I have found what works really great on these thumbs is allowing it to go half way down and shut the switch off for the hydraulic circuit and use that thumb as a stationary thumb. It works really good like that too! Thanks Tim this is a great video. I’ve been looking at them for a while now, I’m going to have to grab one soon!
First time i see that valve used on a thumb. I would of thought as well set up the kit was it would of had an electric diverter switch.......that way you could mount a button on the end of your joystick and press it to operate the thumb and release to operate the bucket. The valves are about the same price just the electric one obviously would need an aditional $15-20 of electrical.
My dog was barking to go outside when you were demonstrating the thumb. I’ll wait for the first video of you using it to see if I like the way it works. Nice job installing it.
Tim until I helped a friend on his race car I found out a few things. When working on anything mechanical it is always from the drivers seat. This way you know when doing something like this it is always from you looking at it from the seat! I hope this helps you with further projects!
Hey Tim. These videos convinced me to get this. Had it since new 3 - years. Now the “button” is tough to push/pull. I ordered a manual diverter from summit with a momentary switch. You may have me trying to make my first video.
You are a confidence builder Tim! I love how you show new mod installs on your tractors. I had watched your Artillian grapple install video twice before I ordered mine and once again before I installed it. I can't wait to see this thumb in action.
Nice little thumb Tim but i am sorry i dont like how they are using the hydraulics they should just use 2 more hoses on the diverter or better just put a 12v diverter hydraulic valve just like how you did the grapple so you can control the thumb !! have a good week end !! Kioti Curt :-)
Thanks for the video Tim! I have a BH 46. I’m thinking of making a mechanical thumb that just mirrors the operation of the bucket with a disconnecter to stow it out of the way.
Good informative video. Only thing i would add is anytime you unhook hydrolic hoses or add attachments that use hydrolic it only takes a second to check hydrolic oil level. I learned running old equipment with leaks so it got burnt in my head to check the hydrolic oil often but as a rule of thumb at least check when swaping attachments especialy new cylinders were they often need at least a quart to fill them if they are new

Everything I’ve ever operated or worked on left or right was always from the driver’s seat 💺 or pilot’s seat. I think the thumb will work well. It was a bit misleading when you operated it. Currently installing the thumb. Just as I am getting started I find the new pivot pin will only slide through one side of the thumb assembly. Would you advise trying to ream the thumb assembly - or should it be replaced?

Have to say that a mechanical thumb would do just as good unless you can have the third power function added. Like the video just not the pricey hydromechanical thumb.
Hey Tim. I just put a deposit on a 2025R. Currently adding an attachments list. Do you think the hydraulic thumb is worth the extra cost over the mechanical thumb? They are charging me 1200 for the hydraulic thumb. Thanks for posting all your videos!!! I was going to buy a B2601 but after seeing all you do with Johnny I was sold on the 2025R. The frame, cab, loader, is all so much thicker and solid compared to the Kubota. The cab on the Kubota flexes when you step on the step! It feels cheap. People bend their Kubota loaders too. I've never heard of that happening on a John Deere
I'm going to rename the channel to "Big money spent with Tim." Haha Whew you've got some money tied up in all of those John Deere toys and attachments.
If I understood Tim correctly, GPS was offering free shipping on this item in particular, not on all products store wide. I added the thumb to my cart as a test and it came up as free shipping.
It is offered on all items. After entering the code, select free shipping at the lower left portion of the page. It doesn’t automatically select it for some reason, but the free shipping option is added when the TTWT code is entered. Make sense?

Of course, if you trade for a 2038r, you would want 2038r videos. We published a poll on this channel asking for opinions on this topic. 95% of respondents said they enjoyed some variety. I love the smallest equipment the best. We will continue to provide all of the information and content pertaining to the 1025r that we can. Having said that, we get so many questions asking about what size tractor is best for a given user’s needs. We believe we can demonstrate strengths and weaknesses of larger and smaller machines. One last question. Did you know about the hydraulic thumb for the Deere compact tractors before this episode? If not, I fail to see how this video could be a disappointment to you. Now, not only do you know that their IS such an attachment available, you also know how it functions. As I write more and more, I realize that I am at a total loss to understand your point!

