So Not many people know that these peaceful countries are experiencing a long-standing border dispute,
You see The Lake Constance is situated right between these three nations, However when you look at the map you'll notice that it doesn't even have any border,
This is why Austria believes this lake is a condominium, meaning it should be shared by all three countries,
Switzerland believes that its borders should look something like this,
Meanwhile Germany just doesnt care about this random Lake,
In short this lake isn't causing any conflicts so these countries don't bother fixing it,

"The Lake Constance" means in German "Bodensee". Bodensee means in English "Floor lake" (As a German)

That's the literal translation. But actually the name derives from the picturesque town Bodman, where important dukes lived. So "Bodensee" means "lake of Bodman". The long peninsula "Bodanrück" also derives it's name from Bodman. It's an incredibly beautiful area with the huge lake, beautiful fairytale towns at it's shore and the alps in the background. Highly recommend visiting

I was at a schooltrip for 4 days to this lake! It was an amazing experience. Germany mostly views its borders like Switzerland does, which is the divided way to a centre point. I always found it funny how we would always need to pay attention to the mobile data we used, because if it changed country automatically it would’ve been problematic xd

This short in a nutshell:
There is a lake between 3 countries… Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Austria thinks the lake should be divided equally, Switzerland thinks the division should follow the borders… and Germany doesn’t give a sh$t
I doubt anything would happen since..
1. Germany, the biggest military power out of all 3 countries, doesnt care about said lake, so wouldnt ever initiate a war over it.
2. Switzerland has always had a neutral stance, and would never attack first.
3. Since austria believes the lake should be shared by all three countries, it doesnt really affect the land borders that much.
the austrian and the swiss army combined are actually not that much weaker than the germany army.

Didn't know that lake was called lake constance in English. I do understand that it's named after the city of Konstanz in Germany which is sitting right there. In German we call it Bodensee (literally: Floor lake)
German here, we don't really have any border disputes. It actually happens sometimes that we "invade" these two by accident or get invaded by them, because some soldiers got lost in some training mission in the mountains. If that happens, it's usually just locals pointing them in the right direction without any diplomatic incident.
You know it’s not good when switzerland has conflict with other countries…

i go here all the time, there is a joint german/swiss city on the german swiss border directly on the lake. (Konstanz/Kreuzlingen) the lake has its own flag and there is always 4 flags displayed throughout all of the city which is Austrian/German/Swiss/Bodensee (the lake is also called bodensee)
