In this episode, you will hear about human trafficking prevention in the Baltic states and a network of NGOs called „Wave“ that is working towards the prevention and protection of women and children from violence.
„Power dynamic is a big part of abuse and violence. Raising awareness about support systems and improving support systems for women or survivors, in general, is a big part of a good initiative “ - shares Polina Lynova talking about features of a great violence prevention initiative.
She adds that empowerment is a big part of making survivors feel strong and powerful. As abusers often try to diminish survivors to destroy their character and make them feel like they deserved to be abused.
„So effective initiative should advocate for better laws, raise awareness among the general public, regarding the support services and improve support services and empower people to have a voice in the first place. If don‘t have a voice, you will never be able to speak up, even if you have everyone else supporting you“ - adds the project coordinator in Active Youth.
