DNA , believe me it is all about DNA , many Japanese have a bad skin and many non Japanese have a great skin, this is all about your genes . You might think that eating properly, not drinking , not smoking , sleeping enough, avoiding heavy makeup , helps , but the Maiko wake up at 7am every day sometimes sooner , train all day , eat whenever they get the chance and time to , stay awake at parties every evening until midnight or 1am , and never get to sleep before 2 or 3am . +xXspedXx Geiko/Maiko/Oiran have a lot of special treatments that date back to like the beginnings of Geisha, and a lot of their skin care developed from the natural resources of Japan, like rice (I heard they use boiled, filtered rice water to keep their skin so fair), Adzuki beans for exfoliation, green tea, Camellia flower oil, and in some cases, pure feces from nightingales. Pretty interesting, right?
I absolutely love how she started off by saying that being a maiko is also about thinking of others. She put a completely different spin on a subject I've read and seen so much about... It's very very feel good. Most documentaries or features are about how harsh it is, but she makes you realise what drives these girls into becoming pieces of art themselves, and the dreams they hold. Yes, especially when Kyoto-Ben(dialect) is spoken by girls like this maiko-san. Kyoto-ben with mysterious intonation instantly attracts Japanese men from other areas. It is way cuter than standard Japanese.
Yeah, Geishas have to be educated, witty and entertaining. They also have to embody femininity as well as being an arty type. No wonder why, with all these requirements, they get so easily wise and pleasant.
They are obviously the best marriage material of Japan. They just have it all : beautiful, intelligent, educated, respectful, arty, poiseful, how better could it get.
So she's 16½ yo when this interview made, but her thoughts are already so mature and she clearly knows about her target and will try all her best to achieve it. Let's say this video filmed in the same year it posted which is 2015, so in this year she'll be 21, she might has already become a geiko, I wish her all the best and live a happy and blessed life forever. 🥺♥️ Edit : I wrote this comment 6 months ago, I don't even remember how I counted her age😂 I might didn't notice her words from the self introduction part in the interview, if she has said that she was 18 years old, so it is. I'm really sorry for my wrong information and mistake. 😂
I just found out that she retired before turning into a geiko. Anyway, her decision and desire always go first, again wishing her all the best and having a happy and blessed life she desires. 🥰
@@lovelori-e4n There's no information about the reason of her retirement decision. Could be that she decided to continue her study, get married or change career? We might never know, wish her all the best anyway ^ ^
I love Kyoto so much. I've never seen a video that explains how to wear Maiko-san's hairstyle kimono in detail. That's amazing. It's so pretty and nice.
Each person has their dream in life. These young maikos want to make the best of their efforts. I think they give the world beauty. All my best to all of them!
Genevieve Vavance I hope you do get to go. I've been there four times, and it never gets old. :) If you spend a day in Gion, you might catch a glimpse of a geiko or maiko. In public, they walk incredibly fast, and they're like hummingbirds as they flit from one teahouse to another. It's like watching living history. :) You'll get the best chance of seeing them at around sunset, as they head out to their first dinner appointments. They never stop for pictures, though.
Watch out for fakes though~ Like they said real ones never stop for photos. They are not there to entertain common tourists. If you see them just standing around and happy to take photos they are just dressed up as geisha, some will even attempt to scam you.
Notice Me Genki : I know. Many Asian tourists can enjoy one day Kimono rental shop and walk around. I see many Chinese dressed up in ho-rrible unacceptable way ( maybe they moved too much not knowing how to fix) video-recorded on TH-cam videos. Simply disgraceful. Btw, you can’t ask for real Geisha unless you have a connection/ someone to pay for it should you were impolite to them etc. Look foreign guests info center it might be different 🤔 for like, a lunch hospitality. AND nowadays they never walk the area outside avoiding tourists, they take 🚕 taxi . Good luck.
