They never responded to me regarding my questions and any email they sent to me was not an email that I could even respond back to. I am completely done with Wyze.
Wyze really needs to develop a mount for no-drill vinyl sliding. We literally have no place on our house that isn't covered by vinyl siding or a false stone siding, and my options are limited to drilling or velcro/taping the camera into place. There are secondary market camera vinyl siding hooks available, but the screw sizes are all meant for other cameras. I mentioned this to one of the developers of those products, and they said they'd look into a similar product for Wyze. Wyze should probably look into creating vinyl siding mounts before the secondary markets do, otherwise they're just leaving money on the table.
At this point, I'm glad it is easily removed as if I want to use it, I have to get up on my ladder in full view of passing foot and car traffic to remove the POS camera to recharge it, every other day. Mine will not hold a charge.
I have my regular Wyze cams outside and they connect to the WiFi no problem. They are covered from rain and I just use a really long power wire and run it inside. My outdoor power outlets don’t work or I’d just use those. I’ve had one at my front door for years anyone could take it but nobody has because I have 3 others inside facing the front of the house so they can see they would be caught on the other indoor cameras. On a side note about my indoor cams I am not happy with the sound recording quality. It is very hard to hear what people are saying most of the time. I also notice that the time I want to see the footage the most is always glitching and distorted. It skips frames and I can’t hear what they said. I have nurses in my house for my non-verbal disabled child and want to be able to see and hear them whenever so I can make sure he’s not being abused.

I dont know if you changed company since its been 2 years from your comment but I had a problem and changed my wifi name to something smaller. also helps to connect to a 2.4ghzwifi and not the 5ghz.
Base Station can be either one .... it is a challenge to find a location that the base station has coverage for all four of my camera's (the limit of the outdoor base) ... the internal battery is handy if you don't want to run wires but outdoor model also does not do continuous recording even with a SD card ... it is purely so if it has spotty wifi connection it will store it to its card ... I have a SD card in my base station as well but again for the OUTDOOR camera unless you get the PLUS subscription it is not as handy with only 12 seconds of recording and the cooldown... you can buy solar panels with an internal battery so your outdoor camera can be mounted in creative places as long as you can also keep your base station in range... with wifi boosters so handy the 'non-outdoor' is much easier to ensure you have a solid wifi signal and don't depend on a basestation and just require access to power - but some folks 'really' don't want to do that so you are stuck...
WYZE I have a question. On your video it shows her mounting the camera upside down. But you do not recommend it to be mounted upside down. Why the counter diction?
She put the ceiling camera on upside-down. In an actual setup, doing this will trigger a lot of false motion alerts and potentially ignore real ones, since the PIR sensor would be pointing towards the sky. When mounting on the ceiling, stick the magnet to the top of the camera.
@@mhaas281 Read my original comment. Of course you can rotate the image in software, but the software can't change the position or direction of the PIR sensor that triggers the camera. If you put it upside down, the PIR sensor will be pointed upward.
After my station is up and running again the base station would not connect to my wifi even though I waited over 20 minutes. I am a firmware engineer so I know how to setup this device correctly and use to fowllow instructions very carefully. The instructions may be confusing but it was clear to me. Unfortunately, I try to configure the replace base station but I got the same blinking blue light.
I have a question, I want to have this camera for my room but on the wall for my 3 years daughter. My question is do we have to take the camera down again and again to charge it? how does the wire will reach to the roof or wall? Also can we stick it without drilling because landlord does not allow it here
Hi there! To charge your Wyze Cam Outdoor, you would have to take the camera down if it's placed indoors. You can take the bulk of the camera off the mount and charge it next to your hub. Also, mounting this camera requires you to drill holes into your wall if you're placing it sideways.
I bought 2 cam pan's and 3 indoor v2's. You should create a video about how the notification options and setup of notifications work. I have been spending a lot of time searching youtube, and your help area; and I am unsure why I am not getting any notifications even though I have it turned on. Do I have to have an SD card on all these cameras? I have the trial live streaming cloud feature running, but all this is more confusing that I expected. I set up the ring doorbell for my daughter and it worked awesome. Started sending image alerts to her phone automatically. But I like the price of your system better. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hey there! There are a lot of parts to address here, so I'll break them down to make sure I'm answering as many as possible! Make sure that your phone settings are allowing the Wyze app to send notifications -- if the other settings are proper (e.g. you are able to see Events populating in the app and the notification settings are enabled for the devices) this tends to be a source of trouble overlooked by some! You don't need to have microSD cards in any of the cameras -- although it does allow you to reference features like Playback or record Time-lapse footage. If you have any questions or would like more assistance with troubleshooting, please reach out to our customer support team at: support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Completely thrilled with my Wyze cams. Great wide lens view without distortion. I had no problems installing what so ever, very simple instructions. Great job to the Wyze guys!!
Everything I have read says to attach the base to the top of the camera for cieling mount application. In this video it is set up that way before the base is mounted but when attaching to base at the end the camera is attached via the bottom. Is that an error in the video?
Came here for the same thing. If you do a ceiling mount and rotate the image 180⁰ in settings you get a warning that the whole camera must be flipped, but no instructions on how to do so. This video completely skips that. 🙄
Not the same, Cam v3 is much better in specs & features. The outdoor cam requires a base station, none of the other camera do. If you can wire power to a camera or use the Wyze outdoor power adapter, the best bet is to use Cam v3 as your outdoor camera. You have to make sure your Wi-Fi is strong enough to reach it, if not, that's is easily fixed by adding a hub/extender. Not to mention the more secure mounting options for Cam v3 as seen here: th-cam.com/video/MbdM0adQQeA/w-d-xo.html.
The V3 outdoor camera has tons of known issues. So they added a firmware update which you must use to enable CamPlus. --> Important: Update your Wyze app to 2.22 by July 21, 2021. Sadly this disables the use of CamPlus, so all you get is 12second videos. This error is a "Known Issue", this is just terrible software. New firmware is in process.
I am moving I to an RV and need a battery camera and will not have a router. I have a router in my apartment currently though. Once I set it up at my apartment, can I use the cam for continuous SD only recording in my RV?

