Sounds like a good plan and approach to homeschooling! 🙌☺️

This is pretty much what I want to implement, but I am having trouble making my relaxed plans actually happen!
This is our first homeschool summer, and we got into a good full school groove, and I know how to do nothing, but the light schooling is feeling like a challenge!

It definitely can take a while to find your groove as far as what things look like for your homeschool. For us, light schooling can look different from year to year depending on what’s needed. If we need to finish something up, I start there and create a weekly flow as I don’t want to boggle the kids down with too much year round. If we don’t have anything needing completion, me and my kids will decide on a fun unit study or topic to deep dive and I build a weekly flow off of that.
Sometimes light schooling looks fun, sometimes it doesn’t.
So it’s not as challenging, maybe start with what your goal is with doing light schooling (to avoid complete burn out, to use as a transition to the next grade level, to focus in on a core subject, etc.).
I find with homeschooling, whenever I get to the point of overwhelm with anything, going back to “What’s my goal here?,” and “What will get us there?” usually helps me

We don’t take the whole summer off and we only take a week off at Christmas and new year as they now land in the summer!!! We take time off for fun thru out the year!!! By November we try to do more fun school work as it’s getting hot and we spend more time on the beach!!! We’ve only been here a year tho so that’s my guess form last year!!! Light schooling counts in our state!!! They look for improvement!!!

Taking time off here and there are so helpful for getting through a school year without feeling super overwhelmed! Incorporating more fun school work is something I try to do too, usually through unit studies, as I think it helps give a break from the usual stuff.
