Because of your videos I went to my local John Deere dealer and ordered me a 2020, 1025r TLB with a 54 inch mower deck and 12 in posthole digger. I can’t wait for it to come in and to start all the projects you do. My girlfriend just perched 34 archers and I have 2 archers and I hope this is enough tractor to do the jobs I have ahead of me lol but from your videos I think I found the right brand of tractor!!!!
You guys really have found a good niche with the jobs you do. I wish we had someone like you around here. Working with your customers a lot of the time, it’s a perfect set up.
Try turning the backhoe all the way to one side when loading, but don't forget it and hit the trailer. That looks like a nice simple what to work a thumb. Thanks for sharing.
I truly enjoy and appreciate how at the end of your video you leave scripture at the end I think that is awesome I’m glad you do that praise the Lord Jesus thank you Jesus
When I bought my 1025r I also had the hydraulic thumb added. First job I found it useful for was loading cut up 18 inch long oak logs into the back of my pick up for delivery to a friend who heats with wood. They were pretty heavy and it saved our backs! He still gets to split them.
Tim, I have the same tractor JD2305 with a 260 backhoe. When loading, I lay a pair of 2X6's on the road prior to the loading ramp, which eliminates the hoe from dragging. I wounder what the part number is for the smaller trenching bucket used in the video?
Can you use the bxpanded quick disconnect and trenching bucket and ripper blade with this hydraulic thumb? or do you have to get the manual bx thumb for that to work?
Hi Tim. What you are going to find out is that with that narrow bucket the thumb doesn’t let you dig very deep because the thumb is wider than the bucket and hits the sides of your ditch. Mostly the collars for the bucket pin. Hope to see if you have that same problem. Thanks for the great videos. Have a good day.
Burning Bushes Tim, and for a landscaper like myself, I cringe when I have to remove them. Hopefully my new 1025R will make this kind of task a bit easier! This almost makes me excited about my next tear out and how much easier it’ll be with my 1025r as opposed to a spade and ax. A thumb definitely will be in my future.
Looks easy enough. It opens and closes just fine without having to pull another lever. Seems like it’s intuitive just working with the motion of the bucket. I wish now I’d have went ahead and got that option w my backhoe attachment.
Great video. Not sure the expense of the hydraulic thumb would be worth it for me especially since it is not fully independent, (plus I only use my machine for little stuff around the house😊). Also, the departure angle is likely a bit less as it does stick out a couple inches further out than the 260 BH.
I have a mechanical thumb on my MF GC1710 CB65 backhoe from BXPandeded that utilizes the factory mounting system. For the money and lack of independent operation of the thumb itself I prefer to select from the various notches where i'd like to be to know where my grab/pivot point is vs the "dueling" valves of a single function/dual cylinder thumb setup. I really think it takes a full independent thumb to justify the expense and extra plumbing
Hi Tim i want to start a business like yours and get a 1025R and do some stuff like you do,ill need a good trailer and a dump truck gonna be awhile til i get started i guess, but i just wanna do small jobs trees and maybe rocks, and clean up jobs, and soon as i hit the lottery,ha ok good video Tim later enjoy.
I see JD has added features for the backhoe attachment that’s found on larger backhoe loaders. That stump might be good to offer to a wood worker, possibly to make a bowl out of it.
There's Christy, doing the manual labor again! Maybe Scott could join the TTWT team, someone has to wield the shovel and he seems to have some skills in that regard.
Hello Tim, extend your backhoe just enough to load it. And return it to transport once loaded. It will give you the clearance you need, without overweighting the rear.
I suppose you are right. Never really thought about it. Same thumb for 8, 12, 04 16" buckets. One point I should have mentioned...the thumb would make it harder to dig 8" trench because it sticks out wider than the bucket.
In some towns in southern NJ you could put that stump outside on the curb and the first of the month they come around with a GIANT front end loader with a fancy 4way bucket to pickup and put in the township dump truck. I guess paying 8k a year in property tax has some benefits
I know this is an old video but if anyone is thinking of doing this two things...ck to make sure nothing is going under the bush like a gas line, water line or sewer pipe, roots can get wrapped around them. Second put a sheet of plywood up against the house in case you accidentally hit the house either with the backhoe bucket or the bush. I also find it easier to have a hose handy, once the stump is out just spray off the dirt. Sometimes when the dirt is hard I'll also use water to loosen it up before digging.
It was just the fourth of July tequila talking. I re-watched, and it is another fine video showing the versatility of these little machines, especially with hydraulic mods. I have a Woodmax chipper on the way... hoping to be able to move around 8-10 foot logs and get some lumber... and , and, you know.. ATB be safe.
Do you have a JD 8" bucket on? My JD dealer (salesman) told me that the thumb will not work with a 8" bucket, only the 12" bucket. I asked him why and he said he didn't know but "when you ordered the thumb (mechanical) and the 8" bucket I was told it the thumb only works with the 12" bucket". Maybe the teeth won't mesh but I can't see how it "wouldn't work", do you?
Tim I believe you’re using the thumb incorrectly. I think the valve is just to set the thumb to your preferred position then locking it in, using the bucket for clamping down instead.
Tim, put a 4x4 inch wood or a few 2x4's at the edge of the trailer ramp and the road and drive over them to get on / off the trailer without scrapeing the backhoe on the road.
The corn looks good, but uneven. Not a perfect stand either. This has been a horrible crop year here. Our sweet corn is as good as any field corn in the area.
You worked for Allison.... and why didnt you get a duramax with the transmission you worked for??? I know your pops a ford guy but. You worked for that transmission company!