Just bought two v3 Pros. How come there's no explanation of how to use the magnet that comes with it? I'm assuming it goes with the sticker and is used if I don't want to (or can't) drill into the spot where I want to mount it? And I had to buy two USB extenders because the six-foot cords that come with them are useless as I'm putting them in corners of rooms and they don't even come close to reaching the nearest outlet.

I apologize for the delayed response. You do require a base station to connect the Wyze Cam Outdoor to, the base station can handle up to 4 Wyze Cam Outdoor.
Just got a Wyze outdoor system and have no instructions on the tech side, like do you need a sdcard for the base and the camera or is it just good enough on the camera, or should I buy one for the base also? And the motion detection only works when it’s right in front of the camera, no matter where it’s placed
It's garbage and you will not receive any assistance from the company. Send it back to them immediately, get your money back and look for another company to purchase a better product!
So, this camera can not be set up on a shared wifi system like my other wyze cameras??? I do not have the base station and no access to the apartments shared router. This sucks.
Is this wireless..? In the video they just installed without power cord.. Connection...But online everywhere they say that it doesn't come wireless. I am confused....Can someone explain and share wireless product of this link plz....
The v3 does not need a base station. The reason the Wyze Cam Outdoor requires a base station is to save battery life by having the bast station do most of the work.
Cant wait till WYZE gets involved in robotic telepresence...where I can ups/ship the unit any where there is data .. Turn it on drive it around virtually and see sites, museums, attractions, or family members homes.
Be prepared to be more frustrated than you ever have been before. It is a horrible product. I see that I'm not the only one experiencing about a 24 hour hold to the charge. The box brags that it will stay charged for 6 months!
My Wyze v3 has destroyed 3 SD cards. The first two were bought directly from Wyze. The last one was a Samsung performance card for security cameras. After they’ve filled up, they stop recording and if I attempt to erase or format the card from within the Wyze app, it stops recognizing the card. After that the card isn’t recognized by my PC either. Attempting to open it on my Windows 10 PC makes file explorer crash, and any SD app also crashes. No idea what the cam is doing to these cards. I’ve gotten zero response from Wyze.
Well, I just got mine last week and I'm not happy with it at all. Horrible latency no matter how close I put it near the base. (up to 50 seconds sometimes) The battery runs out after 24 hours. A little longer if I use the lowest video quality & no night vision.
I am having the same problem with it holding a charge. It can work for 2 nights, making certain that I turn it off in the daylight hours. I don't even know how to set it to the lowest video quality and no night vision. For me, this product is garbage and they seem to have no desire to help.
@Team Beer Not sure what kind of Ring Cam you have but it works much better than the Outdoor Wyze cam & I have several cameras from both companies. I have the Ring Floodlights/Doorbell and it SMOKES all of my wyze cameras, (regular & outdoor) although much more expensive. If you toss yours out, send it to me.👍🏼
@@frankm2385 I have Ring, Wyze and Momentum. Got hooked on the original Wyze indoor so I bought 3 Wyze Outdoor cams and you’re right. Ring is better. The installation of the Wyze outdoor cam is a lesson in frustration with those tiny, weak screws.

