      Hi, can you tell the part number if you used 5592C or 5592A? Bit confused for 1.8 TSI

    that poor torque wrench should never be used that way... You mess them up when you turn them past the torque setting. Use the breaker bar!
    You wouldn't need a second jack if you used a jack stand for safety.
    It is recommended to change both springs, not to save one as a spare.

    Great video. Thanks. I see you got both rear springs, but in the video you suggest that you will keep one 'as a spare', and you say the other original spring 'looks in good shape'. I'm hoping you changed your mind and replaced the other rear spring as well. They really should be replaced as a pair I think. It looks to be a pretty easy job, and since you've already worked out a system the second one will be even easier. I wouldn't want to drive a car very far with non-matching springs. Even if the new one is of the exact same spec as the old, from the same factory, manufactured on the same day, they will be at different stages of aging, different lengths, different stiffness, different springiness, etc.

      Paul Mackilligin - Thanks for the comment. You're absolutely right about the springs and I should've replaced both at the same time, but it's been perfectly fine and the ride quality hasn't changed.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge Cory. The rear end of my sixth generation Jetta is sagging compared to the front. I think I want to change both rear springs. Do you have advice on how to check the shocks and no when they are due for change? Would it be wise to change them at the same time or is it unnecessary?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, does the rear of the vehicle bounce more than normal when going over bumps? If you push on the rear of the vehicle by hand does it bounce more than once or twice? If your answer is yes, then it's time for new shocks. The springs are what holds the weight of the vehicle and the shocks cushion and stabilize the ride. I hope this helps you.

    It appears this is a common issue. I have the same year Jetta
    I’m from a Toyota family and we’ve never even heard springs breaking!
    Those springs look nice quality.
    The factory springs list at $130 each which is crazy.
    Excellent tutorial, thanks.

      auxmike - I hear ya! We used to have Honda's and never had a spring break. Volkswagen's are more fun to drive though, but that's my opinion.

    I have a 2013 Jetta SE, but I don’t know if I have a Solid or IRS suspension. I tried looking it up but no luck. Can you help me out. Thank you in advance.

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably have the rear beam suspension unless you have a GLI or hybrid model. In 2014 IRS became standard on the Jetta.

    If I buy rear spring perches that are purposely thicker, mean the rear of the the car may sit slightly higher then going with an oem non-thick top perch?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, you will sit slightly higher. Why are you wanting to do that?

      I tried to search for them too, but I had no luck. I can find them for the wagon, but not the sedan. Sorry that I couldn't help.

    How would i know if my suspension is bad and not the coilovers? My car sits really low onthe back left side and when somebody is inthe back seat the wheel touches the wheel well real badd and scrapes. Would u happen to know?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      derek diaz - Check your suspension for worn/broken springs and shocks. You might need a suspension refresh.

    What if that rubber mount breaks on the bottom? I found the insulator but I cannot find that plastic piece on the bottom of the insulator. Will this matter?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely replace the mount! I don't recall a plastic piece. It's been awhile since I did this.

    • @tribs822

      @@Corysdiyauto In the video your coil spring was stuck in that bottom mount. There was that little plastic piece holding it on, mine was broken but the control arm mount looked fine. The seat / insulator is fine but there is a little plastic mount that goes underneath the seat / insulator. I’m guessing since if you buy a new seat and it doesn’t come with it, you shouldn’t need it. I was just asking if anybody had any idea where to get one or if it’s really needed.

    • @Corysdiyauto

    Hi do you think a 145.300 miles jetta se 2014 should get them replaced

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Johnny Diaz - I would take a look at them and see what kind of condition they are in. If they aren't broken anywhere and aren't severely rusted, then I would leave them go.
