    Very well done video review. As the owner of the same boat for 2 years now (2018 model), I agree with everything you said. It irks me that Mako has had 2 years to fix the livewell design and they haven't done it yet. I took mine to Bass Pro to fix it. They said there was nothing wrong with it. I said there was something wrong. They didn't have a way to put the boat in the water to test it or let me prove to them that there is a problem. The service manager told me to put the boat in gear moving forward before turning on the pump. That doesn't work. Wasted trip to fix something that should be covered under warranty. It's still broke 2 years later.
    I have the 60 horse, a 9" Humminbird Helix Mega side/down scan that I love. Same Minn Kota Terrova that I love. Rarely use my anchor anymore.....YAY! Spot Lock is the bomb. Love the boat and it's stability, hate the livewell.

    I agree with you on the console tray.
    As far as instruments go, they’re not cheap but perfectly available. Such as: water pressure gauge, volts.
    Yes, you can cut an access hole in the deck for fuel tank filling. Did it. I also added a fuel gauge.
    I recommend using clear rollers for your trailer. They are non marring.
    I am also a big fan of “boat buckles” as a replacement to the standard transom tie downs. I’ve used them for years.

    Great review! I have a Pro Skiff 17 and some upgrades that I had done was added a flush mount Nav light, added a flush mount cleat in front of Nav light, Swing bar with rod holders at Capt seat and the one thing I feel ALL south TX boaters should have is a Bimini Top! Just some ideas! Keep them lines tight!

    • @WeGoFishing
      @WeGoFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have definitely thought about the Bimini Top. Have you found that it interferes with fishing? Swing bar sounds like an awesome upgrade. Thanks!

      We Go Fishing If your only fishing 2 people, not at all. It covers the center council and leaves plenty of fishing room on the front and back desks. Real nice to have something to get out of the heat for a little while. I also added 2 rocket launcher style rod holders on the swing bar, game changer for sure.

    Hi… first, thanks for you sharing your experience, very objective and very helpful… since you’re located at South Texas, I guess you spend quite time fishing in-bay, have you regretted not getting the 16 or 17 feet boat instead of the 15’ ? Have the 15’ been enough for your needs?

    • @WeGoFishing
      @WeGoFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man! Thanks for watching! We do inshore fishing, especially the marshes and flats. If you can afford it, the 17 provides a little more space, but it really isn’t that much over all. You don’t net that much more space on the 17. It really depends on how many people you take with you. 2-3 people works fine. Any more than that and it get small quick.

    I have the same live well issue. My fix which still sucks is to keep a 2-3 foot piece of tubing of similar diameter as the output sprayer. Unscrew the nozzle all the way and hold the tubing on the output and blow the water out of the line until you feel/hear it clear. Then it will work. Sometimes I have to do this every time we move and sometimes it still works it’s definitely an issue with these Makos.

    • @WeGoFishing
      @WeGoFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have a couple of options for attaching an anchor. In shallow water, we use a stick pole and it has increased over opportunities dramatically. In deep water, we use the trolling motor on an anchor function. In a pinch, you could use the hook on the front of the boat for an anchor line, but there is no middle cleat for a proper anchor. Put a strap around the gas can so you can pull it out when necessary. Some automotive vinyl or rubber edge molding on the lip of the back deck to keep from scraping you arms when pulling out the gas tank. Bigger wheel at the bow will prevent it from hanging up when launching the boat. Air lock on your livewell fill hose, had the same problem with mine, you can't have any dips or low spots in the hose run from the pump to the livewell that will trap water, kind of like the u-trap on your sink drain. Otherwise, Nice boat, almost bought one, but decided on a bigger boat and different brand.

    @JP-ou8yb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I cant tell entirely by the video but it looks like the aft deck over the gas tank should be lift able to retrieve the gas tank as it is not molded into the hull perhaps you could check underneath for possible releases so it can be lifted, Robalo does the same to their fuel tanks but they are removeable. If it is not moveable perhaps drilling a flush mount fuel filler cap over the tank and attaching with a tube between the 2 would work.

    I have a 2013 MPS 17" and the live bait has always had the vacuum lock problem. They should of had it fixed by now. The bump roller looks to small I would install a larger non marking one it should roll off easier. Also I had a problem with the short guide poles going under the side overhang trim. So I bought a 10' schedule 40 pvc pipe cut in half to have 5 ft poles. I like the ratchet straps i'm gonna get a pair. Awesome review. Really looking at this boat. Issue is garage space with washer and dryer in garage I need to stop at 17ft. I saw Fulton makes a trailer swivel or swing, looks like easy install. I think Mako puts the same trailer on the 15/17/19ft? Curious as I cannot find the info the distance from say propeller to where the front of trailer could potentially swivel, around where you have the spare. Guessing yours is about 21ft as is right now? I hear good things about the fish finder you got, Think I will do the same. We are in skinny water also but just north of Tampa.

    • @WeGoFishing
      @WeGoFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how much the kids weigh. I put my oldest two on the back seated on the rear casting deck. Of course, feet in the boat. My youngest sits with my wife on the front seat or by me on the cooler. It really is about balancing your weight. My kids are small so it doesn't cause a big issue. When they get bigger, we will see :)

    • @ericfazio1166
      @ericfazio1166 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion, I think that if you have several people on the pro skiff 15 (and I don't believe there should ever be more than 2 or three adults on such a craft)... while the craft is underway, children should be seated in the front of the vessel facing the rear. Spacing the weight evenly across the bow. (I wouldn't take any guest that wasn't an adult). To each their own. I only want to make sure that safety precautions are taken and that people do things at their own risk. The difference between a great day on the water and a tragic accident is the vigilance of all on the vessel. Please be careful.
