I really like their sound. I was a huge metal head in high school and in the years since I have come to enjoy more jazz and classical music. This just sounds great to me!
Paul is such an inspiration! I must have watched his playthrough videos of Bad Code and Under One Sky about a million times each :P Saw him when Chimp Spanner and Uneven Structure supported Tesseract and he was incredible! So looking forward to this EP!
I always thought of instrumental metal as boring, gladly I've got myself to listen to Scale The Summit and now I love them and Animals As Leaders and Chimp Spannuh
I hate people who hate on music. Why would you take time out of your day to write a comment that just makes people mad at you? It's easier to not say anything at all.
I don't know how I do it but every now and then I just go to my record store and when I don't have a certain artist I'm looking for ill pick something up from the shelf and usually ill run into musical gems like this like today :)
"Kotov’s fragile consciousness plunged deeper and deeper, the gossamer-thin lifeline held by Magos Blaylock a tremulous thread in a firestorm of golden light. He saw systems flicker past his floodstream that were as alien to him as anything the most secretive xenotech might dream of in his fevered nightmares, and technological echoes of machines that surely predated the Imperium itself. Power generation that could harness the galactic background radiation to propel ships beyond lightspeed, weapon-tech that could crack open planets and event horizon machines that had the power to drag entire star systems into their light- and time-swallowing embrace. "
Pardon me, I thought it was just somebody writing a bunch of vaguely cool sounding bullshit with no context and I have a bit of nihilist sense of humor. It's from Warhammer 40K book called Priests of Mars
It's funny you say that - I saw these guys live 2 days ago - their tone was a nigh on exact match for Meshuggah's Nothing Album. He even used the riff from Stengah to tune his guitar. For "conventionally melodic" look at the same album and Straws Pulled at Random.
"The musicians just write what they feel and all of us dumbasses classify the genre." I haven't seen such truth on the interwebs in quite some time. Thank you sir, there may be hope yet. Oh, and I've juuuust come across this amazing sound. WHERE THE FUCK HAVE I BEEN?!?
I really hope Sikth make good on their promise to make another album! I always hear Dillinger when I listen to them too. If you combined DEP with System of a Down you're gonna come out with something very much like Sikth.
I do agree with you, and don't wish to start some horrid debacle, but just on a side note, no one every was 100% original, there certainly are some artists who made incredibly leaps, but one fantastically poetical aspect to music is that it is a continually evolving thing and that all musicians are influenced by what they here whilst they try to formulate their own style and approach
i guess you either get it or you don´t. though its best to keep an open mind with vildhjarta as i didn´t like the album initially. its on my playlist and i´ve been listening to it since december though.
hell yeah!! cant wait for this!! oh and first; no top coment, now is my chance; i used to listen to djent but then i took chimp spanner to the knee. Enough?
Indeed. I think of the Men of Iron being built and eventually rising up to fight back against their human oppressors while listening to the song. Right about at 2:25 is where I visualize the robots deciding they've had enough.
based on youtube comments ive noticed that the metal community is so closed-minded. everything is either not heavy enough too heavy or some other generic complaint ive seen a million times (and just cant remember right now). its like nobody listens for the music, they just want to say they like some band to use it as some sort of mantle piece to make them feel cooler or something.
you are generalizing...in the flavor list at my advice there are groups too much different from meshuggah...pick those chimp spanner for example, they have some heavy riffs but they cannot be compaired with vildhjarta's badass vocals...i think that some of these groups are simply new wave progressive
Vildhjarta is very original. Just because your untrained ear can't distinguish them from Meshuggah or all these other "djent" bands, doesn't make them shitty. Vildhjarta isn't for everyone, but if you don't like them, don't call them "shitty" or disrespect them. They are successful musicians and your just some guy on TH-cam.
@JesusWasADerelict idk, it just depends on which vocals. i dont think screams would go very good with this type of stuff. make something like Daniel Tompkins would make this sound fucking awesome
still here 2023. groundbreaking to this day
Chimp is heavy but tasteful, one of the best hands down!!! Come on Mr. Ortiz make your fans another kick ass Cd again!!!!
