my wife travels for work. This looks like this will be just what we need to keep watching our stuff together when she is home. As long as the windows app can talk to the mac app ( I tried so hard to get her to buy a pc)
Your wife travels for work then you need a new wife because that one is cheating. Watching movies should be the last thing on your mind fool.

you and the ppl u wanna invite have to have the program, one of you sets up a room with a name and maybe a password then the other ppl type in the name of the room and password if set

it will say that because it's not from a recognised company, it says that with any exe/excitable that it doesn't recognize

Whenever I drag the video to the shared playlist my VLC won't open up the video. I followed all the steps here 😥 anyone who can help? I'm using v1.6.9
dragging & playlists dont work for me i have to click file & add it manually for each new video a little irritating but it reminds me to get up and stretch lol

@@AceOfSerberit well the whole thing about syncplay is that it sync mediaplayers and dosent stream the footage. this way there is no quality loss. if you want to do this you should look at a better option like somekind of getto stream setup or if you wanna do it properly soemthing like your own plex or jellyfin media server.

you know what streaming is right? It's when you transmit video (or Data in general) live from computer to computer. For this you need a good internet connection because the whole movie has to be streamed at Playback-Speed over the internet. The receiving end also needs a good internet connection because it needs to receive the whole movie at playback speed. When the internet gets slower or a bit of data gets lost means that on the receiving end there is quality loss or no picture or weird artifacts. A way to lower that is to transcode (compress) the footage.
Through this you will loose detail (normally not resolution) from the picture because normally you use lossy compression.
This is the reason why people think about doing it the sync play way in the first place because this way you only have to transmit the current time Information. This way people can watch movies together other the internet or you have an easy way to show a movie in multiple rooms.
If you want to stream the movie sync play is just the wrong thing. So either you stream the movie to your friend or you just give your friend the video file beforehand (for exampl. via Cloud, FTP, USB-Stick).

syncplay is not opening
How is the latency? I’ve been trying to find something that will allow my wife and I to watch the same show from different rooms in the house. Like if I had the home theatre PC streaming audio to the Sonos, and used Syncthing on mute. Would the audio and video be off by a lot?

No audio and video is in perfect sync. Syncplay is not synchronising audio and video

im unable to uninstall this, it shows error launching installer.

At first I got VRruntime error and I downloaded C++ runtime. I don’t get the error message anymore, but syncplay just doesn’t open up when I click it. Just loads for 2 seconds and nothing comes up. Any advice?
