John Edmond’s Gospel Truth - “Tear It Down”

The late John Edmonds of Bowl Green, Kentucky and his group; Gospel Truth. You have have heard his name thru being associated with Clara Ward. He actually played piano for Clara for her last live album recording at the War Memorial Auditorium in Tennessee. Here he is with his own group live in concert! Evangelizing American revival gospel music has left the confines of the Black churches. It is now heard everywhere, striking a deep spiritual response in all people. At formal concert halls; at colleges and universities; in most of the plush night clubs; enthusiastically enjoyed by people from all walks of life, of every denominational background. After many years of only being considered an influence on other forms of popular musical entertainment, gospel has now taken its rightful place as a favorite contemporary form of entertainment itself. And it is inspiring entertainment.
One of the youngest and most exciting exponents and prepetuators of gospel music is "JOHN EDMONDS' GOSPEL TRUTH. Since their early teens, under the banner of the "ANGELIC SPECIALS", they have been performing in churches all over the United States. Now the "GOSPEL TRUTH" handclapping, footpatting, soul-stirring gospel repertoire is heard in such diverse places as Hollywood's glamorous Century Plaza Hotel, the exotic Sanno Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, Arizona Western College, and most recently at Opryland U.S.A. in Nashville, Tenn. They have made countless television and radio appearances across the country & abroad. They have toured the world for USO, entertaining U.S. troops in Green-land, Labrador, Japan, Okinawa, Guam, the Philippines, Korea and Vietnam .. spreading joy and "The Gospel Truth"!
It is difficult for records to re-create the total excitement and fervor that is generated by John and his singers when the "GOSPEL TRUTH" confronts a live audience. Their records are exciting. Their in-person shows are fantastic. Whether with skillfully choreographed leaps and turns, punctuated with exclamatory shouts, or with thought-provoking serenity, they generate every possible shade of the emotional spectrum from their audiences - laughter, smiles, sadness and serious reflection at some of the challenging situations and problems in our world. Most of all their aim is to express and generate joy and love and hope.
After witnessing one of their concerts, audiences turn homeward with joy bubbling from their hearts; with more love and concern for their fellowman; and hope, that despite all life's difficulties tomorrow will be a brighter day.