I literally cried when she said that you should do at least one thing in which you are confident....it was so touching ....this video really broadened my outlook to this section of Japanese culture... Thank you❤

I was lucky enough to spot 2 geiko last night in kyoto they got picked up in a million dollar rolls royce there appearance was majestic and magical probably one of my highlights on my trip so far in japan i would recommend to any one travelling to kyoto to go geisha spotting you will be mesmerised

but math in japanese-language is different
1)japanese-language read 4 numbers together,
instead of reading 3 numbers together like in english-language
www.mlcjapanese.co.jp/n5_01_01.html from google (japan number group 4 digit) result 5
2) fraction 2/3 is being read 3/2
source : '2/3 is read (sa)(n)(bu)(n)(no) (ni) "sanbunno ni'
in www.sf.airnet.ne.jp/~ts/japanese/decimal.html
from google (japanese fraction) result 3

cries in chinese
I know this is like two years old but I agree I wanted to learn it for so long I’m glad my school hasit as a option
Yes, especially when Kyoto-Ben(dialect) is spoken by girls like this maiko-san. Kyoto-ben with mysterious intonation instantly attracts Japanese men from other areas. It is way cuter than standard Japanese.
What beautiful women!! So respectful and lovely😍😍🙌🙌👌👌 THEIR INNER BEAUTY IS REFLECTED IN THEIR OUTER BEAUTY🌸🌸🌸
Yeah, Geishas have to be educated, witty and entertaining. They also have to embody femininity as well as being an arty type. No wonder why, with all these requirements, they get so easily wise and pleasant.
They are obviously the best marriage material of Japan. They just have it all : beautiful, intelligent, educated, respectful, arty, poiseful, how better could it get.
learning about other cultures and traditions is amazing. it seems that every country has a rich and meaningful culture to it and i love to see it
So happy to hear that
So she's 16½ yo when this interview made, but her thoughts are already so mature and she clearly knows about her target and will try all her best to achieve it. Let's say this video filmed in the same year it posted which is 2015, so in this year she'll be 21, she might has already become a geiko, I wish her all the best and live a happy and blessed life forever. 🥺♥️
Edit : I wrote this comment 6 months ago, I don't even remember how I counted her age😂 I might didn't notice her words from the self introduction part in the interview, if she has said that she was 18 years old, so it is. I'm really sorry for my wrong information and mistake. 😂
I just found out that she retired before turning into a geiko. Anyway, her decision and desire always go first, again wishing her all the best and having a happy and blessed life she desires. 🥰
hi, thank you for the information, but im just curious, why did she decide to retire?
@@lovelori-e4n There's no information about the reason of her retirement decision. Could be that she decided to continue her study, get married or change career? We might never know, wish her all the best anyway ^ ^
@@tingyotwinkling2228 Someone said she got married
Didn't she say that she was 18 tho?
Fukunae - san is so beautiful!
Carolina Martinez She really is!!
It already has been six years but I am never tired of watching this video this is just amazing😭✨
Thank you so much 🥰
she is the most beautiful and cute Maiko I have ever seen. really cute girl. man i should meet her when i went to Kyoto 5 years ago.
Trip on Tube She is very charming
She's so pretty like a doll ♡
I love Kyoto so much. I've never seen a video that explains how to wear Maiko-san's hairstyle kimono in detail. That's amazing. It's so pretty and nice.
Each person has their dream in life. These young maikos want to make the best of their efforts. I think they give the world beauty. All my best to all of them!
Maikos and Geikos are fascinating ladies.
I want to go to Kyoto one day, I can't wait Maikos and Geikos are so lovely. I have a lot of respect for these ladies
Revina Que you just got me excited all over again 😀
Watch out for fakes though~
Like they said real ones never stop for photos.
Good luck.
Since I am a little child I adore geishas. I love Japan and Japan´s culture!
I literally cried when she said that you should do at least one thing in which you are confident....it was so touching ....this video really broadened my outlook to this section of Japanese culture...
