- Richard Hartman was the first to 300 mph 1/4 hit, with a 304.53 mph blast early on Saturday. Hartman is also heading home as the quickest AA/Fuel Altered in history with a 4.920 elapsed time and was the first in the 4's!
It sure is great to see quarter mile records being set! I really miss quarter mile racing. Hey NHRA take note! How about doing something about it.

What's the set up for this class? Is it the exact same as it was during their time back in the day or it's that with some modern improvements to it?

Lots of self appointed know-it-alls in here.....geezus....first off, this IS a world record run for the AA/FA class and it IS a full quarter mile; it's NOT an all-time record run for the 1/4 which is currently held by Tony Schumacher in a AA/Fuel dragster at 4.42 seconds - and it's not being presented as such. Indeed, there's a lot of AA/Funny Car in this ride but there are significant differences other than the body, primarily having to do with aerodynamics. An AA/FA is a comparative brick compared to an AA/FC. 304 is a hell of a pass; AA/FCs routinely exceed 330mph at 1000 feet. The difference is in the aero and the corresponding tune. You naysayers need to sign out and go watch a Kardashian wedding; actual racers are having a discussion. One more thing - a drag racing pass with an elapsed time of 4.00-4.99 seconds is addressed as a 'four second pass'. If it were 4.00 it would be referred to as four-FLAT. Hope that clears a few things up...

@@garyjohns4711 4.9 IS a "4 second pass" in the same way 8.05, 8.5 and 8.85 are ALL "8 second passes" - it's part of the Naming Convention that Drag Racing has used Worldwide for decades.

NOT a World Record in the 1/4 Mile. They do not run an Honest 1/4 Mile anymore. Thanks to the NHRA and the whining of several top teams who argued about ware and tare on their equipment running a true 1/4 mile. That's where they lost me and several of my real racing Buddies.

Sounds like you and your “Real” racing buddies maybe need to go out to a NHRA event. Only two classes don’t run 1/4 mile. A Fuel dragsters are running 5.09 and that’s with out a blower. I imagine you already knew that being a real racer and all.
