I did the crackle finish by accident when I was working at a hobby shop in the RC car dept. I did custom paint work for customers. Anyways, I laid down a base of basic black then two coats of yellow and red. Well turns out I mixed fuel proof paint and regular paints and after it dried I was so disappointed at what had happened but it was done. So I took it to work to give it to the guy and he was over the moon with what I'd done. The paints didn't mix well and the black paint cracked and the yellow and red mixed together and it lookd like a lava flow. It was wild. I thought I ruined it but he loved it. That was many, MANY years ago. Sorry for the long read 😐
That paint you used @5:27 - when it came out in the 1990's, we use to call it "Flip-Flop" paint. Cool effect with it. - In the 1990's, it wasn't in a spray can though. That was only achieved through a professional automotive paint store. Nice to see that, over time, painting became much more easier.
@@MonsterHobbiesModelCarGarage I had a 3000GT painted in this color which in my opinion is the only car worthy of the paint LMAO. It's just got so many curves.

Hey Tayler, I thought the Montana Crackle worked best when the base paint was still wet. Try it that way, you’ll be amazed with the results!!! I sprayed it on fresh Montana Gold and Montana Black paint and the results were amazing.
The marble effect was much like spray adhesive! I'm not sure if the effect is from the tip or the formulation. May be something to try the marble tip on another can? I've been wanting to experiment with different crackle colors. I love the way you just try anything and anyway of applying the paint. Might not give the desired effect, but it totally helps you discover something that you never knew existed! I'll be looking into these. 😃👍
Yeah, the shadowing and the marbling were my favorites. And what you said about those being money savers... No because I didn't have those before and now I'm going to have to go out and buy them because I want them so.... um... Yeah...
This was so much fun, your joy and excitement makes me feel like I'm playing with the cans myself! I once used one of those "Holographic" clear coat paints on a lawnmower I was reconditioning for a friend's mom once. Cool but also sad. I painted motorcycle tank and fenders once, it ended up in flames on the side of the road. Some said the paint job was "too lit"🤣 Also, be careful what you put spray coats on top of, they'll make sharpies and other stuff run/bleed/dissolve