To bad it doesn’t have a switch or foot pedal. I prefer pedal but just use to it. I am deff interested in seeing how that works in the field. Especially working with ur bucket in close to u.
You need to send that little guy back to the factory to grow up alittle more....😁 I'm used to bigger iron and it's funny to see things this little. I'm sure you can get a lot of work done with it.
Welcome to our channel. You’ll see us do amazing work with this little guy!
@@TractorTimewithTim thankyou. You have a great channel. Your doing great. I enjoy it. Your narration is very enjoyable.
Hey Tim is it just a coincidence that the host of Tool Time's name was also Tim? I just thought that was amusing as I watched your video.
Ha! Yea, we have always teased about that.
Welcome to our channel, Terrence!
Since you are John Deere SUb Compact guru. Do they make a backhoe bucket without the teeth?
Mudd’s custom has them
@@TractorTimewithTim Thank You!
I found them, my wife is trying to put a block on your channel. I used your comment we have lots of landscaping to do why rent when you can have a machine sitting here
Have to say that a mechanical thumb would do just as good unless you can have the third power function added. Like the video just not the pricey hydromechanical thumb.
so you have a calibrated elbow?
Is the hydraulic thumb worth it? I dunno. It is really nice. Hard to put a value on it.
LMAO, that backwards cylinder is exactly the kind of mistake I’d make on an install like this. 🤣
Ok what wrench for a 1/2 bolt also what size wrench for a m6
3/4” and ..I dunno.
Google is your friend... M6 requires a 10mm wrench.
can you grease this backhoe?
Yes
A CHOO. Christy you set off my allergies. Lol. (And Miss Katriel's allergies as well).
Nice job 👍
I think it’s going to get in the way when you have to clean up your trench
How is the water in the front yard?
It has gone down.
Can't wait to see how you solve the issue...
Great video!
For 1300$ I will have to see you use it to see if I put it on my wish list I wonder if it will work with the bxpanded quick hitch
Did the quick hitch use a longer pivot pin? If not, it should work fine.
I don’t know it’s on my wish list also lol
Tractor time "to buy a torque wrench" with Tim.
Someone get Tim a battery powered impact gun they save so much time
Good video!
Love the videos 🥳
You should put the orange triangle on the back of a tshirt! I gotta say I'm not a fan of the way you control that thumb.
I love the smv shirt idea!
The pole barn looks hot , mine sure is it was like a oven
Tim should contact these guys and see if they can work out a "deal". www.portacool.com/en/us/products
All I need is more humidity! :-)
Good video.
I don’t think I like how that thumb functions.
I'm going to rename the channel to "Big money spent with Tim." Haha Whew you've got some money tied up in all of those John Deere toys and attachments.
We have many sponsors. There would be no way that we could afford all of this stuff
Tractor Time with Tim wanna sponsor me? I could use a few more attachments 😂
@@TractorTimewithTim awesome, thank you for doing everything you can and getting to enjoy every minute of it that you can control.
I love your video
I like it!
I just went to buy something on Green parts and the shipping was $16....is there a trick to the free shipping?
If I understood Tim correctly, GPS was offering free shipping on this item in particular, not on all products store wide. I added the thumb to my cart as a test and it came up as free shipping.
It is offered on all items. After entering the code, select free shipping at the lower left portion of the page. It doesn’t automatically select it for some reason, but the free shipping option is added when the TTWT code is entered. Make sense?
Add the TTWT code, then the free shipping becomes one of the shipping options. You still have to select the free shipping option. Make sense?
@@TractorTimewithTim Thanks Tim, I'll go try again right now. I appreciate it.
I’m Diggin it
Great in stall.
to start with . I used to love your videos . now I think it's all about money you used to be all about the ability of the JD 1025 r . I just purchased one . let's get back to the sub compact . I know this is video is about the 1025 . please stick to the 1025 r .
Congratulations on your new 1025r.
@@TractorTimewithTim you are way off . I and alot of others !!! we love the simple man videos not the contractor ones . please stick to the sub compact. I could have what I wanted and thanks to you 1025r TLB I am pleased !
Tim... Where are your blue nitrile protective gloves...? LMAO... Roll On Mean Green...! When working with hydraulics... also have a cheap Harbor Freight free blue tarp on the shop floor...
You didn’t mention what you paid for it?
I told you where to buy it. One click away from finding out. Prices change.
Tractor Time with Tim by the way I’m paying 695 but I’m not sure if they are installing it
I didn’t pay anything. Greenpartstore.com provided the thumb in exchange for the videos with it.
Tractor Time with Tim gotcha! Are you in the sales department lol, well I’m in Arizona, so I’m just too far for your store
Thomas Kimble free shipping from greenpartstore.com/TTWT . It is an online store. Use coupon code TTWT. I do not work for them, but I do receive a very small commission for sales with code TTWT. Thanks!
How much did you pay for Johnny
I see thru you Tim you put the cylinder in wrong to try and show w you aren’t perfect