Burning bush!! I have four of them and they grow like mad. In fact, this plant is illegal here in New Hampshire and neighboring Massachusetts. The bush is so invasive that its importation and sale are prohibited in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, so the four on my property must have been planted long ago.

I'm finally getting dry. God bless you and yours Brother Tim.
Looks like it’s working fine. On a small attachment like that’s just one more lever for the thumb that may be in the way. Unless it was factory installed w a foot lever so you wouldn’t have to take your hands off the other levers. We can’t expect that much out of these attachments. Although mine is a larger backhoe attachment it’d be harder for me to reach the release lever on top there. But it is what it is
Do you have one? I've been curious about it. Seems like it would give the backhoe more digging force (not having all that bucket moving dirt) and that would help rip through roots better.

Nice job TTWT always nice seeing John Deere at work my johnny just rolled over 2700 hours today still purring like a kitten
Glad to see the thumb is working good for you guys. Not every day you see a thumb on a little tractor, perty neat.
Tim, it looks like a Burning Bush (Euonymus Compactus). It is a fast growing hedge plant with brilliant fire-engine fall color. An easy to grow plant.

It is the frame that hits...doesn’t matter if hoe is turned sideways
Tractor Time with Tim you could lay a could 2x down to raise the wheels up a bit.
I truly enjoy and appreciate how at the end of your video you leave scripture at the end I think that is awesome I’m glad you do that praise the Lord Jesus thank you Jesus
Good job with the thumb Tim👍
Great content, great video! So much content, like the backhoe workinf

Hey! Yep. Kinda lonely without you guys!
Can you use the bxpanded quick disconnect and trenching bucket and ripper blade with this hydraulic thumb? or do you have to get the manual bx thumb for that to work?

Yes, the thumb is wider than the 8” bucket...narrower than the 12” bucket.
The thumb worked good for the stump removal!

It's expensive but I also got the hydraulic thumb. I was around $1200 installed.

hi tim good job
I got quite a few stumps myself!! Feel free to stop on by!!!

