This might sound stupid but the technique really is not that hard once you get the mechanics down. Especially when you're just going thumb-thumb-index (doing triplets) - when you know how to do it, speed comes relatively quick. Just think of it as a single motion.

And yes it is pretty easy to pull off, but mastering the techinque to it's fullest, pulling it off PERFECTLY is the difficult part. There's a LOT of synch when it comes down to those speeds. Wow. I just came across that band, I've heard their name many times since I got into djent/math metal a year ago (thanks to Jared Dines & Periphery) and the thing here is, until now I've been almost listening only to Periphery considering I'm really in love with that band.
Also on the times I would try to listen to other djent bends, most of the times it ended up not being my cup of tea so I never did further researches.
That said yesterday I randomly clicked on an AAL suggested song which was this one.
Man what can I say ...
This is beyond music and art. This song is full of emotion. While I do love that fucking dope slap riff, the melodic score is actually chilling me to the bones. It has that so special video-gamey vibe, I know many will relate considering the comments below (personally their melodies remind me a lot of good old SNES games like the DKC series.)
Also I wanna emphasize on that point, I came to the point where I assume that the djent genre itself is somehow inspired of video games. I've had that feeling with other bands before, and I definitely think I'm not the only one in that case.
Conclusion is: these guys are true geniuses. I am THAT respectful towards how stunning and unique their music seems to be, from the very first listening.
I'm just so happy that I finally found a band worth spamming the shit out of my replay button, for a year or more !

Absolutely insane talent combined with stunning song writing especially from Tosin and Matt (my all time favourite drummer). It's just groovy, and it's just so easy to listen to. I don't know why other songs didn't appeal to me as much as this one, but this whole album is a masterpiece.
If I'm not mistaken, Nolly mixed and engineered this album. What a fantastic job he has done. Ever since hearing his work in Clear, I've been just absolutely in awe of his mixing and engineering skills.

I like a few songs off the first album, but man, these guys have really come a long way on JOM. The production's better, the arranging's better, the technicality is more tasteful.... so awesome. I'm not really into metal much anymore, because I got sick of guitar-dominated shred competitions, but these guys are beyond metal IMO. They're up alongside guys like Virgil Donati, Evan Brewer, Victor Wooten, Jojo Mayer - talent that can't be categorised as anything other than 'superlative' :)

Listening to this in a public environment is very dangerous for my self-integrity. At 1:30, I completely sieze up, leading people to worry for me. At 1:38, I'm uncontrollably spazzing to the pulse of the riff. This has caused countless ambulences to be called for my carelessness of listening to something so groovy and so heavy at the same time, without first placing myself in a confined location, where there is nobody to be worried about me.

Listening to this song later on I realized it was used here and it was like listening from a different angle. Now I just read the comment about the drum pedal for this same part and apparently lost my jaw.

This song makes me feel like i can sword fight a tornado... And WIN. Only to realize that because of my actions it'll never rain again, and our crops will never grow. As the land crumbles and turns to barren desert, i sacrifice myself in order to conjure up a powerful tornado. My mortal form turns to sand and gets swept up into the eye. My new form as the newly made tornado, churns up soil, destroys long forgotten houses to re-purpose the wood as food for the ground, blows the biting damaging sand away, and provides water for the crops to drink... Except... in the distance... a young man sees the tornado and stands ready with a sword in hand.
And in those final moments. I weep. Knowing my fate and the fate of my land.
