    Very informative review! Great video.
    I recently purchased this on Amazon and waiting for it to come in a week.
    I'm not an audiophile to the extreme, but as long as it sounds great on Bluetooth, I'm absolutely happy using it.

    Read somewhere that it has 3 level filtering and up-samples music to 24 bit. Finally took the plunge and bought one after watching your video. Thanks! :)

    After this review I bought one & I'm very happy with it, thanx! So happy I'm wondering should I bother upgrading in the future.🤔 If so is there anything u would recommend? The Bluesound Node 3 is tempting but it's only abt $300 more.

    Thought I'd treat myself a birthday gift and bought one, man dose it sound good compared to my qed uplay puk Bluetooth receiver which is also aptx. I've only used it for an hour so it needs time to burn in so it should sound even better, midrange is better and low end too it also sounds louder. Yes it's expensive but I have a decent setup but sounding ok with my previous BT receiver I was going to change my amp and speakers which would of cost me hell of alot more. So really spending that much was better for me. You get what you pay for, buy cheap buy twice.

    Great video, could you use this and split the signal or would you need to amplify that signal before splitting it out to self powered studio monitors.

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the B1 straight to monitors if you want.

    Hi, thanks for review. I just got one should I hook it up toslink or rca for best sound quality?

    Hey mate thx for the review.
    I have a question for ya.... i'm planning to install this in my boot of the car powering the unit with a dc to usb conversion (it will be stashed behind the body of the car)... so therefore i wouldn't be able to touch it..... so my question is..... do you need to press the button on the unit everytime u want to use it... or does it automatically power on when a usb power source is plugged in?

    Can I connect this to my AudioEngine A2+ speakers and then play from sound from my Smart TV via Bluetooth?

    thanks for the vid, have you compared the Audiogene B1 with the Bluedento 5.0 apX HD? Im a little torn between the two and if the extra 90$ for the B1 would be justifiable.

    Any idea how this compares with the HomeSpot Bluetooth Receiver V4.2?, this also supports aptx. This unit is in the cheapo department.

    I have the A5+ speakers with the Audio Engine subwoofer and I've had the A5+ since November when I built this high end PC. I got the subwoofer a few months later.
    My question is I JUST bought the Audio Engine Bluetooth Receiver AND the Audio Engine Premium 24 Bit DAC.
    I'm planning on using the bluetooth with my iphone 7 plus when I'm in my room and not on or right by my computer. As far as the DAC goes, how is the setup with the A5+ and the Sub and what not. What goes into where? I will mainly be playing music through iTunes but that doesn't use the APTx codec correct?
    I'm new to all this but pretty excited for it to arrive in a few days to play with and figure it all out. Thanks for the response.

      You just want the DAC to the speakers.. The B1 bluetoother SPDIF out to the DAC's SPDIF in.. Done.

      Thanks for the response, hoping for a noticeable bump in audio quality. This is my first soundcard or DAC purchase.

      I received the Bluetooth receiver today (Saturday) and I'm just now testing it out. I have the cords connected to the A5+. I have the red and white cords coming from the receiver in the two white slots on the back of the A5+.
      My problem now is that when listening to music on the PC everything including the Audio Engine subwoofer works fine. But when listening to music from my phone via accessing the Bluetooth receiver, the subwoofer doesn't produce any sound.
      Please tell me this can be fixed and how.

      Hey Jon. I am trying the exact same setup as you have just without the A5+ i have the A2+. Did you got the setup to work?

    By the way, I don't think you can take phone call with it. When you were checking the Bluetooth settings, it showed you "Media". There was no "Phone" thus it doesn't support the HFL profile. Only A2DP and AVRCP.

    Have you listened to any aptx bluetooth headphones?/ I'm trying to find a decent pair of bluetooth headphones.

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue with bluetooth headphones is not JUST bluetooth and its compression. It is you have to fit the DAC and the AMP inside the bluetooth with the receiver AND THEN it has to be a set of headphones around all that.
      The Zik Parrots [amzn.to/1yOO7PO] are the only bluetooth headphones I have ever heard a good review of. Most likely because they cost the most and put effort into the receiver, dac, amp and headohones.

    i know it been long tome ago, but still: does this thing plays audio directly from everything from phone (aka youtbe, videos etc) or just via additional apps?

    Can I use this in the car? Since it is a DAC and not an Amp, can I connect this (using RCA-to-3.5mm adapter) to the Aux Input of my factory stereo in the car and get decent volumes using the factory amp? Or do I need a separate amp?

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hirodash2112 That would work. You would be feeding the amps in your current headunit with a full signal. You would need a PC tablet or a powered hub /phone to use it.

      Z Reviews Thank you. Yes, I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S2, which doesn't support aptX so it will be defaulting to SBC for now. My next phone (2-3 months) will surely have aptX support.
      Currently, my phone is connected directly to the AUX IN of my factory radio. Unfortunately, my phone is known to have a sub-par DAC so I was hoping the B1 would improve quality and get rid of a wire in the car. It would also remove a criterion when selecting a phone in the future since my music listening from the phone is mainly when driving.
      My initial target DAC was going to be the Sound Blaster E5. However, the Li-Ion battery in it won't play nice with the heat inside the car on hot summer days. Since the B1 doesn't have a battery, I can just throw it in the center console (where my AUX IN and charging port are) and not worry about it.
      Have you thought about reviewing the Sound Blaster E3 or E5?

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If someone sent it to me I would review it. I had to stop endlessly buying things to review. Hopefully the Patreon will help out with that process. You could go with the cheaper FiiO E10K or SMSL M2 and use the line out of one of those to your amp. A D1 is rather expensive to shove inside your dashboard, never to be seen again.

    • @hirodash2112
      @hirodash2112 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Z Reviews Thanks for the suggestions. I must have Bluetooth though and those don't have it. I want the B1's music to shine but I'll make sure to take it out of the car's center console to give it a hug every once in a while.

    The problem I have with this unit is that for a cheaper price you can get a auxiliary to Bluetooth receiver. I am sure there is a good one out there that would stop you from spending the extra $150 for a Bluetooth receiver. Then you could just have the Audioengine D1 with a Bluetooth receiver and it would work perfectly fine for cheaper.

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are paying extra for the DAC audioengine puts in the B1. If the receiver you got had SPDIF output you could hook that to the D1 and get the same benefit. The B1 is just a self contained unit that I use in my main setup in my living room.

      Deke1 It is not overpriced . Run through the analogue outputs I might agree with you, but it should be used through the digital output into a dac and then it sounds amazing. This guy is running it through the analogue outputs and thinks he is hearing the pinnacle of Bluetooth through his Frankenstein ghetto setup. Ha.
