    Part 11. Demolition of the West Heating Plant in Georgetown (Washington, DC).
    The heating plant was built in the 1940s. It provided steam heat to government buildings.

    Thanks, John. This is an interesting episode.
    That coal bin was huge! They put the fuel oil tanks in there when it was converted to oil, I guess. That must have been fun. They must have had to bring the tanks in in pieces and assembled them in place.
    What was that rust-colored box structure about the bin? Part of the flue system?

      Yes, part of the flue system. I have not seen a diagram showing all the details of how the flues went from the boilers to the pollution controls to the outside, so I can't tell you what part of the flue system.

      and you could do better? probably the closest thing to running one of these you have ever done is you running your zero turn mower.

      It’s not the operator, it’s the to small of an attachment he has to work with. It doesn’t have the power to handle the size of concrete and steel he has to demolish

      @@davehancock1838Yes, I agree with you about the size of the shear. They make them much bigger, but they would probably be too heavy for the length of the boom and jibs on this crane.
