- Can I break 90? PART ONE - EVERY SHOT IN 9 MINUTES
Today I am playing at The Manor Golf Course in Drighlington, West Yorkshire.
I have been playing golf for about a year (beginner golfer) and my golf handicap is about 20.
This is a fantastic 18 hole course and I'm looking to break 90 for the first time on the channel and the first time at this course.

Loved this, also a 20HCP golfer, new player. Great to see the difference between our clubs. You'd smash me with your woods, but I'd have you on the putter :D Great round, well done and love the format of the scorekeeping.
Thanks Crumby! The putter is definitely something I’ve been working on. I’d argue it was significantly worse then now 3 months back so some progress at least 🤙
Nice round, well played Luke! It's so refreshing and encouraging to watch relatable golf videos, that said I can see 3 or 4 shots you faced where I would have gotten myself in real trouble, you make much smarter shot choices than I would - something for me to learn! Keep it up mate can't wait for the back 9!

I just shot a 94 at my home course, and I've got my sights on 85 already. (The course rating is 73.8/125) Love your content! (and yes, those 3-puts are absolutely annoying!!)

Are feeling exhausted? I think its mostly stamina and consenstration gone? I try longer pauses during the round when i feel the score coming up ;)
Course is local to me, I've played it a few times. Interesting layout. Looks in decent nick.

Great video. You're really thinking your way around, not taking driver where you don't need to, even on a par 5. On the par 3 where you dunked it in the water, you do realise you don't have to reload - you can just take the drop from the hazard? But once you sort your putter distance control, your handicap will tumble. Nice work.

What program do you use for the shot tracer please? Looks fantastic. Also, is it a program you use for the scorecard and info in top right or do you do all this manually? Keep up the good work

@@UpDownGolf Yeah mate, i'm a member there it is a tough course ! Plays a lot longer than it shows! There are a few good courses around Selby area! I'm still trying to break 100 regularly and not slice a drive and it's definitely a challenge haha
Nice, I'll definitely give it a go then 👍 I've struggled with a slice since I started too. Finally showing signs of getting rid of it but it still creeps in. I think that was probably what gave my scores the biggest boost tbh. It's amazing how many shots you gain when most of your tee shots aren't in the trees 😂
@@UpDownGolf yeah it’s a nightmare for me mate, only been playing since lockdown really and currently 27.4 hcp but off the tee is the reason I’m not a lot lower!
I've just returned from playing my bad golf in Phuket Thailand.
I played a couple of rounds with golfer TH-cam golfer Cosmo Carter (no I'm not his brother) who invited me out there.
Proud of my bad golf....Thailand is still very confused 🤣.
Great fun and immortalised on his TH-cam channel forever.

How to fix your putting. Fit a Kotahi grip and use the palm up method of grip ( see BJM video on TH-cam). You look like you lack space in your swing with Driver and irons. The compensations lead to your slice. Have a look at Marcus Edblad's videos on TH-cam.
My putting is a lot better these days Kym (I hope!)
Well done on hole 9. I thin the hardest thing for a high handicapper is sometimes hitting 2 good consecutive shots. You creamed it

Nope, opposite of you, I tend to improve on back nine... Perhaps I should warm up a lot more before starting the front nine?

Very good round Luke. Im a 22 index and have yet to break 90. 93 is my lowest. This was a phenomenal round. I do have a question. On 7 when you hit it in the water, could you have taken a drop on the other side of the water since it entered after hitting the bank on that side then trundling in. I would rather hit my third from there then off the tee if the rules allow.
I was thinking the same, you take it backwards from where it entered the water. I.e. the other side of the lake but still a much closer second shot. You can also go backwards until you get the lie you want. Would have been a good option!
You can’t because the nearest point of relief would be closer to the hole, you can drop if the far side using the entrance point and flag as a line to drop it on and been closer and pitching on instead of re tee

It does seem a bit counterintuitive, since the ball goes into the water on the far side. But as Dominic says, the nearest point of relief that's not nearer to the hole is from the point at which the ball initially crosses the boundary of the hazard. Or play from a (sometimes) optional designated drop zone, which is what you see at the 12th at Augusta. Or re-tee.
Thanks for the info fellas. I’m glad I’m not the only one who was confused with this rule so thought it safer to just re tee. Do we think the thing to do here was take a drop just before the water then?
you do need to put some cards in the system and get a realistic HC.. I would be delighted with that front 9, my index is 14.8...

@@trocketgolf3666 Yeah it crashes sometimes and can be a bit fussy but it gets the job done. I use Premiere Pro to edit the videos. Thanks, appreciate that 👍👍

With driver mate, it was hard to tell but from a few clips it looks like your left hand grip is weak. Try making it a touch stronger, that has helped me literally eliminate my slice now. I can't slice it even if i try with a strong left hand grip.

I've told you before but will say again. You strike ball well. Get so.e good distance. Soon see that handicap tumble.
Well played. Makes me wish I was 15/20 yrs younger...would have played far more golf with a back and hips with more flexibility.

Could you not have dropped on the opposite bank after landing there and falling back in the water on 7? Hazards are ruled you drop on the line from point of entry. At the very least you could have dropped where the balled first crossed before the water.
Yeah wish I realised this!