Looks you could run the base station through a UPS and still record footage from the outdoor cams during a power outage. Hopefully they went with a common 12v DC power supply.
As of October 14 2021 cant even buy an outdoor cam stand alone have to buy with a base station which if you already have one is a double purchase or worse. Wyze is making LOUD SUCKING noises these days.

Sorry for the confusion! While it doesn't utilize the Playback feature like other Wyze Cams, you can still record for extended periods of time using Scheduled Recording with a MicroSD card. This feature allows you to record for up to 10 consecutive hours. These recordings get saved to your Wyze Cam Outdoor's Album instead of playback. You can do this by tapping "More" on the live stream page and then Scheduled Recording.

A MicroSD card in your Wyze Base Station lets you back up Event recordings from Wyze Cam Outdoor to the base station. It scans the QR code, jumps on my wifi, and a few seconds later tells me "Connection timed out, re-scan QR code" and then drops off my wifi network. I went against everything I know by installing your app and creating an account (grrrr....) and now this. How do I convince your camera that its on my network and DOESN'T need to talk to whatever host its trying to talk to?

So the camera charges fully (solid red light while plugged in), I put it within 6 feet of the base station, turn it on (yellow light, initializing) and... nothing, no blue flashing light. Plugg it back in and red flashing light again - even though a minute earlier it was 'fully charged' based on the instructions.
To better secure your Wyze Cam Outdoor, we'd suggest mounting your camera at a height that is not easily assessable without the assistance of a ladder.
Outdoor camera failed after less than 1 year. Notified WYZE & they have sent me a new unit. We shall see how long this one lasts, but cannot complain about customer service.
Yes, plug it in until the light on the back stops flashing. Battery life depends on use/times "tripped". I know our RING batteries were rated for 6 months use but, when people are always coming & going, it didn't last a month. Extreme heat & cold can affect the duration too so, don't put it in an unhandy location, or keep your ladder handy.
It should arrive with a partially charged battery -- we'd recommend plugging it in to charge to 100%! If you turn the camera off and plug it in, it should take around 4 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. the battery life will vary depending on your environment and how frequently Events/recordings are triggered. In general, roughly 1 hour of recorded footage will consume 10% of the battery life.

The lady in the demonstration might not have known and made a mistake. In reality you should stick the magnetic base to the top of the camera.
@@micahnightwolf This is an instructional video by Wyze. She was instructed by them of the process.
She put the ceiling camera on upside-down. In an actual setup, doing this will trigger a lot of false motion alerts and potentially ignore real ones, since the PIR sensor would be pointing towards the sky. When mounting on the ceiling, stick the magnet to the top of the camera.
Wrong, You can rotate the image in the software, so it will not be upside down.
Really hope that you guys start shipping to Canada soon.
You can find wyze products on your local Petstore
amazon.ca has them.
Buyer beware! They are for more trouble than they are worth. Horrible product.
I noticed its not a hard wired camera so it uses a battery. My question is can it also be wired? Also is the battery replaceable