Thank you❤
I was deeply touched. Kyoto has become my favorite city in the world. Every time I go to Kyoto I find something shockingly beautiful.
This is absolutely lovely. Hearing this young woman talk about her experiences and aspirations is so inspiring, plus she really is so beautiful! I love how devoted she is to the traditional arts of the geiko; I found it adorable how she talked about her love and admiration for art. I wish her the best of luck in her life. She's going to go a long ways!
I'm crying, Fukunae is now retired, she was my favorite maiko :'(
why did she retire?
what? why?
it wasn't told to public but most likely she wanted to start other carreer or just wanted to go to University
She retired because is now married.
Wow, to think she's only 20 right now.
I'd be that crying tourist. These women are incredible works of history, art, beauty, skill and talent.
I did an intense study about maiko and geiko in Japanese culture. I read every book and autobiography i could get my hands on. This is one of my favorite parts of Japanese culture. What these women represent in Japanese society is absolutely amazing. They truely are "walking art". This is why im going to Kyoto and will spend lots of time there. Hope to meet you Fukunae san!
Dan 暖 Conover wow amazing
Dan 暖 Conover Wow that is very impressive. We hope you come to Kyoto and meet some maiko and geiko in person. :)
Is Kyoto only the place for the maiko and geiko to be in there? (Im curious and wanna go to Japan someday 😊)
Faradina Oktavindra Tokyo, Osaka and Nara have them
So beautiful. She's eighteen and has found out something I still struggle with: going straight at the one thing I want. I want so many things and I try to make them all come true at the same time, and I can get none of them done.
Can't wait to visit Kyoto.
Such a beautiful tradition, the way they walk is just so elegant. She is really pretty and talented, a true artist!
I was lucky enough to spot 2 geiko last night in kyoto they got picked up in a million dollar rolls royce there appearance was majestic and magical probably one of my highlights on my trip so far in japan i would recommend to any one travelling to kyoto to go geisha spotting you will be mesmerised
did you see Geiko or Maiko? Geiko's & Maiko's kimono color scheme and hair dressing pieces are different.
it was definitely a Geiko Alex.W they didn't have any decorations in the hair Maikos have accessories in the hair and plus its there real hair
Hamish tin lucky you! I saw Maiko more often when I was in Kyoto.
omg i love her 😭 the way she talks sounds so smooth and kind.
It was like unintentional ASMR the whole time she was speaking. I need to add this to a relaxation playlist.
She just freaking gorgeous, im in love the way she talked, moved, and walked everything she do is beautiful
This is the type of happiness I want to see. Just genuine, caring, elegant happiness. She is proud of herself and has confidence.
"a person should have one thing they can do with confidence." This is the first time in my life I've heard this and it really got me thinking if I am just living or just existing.
Love when young Japanese want to keep old traditions alive. Makes me so happy 🇯🇵
Geikos have this air about them..... incredible. I got to spend three weeks taking photos in miyagawacho this year. phenomenal. every day was bliss.
I'm Vietnamese and I am sure that at the moment when I go to Kyoto and see all beautiful things there, I will cry so hard... Because I have been waiting for that day for soooo long!
fukunae-san and kofuku-san are both such beautiful girls inside and out!! devoting yourself to seeing other people happy is such a beautiful trait to have!! i wish them both the best as they continue to work hard!
I legitly cried when she spoke about the lady who came overseas, I literally could be that lady. Loving Japan and their culture is a calling from the soul.
I am touched by her last sentence. Gives all our might, passion and effort to the path that we choose 🥺😭❤🙏
What a beautiful and wise young lady. I thoroughly enjoyed this video ^_^
Wow, that made me tear up a little bit. That's so amazing and requires such love for what they do. I'm awed by the grace they bring and the beautiful experiences they can give other people.
I love tradition of japan. Thank you very much for uploading this.
It was beautiful
