Awesome video guys. I didnt know what I was doing whem i first bought this thing so I had to fix it. I bought this cleaning kit you recommended and followed this video step by step. Thank you so much!!! You got yourselves a new subscriber.
Woohoo!!! Welcome to the good life, Adam! So you share Adam’s name, and Brett’s love for the Cubs!🤗 Thank you so much for finding us, brother! Griddle on!!!🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I just purchased my first blackstone and I seasoned it yesterday and cooked on it for the first time. I am feeling like I did not do it right. My blackstone is not smooth and sort of sticky feeling. I cooked steaks on it last night steaks came out great but initially stuck. I am not sure what I did wrong how do I get mine to be smooth do I need to start all over. Glad I found your channel because I feel like you guys could be a huge help. Thanks!
Congratulations on the new griddle fam!! Don’t worry about it, we’re sure you didn’t right! It may be a bit sticky at first, especially from the very first cook - over time (and sooner rather than later), it will get much smoother and nonstick. Hope this helps fam!!🔥🔥
Thank you so much for this video! What seems like a daunting process was made very approachable with your clear step-by-step directions! Now my Blackstone looks nice again ☺️
Haha! Thank you so much for the kind words! Someone once said they appreciate that we take the mystery out of griddle cooking - we try to have the same approach with repair and maintenance as well. Please let us k ow of you ever have questions, we’re so happy this helped!! Take care fam!!🤗🤗
Super informative and so helpful. I love when you both do these videos. You make it so less intimidating and easy to understand. I get flustered sometimes reading directions right out of the box and wondering if I'm doing it right. Sending you huge thanks from this Jersey Girl! Be well! 🌞👏
Wow, thank you so much! We know it’s not as exciting when we don’t cook, but we love to teach what we’ve learned about griddling - and this is an important part of it. Much love fam, GRIDDLE ON!💙💙🔥🔥
You guys are always making great content! This video was a world of help. I have a few places that need this done. Thanks for making it look simple and easy step by step.
Excellent job, straightforward no fluff I like it. I do have one question, I live in east Tennessee and its nasty humid here as well, I watch a video of yours where you did the full restore and that prompted me to purchase a used one, and I restored it your video was awesome, but you uave seasoned it with all types of oil, so whats best oil to season with canola, avocado, flaxseed or grapeseed you have used about all? Thanks for sharing, stay safe and God bless
Thank you so much for watching fam!! In the humidity here in Florida, we found that the flaxseed oil seems to hold up best for the seasoning. Hope this helps! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Hey guys I am new to griddling and love your channel! I just purchased the Walmart 36" and just converted to natural gas. We love it! Keep the great videos coming!
I don't own a Blackstone. I've always been a charcoal grill or wood smoker guy but have recently gotten hooked on burgers including custom beef grinds. Try either brisket or beef neck. I'm planning on getting one of the smaller Blackstones but wasn't sure about seasoning but this answered all my questions. Thanks for the great content guys
This is a good repair video... it's nice to see this as opposed to stripping it all the way back. Mine has a couple little spots with seasoning coming off, but not too bad. I will definitely use what I learned in this video to help in the future for sure. I am currently trying to decide whether or not to keep my Blackstone on the patio this winter. It rains a lot here in the winter, so I don't know how much I'll be using it, but I just don't have room in the garage. I guess I'll ask for a 22 in e Series for Christmas! My mom just bought me the meat grinder for my KitchenAid Mixer for my birthday (even though it was in July), and I got some boneless chicken thighs from Costco today. I'm going to make the Chicken Cordon Bleu smash burgers over the weekend. Thanks bros, and Griddle On!
Woot woot!! Thank you as always fam! For sure, we know it’s never as exciting when we don’t cook, but also love showing and teaching all things griddling.😂😂. The chicken smashburgers are so good, we love it! We have another one in a video coming up next week we did with Todd Toven! Much love brother, GRIDDLE ON!!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Awesome video. I need to repair or strip mine and reseason. I was worried it was going to be a daunting task. Y'all made it look pretty dang easy. Thanks for the video.
Is the brick the best way to remove some rust along the edges as well as the outlet for the grease? Will that eventually season over by the seasoning process you used. Is seed oil the best or could you use avocado oil?
I've had my B.S. for over 4 yrs. Never have done this before. I think mine needs a little TLC. When it comes to the stone, how much pressure do you apply? Yours came out beautiful...
Thanks got watching, David! You really don’t need to apply a lot of pressure for the most parts… some of the parts that seem more stubborn need a little more pressure and attention, but not too much. Hope this helps! Griddle on!!!🤙🏻
Great Video you two! I don't use my Blackstone nearly as much as you do, like every 10 minutes (LOL), but this is a great video for the Blackstone community! Much Luv Fam!!! GRIDDLE ON!!!
I’m new to the whole “Blackstone world”..love your videos!! They have a TON of great info, and the hibachi I saw you make the other day is on my MUST MAKE list!! Thanks for the info you guys share!! Can’t wait to see more!!
Timm!!! Welcome to the good life brother! Thank you so much for finding us! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions you have! Griddle on!!!🤗🤙🏻
I have been pondering the idea of getting some oil cloth or VCI paper cut to the size of the cook top and cover it before closing the lid. It's an old way of protecting metal from rust during storage.
Glad to hear you don’t feel so bad brother! We have learned that this machine is super forgiving, and can take a lickin’! Repairing brought it back like new, and we got right back to cooking! Thank you so much for watching, Kevin! Griddle on!!!🤙🏻
Do you just use vegetable oil when cooking? I see you switched to the pit boss. I am used to cooking on a restaurant griddle and hate all the oil needed for cooking on this Blackstone. Should I make the jump also?
Great video guys I did not know they made this kit and I’m going to get it now is after two years mine certainly could use some repair. Keep up the cooking!
Another great video guys! I've had my culinary edition since August and love it. One question is how high a heat do you put it on when you season? When I seasoned mine I feel I put it on top high because seemed like the griddle was burning my paper towel when wiping the oil on. All the videos I saw said to put it on high but maybe mine just runs very hot?
