grandes recuerdos de antaño..!!. La primera no fuè con "motor mercedes benz". La primera de este modelo era motorizada con motor DKW.. 3 cilindros de 2 tiempos.. un verdadero nido de averias... y un consumo.... espectacular.. Hablando en plata.... un autentico desastre!!!
Muy interesante la forma de aquella epoca era muy diferente y simpatico .

It seems to have inherited the very low floor of the Schnellaster: an excellent feature. Very frustrating that no true low-floor vans are available today.

Is that the factory engine or a swap? normally all the DKW family use the 3 Cylinder 2 stroke engines. Great restoration!
Built by IMOSA in Vitoria, Spain, this DKW/Auto Union was less a successor to the F89 and more a version of the Mercedes-Benz N1300. It therefore used the Mercedes-Benz OM636 four-cylinder diesel.
This model with Mercedes Diesel engine was very common in Spain. Finally Mercedes Benz bougth the Vitoria factory and rebranded the van as Mercedes. Today they still build there the Mercedes Vito.
Audi don't make vans anymore nowadays ? This looks FWD to me ? Interesting to note this Audi van produced in Vitoria in Spain..some history there indeed, perhaps that's why the new generation of light Mercedes-Benz vans the Vito are produced in Spain nowadays ?

This part was sold off before VW bought the DKW production plant in Ingolstadt off Mercedes (with the intention to manufacture the beetle there!), and resurrected the Audi name (yes resurrected, the original "Audi" company was discontinued after WW II) to sell the latest DKW model now with a Mercedes-designed 4 stroke engine under the bonnet. It's FWD indeed and a direct spinoff of the original DKW van. A few iterations later, the MB 80D/100D became the first van to be sold all over Europe officially under the Mercedes brand.
Yes. This van was made at the same Vitoria factory where now the Vito is built.

Es de mi abuelo y por motivos nostálgicos me gustaría empezar a restaurarla,este es el primer movimiento que comienzo a mover,ponerme en contacto con personas que tengan y han restaurado una.
Que tal está el tema de repuestos de este tipo de vehículo,en general chapa motor repuestos en general,agradecería una respuesta por tu parte,muchas gracias y perdona si te e molestado,un saludo desde el Prat del llobregat .

Rare?? Barcelona plate... Just take an afternoon driving through fields in the countryside and you'll easily see some of these rusting away, used as "cottages" to keep tools... Or still in use, those old MB engines are still running out of highways and city traffic.
riejurv50 Well... I live here, and spend virtually EVERY afternoon driving through the countryside, and these vans are now rare as hell. Particularly on the roads.
I don't live far away neither, and know of a few of them abandoned in the countryside rusting away, plus a few more still working for country uses... In little villages from Tarragona and Lleida this vans can sometimes be seen with not much effort. My grandad had one just like yours in his vineyard until it went to the junkyard, not far away from there, there's an extremely rusted one with a taller top from an abandoned marble store, and I know of another one being an old man's daily driver in another village about 8km from mine, and well, of course you don't see them everyday at every corner but, you still see them... In the countryside this vans, same as old Ebro vans, and the very similar later Mercedes vans, Dyane400, 4Lf6 or 4, LandRovers, etc... Are still being kept for country work as they're still fine for that. Even the butane gas is sometimes delievered in a D65 Ebro that comes from Valls every single day.

That's not the same, they're old beaten machines, or still doing their job, kind of beaten as well of course, as that was their pourpose, built to work. What might be rare is the good condition of yours, that's obviously right but.. It doesn't mean it is rare... Maybe if it was the older 2 stroke one... You'll easily find nice and cheap ones for sale online in need of very few restoration.
