It was named after the aforementioned bridge, as well as the Africatown community that the western approach to the bridge was built in. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
I love the sound of the church bells at 31:02; It takes me back to my childhood growing up in Alabama. I lived there for 4 years as a kid while my dad was in med school at USA.
I moved from Mobile in 1997 my oldest kid was born there i haven't been back since 1999 but hopefully in 2023 i will still have people living their shout out Plateau Africatown Prichard and West Mobile Birdsville Maysville Rodger Williams Happy Hills Daphne Alabama and the panhandle.