Thank you so much for watching! High is recommended, we just make sure and move the paper towel quickly. My griddle runs really hot, and you can actually see in this video, I have my middle two burners set to medium - you may want to try that as well!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Great question! I would start with a repair similar to this video. If it doesn’t quite get it the way you want it, for sure you can strip it - we have a video that shows show we do it, but there are others who have had someone sand spray/strip it. Hope this helps fam!🔥🔥
You have no idea how much this comment means to us, Ben. And how much your constant support means… You are the reason why we love this so much… We can’t thank you enough, brother! Griddle on!🤙🏻❤️
Fantastic video! I've been wondering how that brick is to be used and the final result looks very good! I'll be picking one of these kits up. Would love to see you include the orange pad use at some point as well.
On the griddle cleaning kit it said to heat the griddle for 20 minutes first then the stone. Does it need to be heated before using the stone to clean?
Thank you so much for watching! If we were using the scrubber, we would use it dry, or maybe with oil. There are many ways to clean the pumice, we just use soap and water. Hope this helps!!🤙🤙💙💙
For cleaning purposes does it matter if the griddle is still warm or hot ot can it be cold when applying the layer of oil after cleaning all the food off?
Thank you so much for watching! After it’s all clean, you want to apply the last oil layer on the cool griddle, so it acts as a protective layer, and doesn’t “cook.” Hope this helps!🤙🤙
@@waltwins it does thanks guys. There's a few spots where it doesn't seem as smooth and less non-stick as other areas. I guess it'll get better the more we cook. BTW you guys rock!
Question: after cleaning with the oil and before seasoning when you turn it on high and let it get hot wouldn’t that oil bake onto it? I haven’t seasoned it yet but it’s warming up and it’s looking spotty
Yo brothers this was a good video it makes me want to buy a new griddle, but I want a really big griddle , like a 6 burner. ( I like big things. ) when I first bought my blackstone I thought it was huge ! But now it looks small. What's a person to do ??? Thank you Frank from montana...
Hey fam! Okay, I used a degreaser, but it tends to get a bit gunked up, but honestly it’s a hot the only thing I’ve found that works (that is good safe). I’m sure there are other methods/items to use, cut that’s about it. I did use a Clorox wipe on the outside of the hood and that worked really well🤙🤙
Thank you so much for watching! We typically grab Venom Steel brand nitrile gloves from Lowe’s. We never have a link because the price has changed so many times. Hope this helps fam, GRIDDLE ON!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Ah, good question! I intended to discuss it! This was canola oil, and we have also used veggie oil (even olive oil for that matter)! Hope this helps!🔥🔥
How hot did you keep the griddle? It appeared that the burners were set different. Were some hotter? Love your cooking videos, you make all your recipes so fun!
Thank you so much for watching! I can’t believe we cut that edit out! Yes, my particular griddle cooks over 600 degrees in the middle on high, so I set the knobs to med-med/low so the whole surface is just above 500. This way the oil season layer doesn’t flake off. Hope this helps!💙💙
Great video. I need to do mine also. I have been watching alot of korean street food videos lately. Have you ever thought of doing any? I think it would be a great addition on your channel. You guys are my favorite Blackstone channel.
Mitch! Thank you so much fir your kind words brother! We love Korean cooks, and definitely want to bring more to our channel! Feel free to share any recipes with us, we will definitely try them! Griddle on!!!🤙🏻
That's a great question, if the texture is making food stick, you may want to repair it like we did in this video. If it has no impact on the food, you should be okay to keep cooking on it! Good luck and we hop this helps!
Hey fam! We have in the past, we move quickly so it doesn’t stick - when it sticks a bit, we stop rubbing the oil in, and try to just keep it from pudding up, or work quickly to thin it out. Not sure if it makes sense, but you start to get the hang of it over time!🔥🔥
Greetings from Canada eh! As always, great video. Got a griddle related question for you guys but not sure how to send it to you without it being in the comments section of one of your videos, not that i want it to be private its just a long question and i might need to attach a few pics, how can I go about doing this?
Thank you so much for the step by step video. I just purchased my first blackston grill. I was very intimidated by the cleaning and seasoning process. I’m finding passion to cook in the kitchen and now want to grill outside in the summer heat of Texas haha but because I love cooking for others. ❤
Can anyone tell me how to remove melted plastic from a nylon plastic spatula? The grill got to too hot and melted the spatula while I was removing the grease from the grill. I literally just bought the grill when I did this. I never even thought about using a metal one, because I always used one on my cast iron skillet and never had a problem, until this. Will the pumice stone remove it, or will I have to use a more harsh chemical. I was trying to avoid that for obvious reasons. Please let me know if you can. Thank you
Thank you so much for watching! If kept inside, they last about as long as the bottled from the store - if left out they tend to get rancid after a few weeks (from what we’ve been told).🔥🔥
Thank you so much for watching! The rolled steel of the Blackstone is heavy duty - if you see any scratching, it’s only in the seasoning layer which is totally fine. These things are tanks!
Thank you so much for watching! You can see a big difference - we could see the lighter color of the original cold rolled steel where the seasoning layer had worn off. When it’s a big enough issue and cooking doesn’t get it back with the oils, it was time. Hope this helps!🤙🤙
Thank you so much for watching - I guess once you own one you see, the griddle is separate from the frame and sits with pegs on the frame. You simply lift it off the frame. Most unboxing/build videos show the process which will show that the griddle can simply be placed on, and removed from the frame.
Thank you so much for watching fam! It really depends, when the surface gets uneven, and you can see the seasoning layer pulling up. Hope this helps fam!!🔥🔥
Awesome video guys. I didnt know what I was doing whem i first bought this thing so I had to fix it. I bought this cleaning kit you recommended and followed this video step by step. Thank you so much!!! You got yourselves a new subscriber.

