just built out a bmpcc 4k using this video as a jumping off point, was very helpful! I didn't end up needing the extra cable to plug the v-mount battery into the camera, as the cable that was already attached to the Hedbox worked fine for me. Also was able to cannibalize some old gear to supplement the list in the pdf and traded in an old GH5 for a lightly used BMPCC 4K, so all in all only ended up spending less than $1000 out of pocket for a badass cinema cam setup! big thanks to Adrian and Arthur for the video. liked and subscribed
You should look into supporting the weight of the lens or at least the metabones adapter. 4:19 clearly shows the lens bobbing up and down as your cranking the focus wheel.
The tip i dont see anyone giving you is to not over tighten the screws, it will eventually create compression and a slight bit of metal dust that gets inside will make it impossible to unscrew
Somebody already gave you the tip about the ssd screw lining up with the SSD holder. That makes the cable connection secure. Also, check out the BM5 portkeys monitor with the bluetooth module for touch screen control of the camera from the monitor. Pretty neat. I'm also looking into getting a quick release adapter to as a bridge between the monitor and the monitor mount. Basically let it live on the monitor mount and snap on the monitor in and out. Happy shooting.
Buy shorter cables and consider a side handle. Also a monitor that gives you direct access to your Black Magic settings will save you a lot of annoyance.

I have a very similar build but no one seems to address the fact that the V mount or gold mount batteries block the touchscreen and even with an external monitor, you can't use your menu controls or format the Harddrive/sd card. I have a gold mount battery on the back and a monitor on the handle, but I have to remove the battery to use any menu options and yes I can control SOME stuff over bluetooth with my phone but thats not really practical on a shoot.
Tim White I’ve recently gotten my camera, have been watching tons of videos for advice on a rig and I’ve been thinking this exact thought! Everyone talks about the amazing interface on the pocket 4K, seems illogical to not have access to it
@@AdrianPicardi How were you able to mount the plate to your v-mount battery back? Did the plate come with screws or did the battery pack come with screws? Thanks!
You connected your SSD wrong. There's a small thumb screw in the braided cable that can be attached to the SSD holder to allow a solid and secure connection.
You could get a 12inch HDMI from amazon basics to avoid having to child the long one, you can also get one from Atmos that is coiled like a telephone cable and it's like 20$ I believe
Sick build Adrian. Love your work from Corridor. I noticed that you don't use a UV/IR cut filter, BMPCC4K gets a lot of IR pollution especially after using an ND filter on it, your blacks turn magenta. Please get an IR cut filter, Hoya one works well for me.
Hi Adrian, I saw some people power the camera and the monitor with dummy batteries and some directly from the d tap to the dc inputs (Either just the camera or also the monitor). Do you know the pros and cons of each of the variations?
Nope. Didn't do too much research when it came to dummy battery mods. I hate having a wire sticking out from the battery port and I also love the ability to hot swap v-mount batteries without losing power.
It's a pretty heavy setup. Holding the bmpcc4k alone with a sigma lens on the crane 2 is a pretty exhausting task. I don't recommend this setup if you're doing mostly gimbal work.

@@AdrianPicardi hey mate, can you attach 114mm diameter cine lenses to this matte box and would you recommend this matte box? Heard some reviews saying it is too squeaky
Just out of curiosity because I thought about buying the tilta cage. How come no hand grip on the left side for better stability? Does holding the follow focus give enough?
More of a budgetary thing. I made my build with the intent of spending less than $4k. A hand grip would be a great addition. I will say however after using this rig for a few months, it's NOT good for run and gun shooting. Very heavy like a traditional cinema camera.
Adrian Picardi so I’m actually planning on a very similar setup to what you have but I’ll need to have the ability to run and gun. A lot of people have the same setup as you but call it run and gun so that’s a tad bit concerning about weight. Have you ever looked at making this into a shoulder rig? I’d just like to know how much more I’d be looking to spend in order to do so.
Great setup, it really looks cool! :) Its nice that you sayd that one does not need all that gear to shoot. Im new to this so i have no idea what it all is for and i have to rely on what experienced people like you recommend. All i want to do is shoot some high quality cinematic nature and surrounding shots with great color and quality! What would i need for that? What would you buy for that purpose? Thanks in advance.
hey! I'd recommend first starting off with your cellphone (if it shoots 4K). There's a program called Filmic Pro that turns your iPhone into a decent camera and you can practice shooting at a low cost until you figure out if it's something you actually want to continue doing. If you don't have a cellphone that's capable of 4k or you're just ready to buy a camera, I'd go with the bmpcc6k pro. The codec is great, it's not super expensive, has internal ND filters (which will come in handy when shooting outdoors) and is an overall solid camera.
@@AdrianPicardi Thanks for the great advice! I dont have a good i phone and would like to buy a great camera. Would the bmpcc4k be good enough for my cinematic plans?
