Those glorious fuel altered race cars vary much a part of my American history, and of races , thank youfr🎉the vlogs glorious machines lolthanks BigAl California praise Jesus Christ grace amen amen 🙏
If I am not mistaken that is Beech Bend park in Bowling Green Kentucky. It is quite the experience to be sitting in covered bleachers when those things launch! The whole structure shakes!!😊
Love the fuel altereds, Used to watch them at the old Irwindale racetrack in Southern California. Guys like Wild Willie Bourch, Pure Hell, Nanook, Pure Heaven, and lots of others. These are newer versions of course
My next door neighbor owned Pure Heaven ,I was part of the crew .One time at Irwindale we were racing Willie Borsch and we were pushing down to start when Willie veered over into the guard rail,he had that sleeping disorder narcolepsy, well that woke him up and he went ahead and ran the race.i don’t remember who won but I do remember the the in n out burgers in the pits,it was Harry the man who started in n out that flipping the burgers at tha t time
Watched one of these literally bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce down the track in Texas years ago. The announcer said the driver was definitely going to need a new, clean pair of drawers. There's a reason they don't run stuff like this anymore.
Lived in Columbia Pa. all of my life...this is the home of CHARLIE HILL!! I watched him and Plamer build the BAD HABIT AA/FA the fasted Altered on the east coast. Can anyone tell what happened to that car??
When I was a teenager back in the early ‘70’s I had a poster on my bedroom wall above my bed of a AA/FA doing a big fire burnout. For those that don’t remember this now (rightfully) outlawed practice it involved pouring fuel under the slicks and lighting it when the car did its burnout. Instead of smoke off the rear tires this resulted in huge flames being shot up into the air. Coolest looking thing ever!
Whoever was the first person to say, "I think a 40's Fiat would make an awesome drag car," should be in the hall of fame. Probably got some strange looks from friends at first. Look them up in image.
Unfortunately these are the new school longer wheel base altereds, not the short wheel base hand fulls that Wild Willie and the boys drove back in the '60's.
I hear you....most are but some are pretty period correct but I know where your coming from as that same scenario holds true to nostalgia funny car and top fuel....that's not what was represented in the early nostalgia movement.....don't you just laugh at what a burnout is in our world vrs. the modern world defintion
Great watch thanks .
Rat trap and the Bradford's Topolino kindly made an appearance in the uk a few years back , great memories.
Randy Bradford has been in the UK with his Bradford’s ! Been seeing him and the car running at Santa pod for the last year or two I’d say now!
@eliotruben3442 Was here this year and had some match races against the iconic Havoc altered.

Yes it is. I love going down there. I also love that you can be down by the fence and that you can walk around in the pits
Been there,worked it.
100% PURE dedicated drag machines indeed ! AA/FA and ProMod have always been my favorite classes.
Wonderful sounds!
I like the nasty short wheelbased fuel altereds. Very cool.
Coolest part of NITRO ( imo ) Thanx for this !!

I could get to and from the grocery store before the iced cream thought about melting .
Great stuff!! Looks like the cars are built around the driver!! Enjoyed it a bunch!!!!!!!!
I remember double engine dragster at Double Eagle drag strip in SanAntonio Texas. 😅

They do run this stuff still though.

❤❤❤😊
So what do you say about 50 year old technology on the engines I don't know about the clutch setups
Unfortunately these are the new school longer wheel base altereds, not the short wheel base hand fulls that Wild Willie and the boys drove back in the '60's.
I disagree these are pretty close to the original

Sure do miss the breather masks
Hemi with the distributor in the back? BBC with Hemi heads?
Early Hemis (331, 352 & 392)had the distributor in the rear. It moved to the front with the 426.