Completely thrilled with my Wyze cams. Great wide lens view without distortion. I had no problems installing what so ever, very simple instructions. Great job to the Wyze guys!!
Did your cam come with instructions and everything you needed for set up? I bought a V3 in Dec and cant use it yet. Thanks Sarah.
Did you have to have a license electrician to wire up the wires?
Everything I have read says to attach the base to the top of the camera for cieling mount application. In this video it is set up that way before the base is mounted but when attaching to base at the end the camera is attached via the bottom. Is that an error in the video?
Came here for the same thing. If you do a ceiling mount and rotate the image 180⁰ in settings you get a warning that the whole camera must be flipped, but no instructions on how to do so. This video completely skips that. 🙄
A lot of people use alum/vinyl siding. How about some instructions for installing the camera on that?
Is WyzeCam Outdoor the same as Cam V3? Do you have to have a base station?
Yes. The camera will function in "Travel Mode" with a microSD card for continuous recording without an Internet connection.
By chance are they shipping before Aug 1st?

how long does it take to charge and how long does it take before you have to recharge it?
i would like to know the same
3-4 hours to charge. And the battery lasts 3-6 months on normal use
It seems to charge fairly quickly and then mine holds a charge for less than 24 hours. It's garbage
@@irlixi2722 I would really love to know how it is you get yours to stay charged for 3-6 months. Mine only stays charged for just under 24 hours. I am so frustrated and there is literally no customer support. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am about to report the company to the BBB.
Which way should the camera switch be to enable charging? So far, not impressed with this camera.
What's the average expected battery life without sunlight?
How far from the base station can the camera be installed? Thanks

Do I have to purchase the base station?? I need to known ASAP if you don't mind. Thank you.
I apologize for the delayed response. You do require a base station to connect the Wyze Cam Outdoor to, the base station can handle up to 4 Wyze Cam Outdoor.
@@wyze how much is the base station?
Just got a Wyze outdoor system and have no instructions on the tech side, like do you need a sdcard for the base and the camera or is it just good enough on the camera, or should I buy one for the base also? So, this camera can not be set up on a shared wifi system like my other wyze cameras???

The Wyze Cam v3 does not require a base station.
Wyze Cam Outdoor Works With Alexa And Works With Wasserstein’s Solar Panel And Wyze Cam Outdoor Come With Wyze Base Station?
Does the v3 plug in need a base station?
Why is the base station needed for this camera ??
The v3 does not need a base station. The reason the Wyze Cam Outdoor requires a base station is to save battery life by having the bast station do most of the work.
Cant wait till WYZE gets involved in robotic telepresence...where I can ups/ship the unit any where there is data ..
Turn it on drive it around virtually and see sites, museums, attractions, or family members homes.
You cannot control the motion zones if it is mounted upside down and the rotated 180°.
You can
I'm so excited!! Been waiting for an outdoor cam for so long!!
Artist Jennette Brown hi

I have a wyze camera and it stays with the yellow light on how can I fix it to work
I have the same problem, it's a new indoor cam, tried to add it and the light stays yellow.
Forget it, it will never work. It's garbage
Its been sold out pls manufacture more outdoor cams and include some solar panel and i will throw away my ring and arlo cams into the trash.
I think you will be able to buy more in September or late August
@D Smith How did they disable it if they're telling you in the video to charge it before you mount it?