AAL is kind of different than this IMO, But I love both TBH
Agreed, Im just saying I can put in Chimps music and instantly be in a great mood, his music teleports me to my happy zone lol
He’s working on one.
It gives me the feel of the 2000’s progressive jazz-metal sounds like PlanetX. I love this nostalgic, melodic theme with a deep metal groove.
it gives me feel of top tier music
This is one of my favorite jam tracks.I like the time sigs.
I really like their sound. I was a huge metal head in high school and in the years since I have come to enjoy more jazz and classical music. This just sounds great to me!
This band kicks ass.
Awesome! I love crazy metal jazz/fusion inspired stuff with cool polyrhythms and wacky time signatures.
Well now I know that this dude likes Warhammer 40k.
Man, all the bands signed by Basick Records are sooo good!! This is brilliant!
0:45 Fredrik Thordendal-epicstyle solo
Fredrik's solos are, most of the time, atonal.
How did I not find these guys until now??? this is unreal
I thought intelligent talented metal was dead before I listened to this.
Saw shorts with drumcover. Thank for this shorts!
the dark age of technology sounds pretty awesome - no wonder everybodys is grimdarkly pissed off since it ended
I love this!!
Paul is such an inspiration! I must have watched his playthrough videos of Bad Code and Under One Sky about a million times each :P Saw him when Chimp Spanner and Uneven Structure supported Tesseract and he was incredible! So looking forward to this EP!
I can't stop listening to this.
So brilliant.
I seriously can't stop listening to this. Killer stuff!
Props for admiting a mistake, people nowadays can't do that, and you deserve an standing clap just for doing it.
I always thought of instrumental metal as boring, gladly I've got myself to listen to Scale The Summit and now I love them and Animals As Leaders and Chimp Spannuh
You should check out Owane
This song is soooo good.
this song made me rethink everything about guitar
Love Chimpspanner, love Basick Records, love lamp...
i almost died when i heard that groove at the end..i can't stop listening to it
Amazing combination of djent and fusion / enignatic satriani solos. Hes awesome
Love Chimpspanner, love Basick Records; it's all so awesome :D
Beautiful music, Paul is GENIUS!
Man, what a finale!
Very nice

Dope.
blah blah gay
KvltKommando Your third eye is closed. We pity your blindness.
What's that from?
Pardon me, I thought it was just somebody writing a bunch of vaguely cool sounding bullshit with no context and I have a bit of nihilist sense of humor. It's from Warhammer 40K book called Priests of Mars
Something about this song reminds me of Chrono Trigger... Awesome... >=]
Just seen this group live at hammerfest, they put on a damn good show
That blew my mind a little bit.
amazing
so.. what mode is the 2:34 - 3:30 part ? i dont get to where the thing resolves to :P probably, chimp spanner did not care either ^^
Brilliant.
Awesome song fur sure.
It's funny you say that - I saw these guys live 2 days ago - their tone was a nigh on exact match for Meshuggah's Nothing Album. He even used the riff from Stengah to tune his guitar. For "conventionally melodic" look at the same album and Straws Pulled at Random.
okay, so... how would i go about placing an order for one of everything? :)
Très bien
amazing djent!
For all of you arguing. Yes, this is obviously christian band so let's not get into a fist fight about it.
a christian band? notsureifserious
Adrian Ocaña
Couldn't tell by the lyrics? ;P
***** im laughing now.
Nice! California is waiting!
Damnnn this is exactly what i was looking for!!!
@TheEnigmaticForm11 agreed both are horses of a different color with equal footing in their craft
How can this guy whale with such badassery!!??
that ending blew my fucking face off
2:24
Aw shit, sweet.
@NeGroPaNic Yeee. But its kinda more like Substructures sounds like Chimp spanner. Chimp spanner was doing this kinda stuff long before :D
Back at ya bud :)
I really hope they do to! I don't think they could top Death of a dead day though in my opinion.
