular expenses) regardless of which cards they have. And that comes from someone that puts almost $100K through CC yearly!!!
Thanks! Yeah, I try to stick to 2 hours for Lives, which has been the usual length of them. I do cut these lives up into 10-20min videos as highlights the following week so that could be a nice way for you to consume this content. I make it very clear on my channel that I travel often, and while I get referrals, it's not as many as you think! It's true though that most people won't get a lot of points with organic spend, but that's why welcome offers are the way to go to get a lot of points quickly. If you spent that $100k on a Hilton Business, that would be at least 500k Hilton points! Alternatively 150k UR points through the CFU or equivalent which could go a long way with Hyatt, but I'm sure you maximize way more than that!
@@TheCreditFrog thanks for your reply. I wasn’t accusing you in particular. Was talking about cc content creators in general. Didn’t mean to make it sound like you or some others were hiding it. And yes, you are right about the intro bonus. Like most, I try to take advantage of the ones that I can or would help my type of spending. Again, thanks for the content. Always helpful!!
I am enjoying trying the easy delta silver you get with 2 cards but with 2 slots used for Hilton this only leaves one left I could use for the Brilliant but this locks me out of the BBP which I have a feeling I may ultimately get , unless delta raises their MQD qualifying rates without a similar increase from the Amex cards
I think that's the common consensus. Having a BBP is super important, but that just leaves either 4 slots for one co-branded system or 2 slots for two co-branded systems. You have to figure out which brand or brands are important to you!
Overall like my Marriott experience, especially overseas, but as a "Lifetime Titanium" I have had a few horrible experiences usually centered around poorly trained front desk folks who do not seem to care or know what it took to get to LT. Very surprising sometimes....
Hey Stan, I ended up applying for and was approved for the Bonvoy Bold Card, $7,200 credit limit with the 60K offer and credit score only went down 1 point so I’m still sitting at a 760 score
Random question about the United silver benefit of Marriott titanium: even though I’ve been working on Delta and AA status, living near SFO it was inevitable that I would already have a LOT of UA travel next year. I could stretch for a silver status match but not sure things line up within the challenge period well. Problem is I’ve got at least a couple years before I’ll be able to climb the Marriott ladder based on card eligibility etc. Question I guess is if I had to add one more trip during a status challenge to get UA silver is it worth it? People bag on UA silver but it’s the only carrier that allows you to preselect economy plus at booking- Delta you need the third tier platinum for that!
If you're flying out of SFO, United Silver is worth it. At the very least, you'll get a free checked bag and priority boarding. UA Silver can preselect economy plus at check-in (not booking, you need United Gold Elite or higher to do that), which is not ideal, but still very helpful. I'd rather have UA Silver if I could, but if not, that's what the United Explorer/Business card is good for since you could just pay an annual fee to have most of those benefits (minus the Economy Plus seat choice at check-in).
@@WhatsThePoints1 No, I don’t think the free checked bag benefits apply to a companion. Not sure if they get priority check-in either, but I think they should.