Understood. My opinion is not fully formed. It worked better than you describe. In fact, it worked quite well on that stump. We’ll test it further.
@@TractorTimewithTim bottom line I think is having a thumb whether mechanical or hydraulic is an outstanding tool in the tool chest.
Do you think the 2025r would have a better departure rate for loading on trailers?
I do not know.
Okay quick question can you use the grapple or the 4-1 bucket with the backhoe as well?
Yes.
I wonder if it's possible to install this on the older 260 backhoe??
It might work. Would have to deal with not having those built in protrusions with holes for mounting.

We need all the help we can get!
Hello Tim, extend your backhoe just enough to load it. And return it to transport once loaded. It will give you the clearance you need, without overweighting the rear.
That works great tim,you can see that the backhoe behind johny 2 is much stronger than Johny 1
Yes. definitely stronger.
First thing I thought if when I awoke this morning was yea Truck & Tractor Tuesday.
Hey David...can you contact me @ tim@tractortimewithtim.com? Thx
The big, wide thumb with the narrow bucket looks kind of unusual, and I like it.
I suppose you are right. Never really thought about it. Same thumb for 8, 12, 04 16" buckets.
One point I should have mentioned...the thumb would make it harder to dig 8" trench because it sticks out wider than the bucket.
Tractor Time with Tim Well then, you obviously need another tractor for digging 8” trenches. :)
I like how you think, Mark! I now have Vinny's trencher for digging 5.5" trenches.. so I guess that is close!
Tim the bush is a "Lindera benzoin" also known as a "spice bush" and is a member of the laurel family.
In some towns in southern NJ you could put that stump outside on the curb and the first of the month they come around with a GIANT front end loader with a fancy 4way bucket to pickup and put in the township dump truck. I guess paying 8k a year in property tax has some benefits

gosh Tim. I never thought you would "jump the shark" Think about what we can do...
Not sure I understand? I understand the term ‘jump he Shark’. But I have no idea what it has to do with this episode.

Tim I believe you’re using the thumb incorrectly. I think the valve is just to set the thumb to your preferred position then locking it in, using the bucket for clamping down instead.
No.
@@zachary3777 Could you explain why it wouldn't work that way please.
Zach A why not? It’s like using a manual thumb without having to move it manually.
Homer Garcia I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Tim could do a test for us.
I think a hydraulic thumb may be overkill for such a small tractor. A manual one would work just as well.
It may be overkill, but it did work better than a manual thumb. I would disagree with you on the latter half of your assertion.
In newengland we call them fire bush
Tim, you forgot to mention the "OLD MAN" steps on the outriggers. Lol.
only on one side.
Tractor Time with Tim only an old man on one side ? 😱😂
Do the "Bold on Hooks" steps work on the "B" series backhoe? So you could have an "Old man" step on both sides.
Tim, put a 4x4 inch wood or a few 2x4's at the edge of the trailer ramp and the road and drive over them to get on / off the trailer without scrapeing the backhoe on the road.
Guess you get a “thumbs” up. LOL
Does it work with the larger bucket?
Yes
Good video Tim how you like that thumb buddy
The thumb works well ...better than I might have expected.
Nice job getting it out without hitting the house.
Hey Tim how's the corn patch growing?
The corn looks good, but uneven. Not a perfect stand either. This has been a horrible crop year here. Our sweet corn is as good as any field corn in the area.
I think the thumb is a great addition to this machine however I thing it should be independently controlled
That new gooseneck trailer you got probably doesn't hit with the dove tail on it I wonder if we will ever see it reviewed
Ha! Be patient. We’ll get to it...so much good stuff going on now!!
where did the trailer come from?
Please watch our recent episode focusing on it. Described it in detail.
multi-stem Red Bud? Very Common/Popular in Indiana.
Good video looks like you need a dumb spot on your property . I have a big hole on my property where I dump my debris.
Tim Download the app Plant Snap you can find it in Google Play Store you take a pic via the app and the app will tell you whatever plant it is

your Dumpster Trailer could do with folding tail gate or long folding ramps so angle not so steep
I've got to back my RK24 into my dump trailer when I have the backhoe on.
Same problem for me...if I back in, I’ll scratch the trailer ramp/door.