I really hope Sikth make good on their promise to make another album! I always hear Dillinger when I listen to them too. If you combined DEP with System of a Down you're gonna come out with something very much like Sikth.
Their music can seem rather unpalatable at first because it is very different, you must have an open mind in order to "get it" and enjoy it.
@demonj00 sorry, but I think they have evolved into something far beyond shiver. Talent and creativity wise.
@1:52 I swear I was levitating...
does monuments enter anywhere in the flavor list?
they could be like honey-coffee ice cream (btw that's a thing a it's fucking great)
Also Meshuggah is djent... some call djent a genre, but it really is just a guitar sound. The exact guitar sound Chimp Spanner is using.
This sounds like Scar Symmetry without vocals, pretty cool.
Indeed he is, it's just one guy Paul Ortiz
who is lamp, is it someone intwined?
i guess you either get it or you don´t. though its best to keep an open mind with vildhjarta as i didn´t like the album initially. its on my playlist and i´ve been listening to it since december though.
sick banging beat man!!! What you use to make this??? If youget a chance, come check out my instrumentals
Reminds me of YES (the band), so this is actual progrock I guess.
The djent parts are good fitting, I like this thing.
Isn't this different from the album?
hell yeah!! cant wait for this!!
oh and first; no top coment, now is my chance; i used to listen to djent but then i took chimp spanner to the knee. Enough?
vocals please
a great label.. nothing else to say
Soothes my ear drum. Owh wait, the drum track is my ear drum!
Yea, I agree.
Instrumental djent stuff is awesome
whoever dislikes a Chimp Spanner song is just jelly.
Bought it for my girlfriend on Valentine's Day.
What classifies as progressive?
Vildjharta is honestly straight up dissonance over complex rhythms with no direction. This is melodic, atmospheric and actually well-composed music.
but have u induced ur own internal skies
They sound like AAL. Cool music though, I wish there was more music as interesting as this.
I think of 40k's dark age of technology when I listen to this.
Indeed. I think of the Men of Iron being built and eventually rising up to fight back against their human oppressors while listening to the song. Right about at 2:25 is where I visualize the robots deciding they've had enough.
That makes sense. Did he ever mention influences for this song?
I am afraid I do not remember.
how you analyzed the information rendered it useless
I don´t understand the Vildhjarta bashing but everyone has a different taste in music and a different sense for melodies.
Argh, this is so fucking awesome!
fucking beautiful, basickrecords fucking rules!!
based on youtube comments ive noticed that the metal community is so closed-minded. everything is either not heavy enough too heavy or some other generic complaint ive seen a million times (and just cant remember right now). its like nobody listens for the music, they just want to say they like some band to use it as some sort of mantle piece to make them feel cooler or something.
Or have I just fucked up the tags on this one? :/ Gotta listen to the CD, oh noes!
you are generalizing...in the flavor list at my advice there are groups too much different from meshuggah...pick those chimp spanner for example, they have some heavy riffs but they cannot be compaired with vildhjarta's badass vocals...i think that some of these groups are simply new wave progressive
Lol thanks man.
How the hell is Vildhjarta original? They ripped off meshuggah big time. I cant believe you just said that lol.
Disagree. You should really listen to this more carefully. It is perfect the way it is.
So I'm reading that Mexuga can write things like this -> 2:25.
Good.I'm done for today.
@SinForgiven Agreed. I thought Vildhjarta's latest release was utter trash. I don't get the hype with them.
Jeeze, why is everyone hating on Vildhjarta and Periphery?
@psainio1 Id say Pagan's Mind, Exivious, and Meshuggah. But that's me.
@psainio1 "Metallica" - What?
his lead playing reminds a bit of Brett Garsed
@psainio1 Throw in Animals as Leaders and you are 100% correct.
Vildhjarta is very original. Just because your untrained ear can't distinguish them from Meshuggah or all these other "djent" bands, doesn't make them shitty.
