Watched the playback. Thanks for all the content and answering my question Stan! I think I decided to try for the WOH and Savior One one the same day next month. Those are two keeper cards instead of the Aeroplan and the Ink Preferred is too much for a sign up bonus. Worst case I can just garden longer but either way that is the plan to pretty much ice my profile for a year or two after this. Y’all have fun with your Journey Beyond’s and Strata Elites I have to sit back and watch for a while and earn with the multipliers.
Of course, glad you found the insights valuable! Best of luck on the two applications! Yeah, if your last cards are 12 months from your mortgage application, you should be in pretty good shape. Just try your best to keep that credit score over 760, and you'll be able to get the best rates.
@@TheCreditFrog I cancelled it five months ago when my AF posted. Don’t value the credits at all and quite frankly paying an AF for the privilege to buy food never sat right with me. That’s one of the reasons why I want the Savior One because my FF sign up bonus on groceries has been covering me but that goes away in 5 months and also the Savior One will complete my Capital One Duo. And I also want one more Chase card because I’m 4/24 like I’ve said and I didn’t follow those rules to not all of a sudden get my value there. Once you are on that 24 month rule train you kind of have to stay the course for max value or what was the point. I only burned one slot on the VX which of course is worth it.
Thanks for pulling up my question Stan! Was not able to join live but finally got a chance to view the whole thing, was super fun to see folks live-vote their best opinions. Hope to join in next time!
Stan, thank you very much for addressing my questions (and others of the community)! The visuals/slides were awesome. Keep up the great work Stan, you then Uncle Luke are my favorites!
I feel like 5/24 is often a bit over blown. Sure it makes sense to stay under if there are more Chase cards that you are trying to get but staying under 5/24 hoping Chase releases a card you want or just incase you change your mind on a Chase card doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
Yeah, I see what you mean, but I personally think it's a rule that has to be respected if Chase continues to have great welcome offers on their cards or, like you mentioned, there are still Chase cards on the roadmap. I certainly wouldn't worry about Chase 5/24 if you're just hoping for a better card to come out, but if you want to maximize your chances for a nice welcome offer, for example, on an Ink card, being under Chase 5/24 rule is the low-hanging fruit to be aware of.
@@TheCreditFrog what about mailers being used to get Inks even when over 5/24? and if approved for them, they wouldn't add to make you 7/24 or 10/24 or haha 24/24 right?
Chase has most AND best cobranded ccs. Great Biz cards, esp inks. For many maybe most, no prob playing by 5/24 simply bc very few subs outside Chase worth Chasing (😋).
Thank you Stan for answering my question in detail. Good to see you and other folks see the value in keeping points till I can do bigger travel in not so long future. Sorry could not join live stream until late. Poll option is really cool. Will try to join live next time so that I can take part in the polls. Keep up the great work
You’re welcome! No worries, hope you can join next time. Glad to hear you are keeping the points, but definitely consider those nicer redemptions! The polls were great to use so hope they have you insight on how others viewed your situation as well!
Stan, thank you so much for answering both questions. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch the livestream, so I watched the replay. As usual, your content is informative and interactive (especially with the new polls), and I appreciate your analytical take on the points & miles game. One thing to add is that I agree with you the USBAR annual $325 annual credit is the easiest to use in the points & miles game as it could be used with dining and travel, but the Chase Sapphire Reserve is almost just as accessible with travel and transit credit. The talking point that is always brought up is that you will earn points with the USBAR but not the CSR. While this is primarily true, if you use the credit along with LYFT, you will still earn 7x back, as it is entirely separate from Chase's normal earnings. On top of that, you can double dip the spending using either BILT or Hilton to earn 2x or 3x, respectively.
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the answer to be helpful! Hopefully, you can attend the livestream next time. The USBAR is the most flexible credit, but you're right, the CSR is pretty close behind, although it only covers travel purchases. I didn't know about the Lyft situation or if the double-dipping! How exactly would you do that?