How powerful is the base station? I need camera in front and back of the house. Already have wyze indoors.
It is surprisingly efficient (60 FT range aprox).
Have an outdoor cam. Battery life is 3 weeks NOT 3 months as suggested. Have the infrared lights turned off. If you have this cam., be sure it can be easily removed for recharging.
Might just be where you placed it.
@@superioremerald4352 Afraid not. It lives in the house 2 feet from the base & the router. Infrared is off. Temperature is stable .( In the house in Florida).
Wasn’t just a one time thing. Has been running since Aug. and needs recharge every 3 weeks. No response from Wyze
Mine only stays charged for 2 nights worth of recording. And no customer support to help me. I have been begging them to help me.
Looks you could run the base station through a UPS and still record footage from the outdoor cams during a power outage. Hopefully they went with a common 12v DC power supply.
Looks like it's 12V DC, 1.0A. That'll run for quite some time on most of 12V DC UPS's. Awesome.
Can the power brick that comes with the Wyze Cam 2, (5V) 1000mA, be changed to a power brick (5V) 2.4 amp ?
Can’t wait til they arrive
how do you charge it ? do I have to take the camera off the mount everrytime is dead or I can plug it into an extension?
Hard wire it with a Wyze wall outlet adapter, or take it off and charge it with the USB adapter to the base station.
What type of router is that one you're using?
As of October 14 2021 cant even buy an outdoor cam stand alone have to buy with a base station which if you already have one is a double purchase or worse. Wyze is making LOUD SUCKING noises these days.
Plugging the base station into a router instead of a completely wireless is a fail for me.

Nope, anyone can walk to it and grab it.

@@wyze can you explain to me why I bought an SD card for my base station? What’s it used for?
Your whole system is a scam, after I bought my cameras you changed all the rules. I hope some lawyer files a class action against you. I’d join in a heartbeat.
A MicroSD card in your Wyze Base Station lets you back up Event recordings from Wyze Cam Outdoor to the base station. These are the same recordings that are stored in the cloud, but the MicroSD serves as an additional, physical backup. Hope that helps! As far as I'm concerned, Wyze is a garbage company. The product does not perform as it is supposed to and if you need help, they WILL NOT HELP YOU. Take it form me who is just asking them to help me how to get my camera to stay charged for what they purport it to stay charged for 3-6 months. Mine only holds a charge for less than 24 hours. If i wanted it to work every night, i need to be in full view of foot traffic and drivers passing by, to remove and replace the camera every other day. Right now, it's in the front of my house and not working. Up and down on the ladder every other day is not sustainable and the company will not even get back to me as I plead with them for help.I check every day to see if anyone has stolen it, because it will work just as well for me if it's stolen as it works for me now. NOT AT ALL.

Hello and great question! With normal use, the Wyze Cam Outdoor's rechargeable battery should last 3-6 months before recharging. 😀
What domain name and/or network do I need to not block in order for this camera to complete set up? It scans the QR code, jumps on my wifi, and a few seconds later tells me "Connection timed out, re-scan QR code" and then drops off my wifi network. My firewall blocks all hosts outside the US to prevent new chicom devices from phoning home. Is this camera trying to phone home? I went against everything I know by installing your app and creating an account (grrrr....) and now this. How do I convince your camera that its on my network and DOESN'T need to talk to whatever host its trying to talk to?
You can't. Sounds like you need a CCTV setup or a DIY camera & self-contained network setup.
Is it wireless? I thought it was wired. Excuse my ignorance. I've never put up one before.
Outdoor v2 is wireless. Wired is Cam v3.
Does the drillbit size also apply to the Wyze cam V3

So the camera charges fully (solid red light while plugged in), I put it within 6 feet of the base station, turn it on (yellow light, initializing) and... nothing, no blue flashing light. Plugg it back in and red flashing light again - even though a minute earlier it was 'fully charged' based on the instructions.
Isn't easy for the camera to get stolen if it's just attached to the base by a magnet?
To better secure your Wyze Cam Outdoor, we'd suggest mounting your camera at a height that is not easily assessable without the assistance of a ladder.
I was looking to get a camera but it looks really easy to steal when it shows in the video unmounting the camera from the plate

So this camera has to be hard wired in order to keep it charged and going?

Is wyze cam outdoor compatible with Alexa show?
no
My current problem is not having a spare Ethernet port and nearby power source at the same place. Plus no additional ethernet ports in the home.
Super easy to get an adapter or a switch and solve that problem.
How long is the ethernet cable?
I just got my outside cam, Do you have to charged it and for how long?? And how long will it last outside (Battery)???