Do you do the scrapping and stone all on a cold griddle and don’t turn on heat till reseasoning step?
Yes. We only turned the heat on to season it after repairing it.😁
why didn't you heat griddle first? is it preference or because it needs repair?
What type of gloves do you use on your griddle. All I can find are way too bulky and awkward. Yours seem to fit well. Can you tell me the brand?

Hey Adam and Brett thanks for another great informative video.

Watching guys😀👍🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Woohoo! Appreciating you as always, Sandy!!!😁❤️🤙🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you so much for the step by step video. I just purchased my first blackston grill. I was very intimidated by the cleaning and seasoning process.
I’m finding passion to cook in the kitchen and now want to grill outside in the summer heat of Texas haha but because I love cooking for others. ❤
Great video. Happy I’m a subscriber. Thank you

Thank you
So sad to see all of the great cook memeries being scraped off...😢
Now it's time to start making some new great cooks...
Griddle on boys!

Good job guys
Thank you brother!🤙🤙🔥🔥

i think i watch evey vid ya,ll put out you make such good food i love watching !
How long does the oils last in the plastic bottles?
Thank you so much for watching! If kept inside, they last about as long as the bottled from the store - if left out they tend to get rancid after a few weeks (from what we’ve been told).🔥🔥
You should use that pumice stone while the grill is still warm.
Mines out on my back deck and its already rusty just for having it for 2 months. Bought a cover for it though
Ya, it doesn’t take long for rust to develop - it’s an easy fix though!🔥🔥
Why use flaxseed oil over any other oil?
Thank you!
Thank you for watching, John! Griddle on!!!🤙🏻
I am not sure if I am cleaning the griddle correctly I’m also scared to scratch surface
Thank you so much for watching! The rolled steel of the Blackstone is heavy duty - if you see any scratching, it’s only in the seasoning layer which is totally fine. These things are tanks!
Thank you!!🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank YOU for watching!!! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙🏻
I need to do mine soon
It’s surprisingly easy, and it works sooooo good!!!! Thank you so much for watching! Griddle on!!!🤙🏻
How do you know when your griddle needs this much cleaning
Thank you so much for watching! You can see a big difference - we could see the lighter color of the original cold rolled steel where the seasoning layer had worn off. When it’s a big enough issue and cooking doesn’t get it back with the oils, it was time. Hope this helps!🤙🤙
Good video thanks
Thank you so much for watching!!
Just snagged the cleaning kit for $15.99 on Amazon
Awesome! It’s a great Kit fam!! 🤙🤙
LOL you guys rock
Woot woot!! Thank you so much fam!!🔥🔥
Why are there no videos on how to remove the griddle from the frame?????
Thank you so much for watching - I guess once you own one you see, the griddle is separate from the frame and sits with pegs on the frame. You simply lift it off the frame. Most unboxing/build videos show the process which will show that the griddle can simply be placed on, and removed from the frame.

Thank you for watching!🔥🔥
You guys are weird always together lol
But you are really good with the Blackstone

Woohoo!!! Congrats brother!!!🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
HOW OFFEN SHUOLD YOU O IT
Thank you so much for watching fam! It really depends, when the surface gets uneven, and you can see the seasoning layer pulling up. Hope this helps fam!!🔥🔥
The cringe 😅
Huh?