@@TheCreditFrog Stan, as long as you connect your CSR with your LYFT account, you will automatically earn the 7x back from Chase at the end of your billing cycle. After the $300 credit is used up, you get 10x back. In addition, this also works with the CSP, but you will only earn 5x back (3x from LYFT plus 2x from the standard travel multiplier). As for the doubling dipping, you need to link your BILT or Hilton account with your LYFT account on their respective apps. The best thing about that is you earn points from either BILT or Hilton a few days later. However, you can only link one of those accounts at a time. Just like BILT dining, it will automatically delink your account if you switch the programs. If you have either the CSR or CSP, you are looking at a total of 12x to 7x UR and BILT points, which could all be transferred to any of their many shared transfer partners.
No problem Henry - next time! As for those two cards, the Hilton Aspire is the better card since it's FNC comes right away and is uncapped. It's got more statement credits, which sucks, but since it has a lower AF at $550, it's got a better value proposition than the Bonvoy Brilliant. Hilton Diamond is better the Marriott Platinum. But if you like Marriott, the Brilliant is definitely the card to get an an 85k FNC is nice to have, but you gotta wait a year for it!
Stan, I have an upgrade offer on my Amex Gold Card to upgrade to the Platinum Card (125K for $6k spend in 6 months). I think the offer is great and worth it for the points alone (annual fee would be around the $350 mark, due to annual fee refund). I would like to hear your thoughts on this? I have spend to cover the SUB, I just would like to make sure this is worth it for me (and I know YMMV) but would like to hear your thoughts! Thanks.
This sounds like a great offer! Especially when you take into consideration the annual fee after considering the prorated refund! I would only mention that the all-time offer right now on the Platinum is 175k MRs for $8k spend in 6 months. The Gold upgrade offer is about 21 points per dollar spent with the new Platinum offer is about 22 points per dollar spent, so it's more or less a wash in terms of which offer is better. I think it would come down to how much money you can spend with the MSR and how many MR points you want with the bonus. The benefit of doing the upgrade is that there is no new account on your credit report, which could be helpful for your credit score and your 5/24 status depending on when you first got the Gold card. No right answer here - just your call!
@@TheCreditFrog Thank you for breaking that down, I really appreciated that. I just realized that I would loose out on the (once in a lifetime) language offers if I choose to go with the "upgrade" offer. I spoke with a rep and they mentioned that sometimes the offers do not state the (once in a lifetime) language, so I guess its a toss. Still really interesting!
@@scarpelliproductions No problem! Yeah, if that means a lot to you. You can first get the Platinum card and then wait on the welcome offer - or if you can meet both spend requirements, you can try to double-dip (apply for Platinum, then immediately accept upgrade offer right afterwards) but the combined MSR for both offers is a tall ask for sure.
Stan, the problem with the last poll may be because of what I have copied and pasted below. If so, you should not have a problem with the paid version. 50 participants per month "Is Mentimeter free? Yes! As a free user, you can create an unlimited number of presentations with any question type and host up to 50 participants per month. To have more than 50 participants in a single month, you'll need to upgrade your account."
Thanks for looking into this! Yeah, I wanted to see how many people actually joined the live polling. I looked after the stream, and I definitely exceeded 50 participants. I thought that it would be ok, but I'm pretty sure they shut off my presentation because I went over 50 (probably multiple times at that point). Will upgrade for the next stream since everyone seemed to enjoy the live polling!
Point hoarding is a balance scale right. I am sitting on a lot of hilton points with the hopes to using them on one of their luxury hotels for a future trip. It does not look like I will be using them this year due to indecision from husband an I on where to travel to. I would "hoard" as many points if there is goal to use them. Otherwise, I would withdraw for cash back.
For sure! Yeah, there really isn't a right answer other than what I said in the livestream, which is that unused points are worthless. It's up to us to put these points to work and to figure out when the right time to do so would be!
Thank you Stan. Packed full of information... Much appreciated!

Sorry about that. Yes, you are correct - unlimited PP guests for RC card, but it certainly is subject to the lounge's discretion.
